Eva had to go. Spring / Summer 2016

The world as she knew it was ending. The safety of her warm home was no longer enough. In fact, it had become more restrictive than comforting. Everyone around her talked about how it was going to get better, how the tide was changing, and she would begin to see a difference, but she was losing hope in that prospect. What if it never happened, what if it slowly deteriorated into something she no longer recognized? Something gloomy and cold, devoid of love. Her mind was made up, she had to go.

None of it was as she expected. It was littered with the debris she had thought she left behind. Everywhere she turned, it was there. She marched through it, observing, listening, feeling. In time, she found herself connected in ways she hadn’t expected. The constant ring in her ears morphed into something magical; a lyrical love poem, being recited on repeat by the piles of debris that grew long legs and inspecting eyes. Embraced with an alien sense of support, her empathy swelled. She knew the world would feel again.
