An Audience with Johnnie Walker

PETERBOROUGH OPERA PRESENTS

Cosi Fan Tutte

THURS 27 OCT, 7.30PM • MAIN HOUSE

THURS 27 - FRI 28 OCT, 7.45PM • STUDIO

Johnnie Walker made his name in the 60s with the pirate ship Radio Caroline, followed by seven years with Radio 1 until 1976, when his outspoken views led to a showdown with his Radio 1 boss and a move to San Francisco. Johnnie returned home in the early 80s, and following stints with Radio West and Wiltshire Radio, he returned to Radio 1 and 2 where he now presents Sounds Of The 70s. A hugely knowledgeable, engaging and honest speaker, this is a very welcome visit for Johnnie Walker to the Key

Cynical Don Alfonso wagers with two young men that their fiancées won’t stay faithful if put to the test. The lovers are sure of themselves and agree to the bet - pretending to depart, then returning in disguise, the two men find themselves attempting to seduce each other’s fiancée. Mozart’s sublime score picks apart the themes of trust and deception, loyalty and desire with some of his most passionate and profound music. The performance will be sung in English.
