One sunny evening, ten-year-old Rhona goes missing on the way to her grandmother's house.

“These impulses come over me all of a sudden, and I just can’t resist them.”

Her mother, Nancy, retreats into a state of frozen hope. Agnetha, an American criminal psychologist, comes to England to research a thesis entitled "Serial Killing: A Forgivable Act?". Then, there's Ralph, a loner with a bit of previous who's looking for some distraction. Drawn together by horrific circumstances, the lives of these three characters slowly intersect as they embark upon a long dark journey, through remorse and forgiveness, which finally ascends into the light.

Hedda Gabler, one of the most notorious women in theatre, saw her time as a single girl run out and so she married academic George Tesman, a man she clearly no longer loves - if, indeed, she ever did. Now Hedda is driven to diabolical ends trying to discover purpose in her life as she increasingly finds the world closing in on her.

Chicken is an exciting new play by Peterborough-based theatre company Eastern Angles whose previous productions include the acclaimed musical documentary Parkway Dreams, the Flag Fen community play Dark Earth and the hugely popular one-act play Our Nobby.

When Isaac Williams set off to catch his usual bus, little did he realise that he'd meet the most important people of his life... quickly falling for kindhearted Sophie, he finds himself fighting for her affection with rival suitor Chris. It's not until Sophie's feisty friend Zoe shows up though that it becomes apparent that, ultimately, everyone is playing 'Love Games'.

Chicken is a quirky and darkly comic new play by nationally acclaimed Norfolk writer Molly Davies. It explores family relationships, human fear and difference and reveals the poignancy of parenthood. It also charts the journey a farm bird takes before becoming the centrepiece of a disastrous supper party!

Purple Dreams Productions are back with their 'Next Stage' Tour, kicking off with this saucy comedy offering you plenty of love, lust with laughter and lies!

The Anatomy of Melancholy

The Comedy of Terrors!

Friday 11 – Saturday 12 April at 7.45pm

The devilishly funny farce by John Goodrum

[KTh]

Tickets: £12 (£8 concessions, Key Theatre Club £7.50)

Tuesday 22 – Thursday 24 April at 7.30pm (plus 2.30pm Wed matinée)

The Anatomy of Melancholy has been described as “the greatest book ever written”. Nearly 400 years old, it is a vast (1500 page) attempt to identify the causes, symptoms and cures for all kinds of melancholy. Written by vicar and librarian Robert Burton it contains all the wisdom of its age – arcane, outlandish and hilarious.

Tickets: £16.50 (£14 concessions, Key Theatre Club £13)

Yet, amidst all the wild stories and suppositions, much of its advice remains as urgent and profound now as it did then. The time has come for Stan’s Cafe to bring the world’s most extraordinary self-help manual to the stage.

When Jo Smith arrives for an audition with director Vyvian Jones, it turns out she’s actually been invited to the theatre by Vyvian's twin brother Beverley, who wants her to impersonate her own twin sister Fiona, to persuade Vyvian that Beverley hasn’t had a fling with Fiona ... he has, but doesn't want Vyvian to tell his fiancee Cheryl! And when the real Fiona turns up, not to mention Vyvian (a member of the Clay Cross Sons of Satan Association, who wants to use Jo for his first human sacrifice) and Beverley and Vyvian’s identical policeman brother Janet (don’t ask!) the stage is well and truly set for a fast-moving madcap comedy of multiple mistaken identity. “a farcical and hilarious couple of hours ... Susan Earnshaw and John Goodrum are fabulous!” (Bracknell News) www.rumpustheatrecompany.co.uk Box Office 01733 207239 vivacity-peterborough.com

Ruby Wax – Sane New World

[KTh]

Saturday 25 January at 8pm

Thursday 6 March at 7.30pm

Tickets: £15

Tickets: £17.50 (£15 concessions)

Fresh from a record-breaking season of shows at London’s Soho Theatre and a total sell-out season at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2012, South African comedian, Trevor Noah is proud to present his critically acclaimed show, The Racist, on a ground-breaking tour of the UK which will include a performance at the iconic Apollo, Hammersmith.

Ruby Wax – comedian, writer, mental health campaigner – shows us just how our minds can send us mad as our internal critics play on a permanent loop tape. Ruby knows this only too well. She has been on a tough but enlightening journey through depression which has taken her from The Priory through to an MA from Oxford in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy.

Trevor has been performing for a little over five years but his explosion onto the South African entertainment scene has been nothing short of meteoric, taking on TV, radio and his first love, stand up comedy, which he has performed on both local and international stages including the UK and US. His sharp wit, intelligent commentary, unmistakable charm and clinical delivery have established him as an extremely popular performer with undoubted world-class potential.

This show helps us all understand why we sabotage our sanity, how our brains work and how we can rewire our thinking to find calm in a frenetic world. Helping you become the master, not the slave, of your mind, this show is your route to saner living.

Tickets: £16.50

Tuesday 18 March at 8.30pm

Andrew O'Neill, struggling to maintain concentration for long enough to write a new comedy show, decided to write about the fact that he was struggling to maintain concentration long enough to write a new comedy show.

After being “sent off” the Soccer AM sofa last year for misbehaving, Chris wonders whether he really is the Most Dangerous Man on Saturday Morning TV – not to mention, whether he wants to be.

Tickets: £12 (£10 concessions)

Nominated Best Comedy act at Adelaide Fringe, Andrew has also been on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle and heard on Radio One and Radio 5 Live.

Fresh from a complete sell-out, twice extended 2012 tour, multiple appearances on Celebrity Juice and 8 Out of 10 Cats, and a starring role in BBC Two’s Hebburn, Chris embarks on a brand new tour for 2013/2014. Taking his brush with on air censorship as a jumping off point to muse on life, mistakes, expectation and offense, he examines what happens when you say the wrong thing in the wrong place at the wrong time.

‘He's got a natural optimism and love of silliness that leaves you feeling remarkably positive... a winning blend of polemic and off-beat whimsy. The very definition of Alternative’ The Guardian

Undoubtedly one of the most talked-about shows on the improvised comedy circuit, Austentatious: An Improvised Novel is an hour-long comedy play spun in the inimitable style of Jane Austen – and based entirely on audience suggestions. After smash hit runs in Edinburgh in 2012 and 2013, and ever growing popularity in London, Austentacious comes to Peterborough to cook up their plays full of wit, flirtation and dastardly behaviour. Thursday 17 April at 7.30pm

Sunday 13 April at 7.30pm

Tickets: £20

Tickets: £18.50

Jazz Legend, Chris Barber, celebrates his 65th Anniversary as band-leader in 2014 with a Europe-wide concert tour.

In 1973 a record was released which would bridge the generation gap and become a rock anthem to both young and old - '20th Century Boy' was written and composed by Marc Bolan, who with his band T.Rex, was one of the most flamboyant and charismatic of the original glam rock era. With Bolan's special ingredient of Rock-a-Boogie songs throughout the 1970s including 'Telegram Sam' and 'Jeepster' he was able to obtain what would be yet another Top 20 record later in 1976 that has since become one of the most memorable and everlasting signature tunes, 'I Love to Boogie'.

Inspired by the 'King Oliver Creole Jazz Band', Chris formed his first Band in 1949 at the age of nineteen and has since gone on to become not only Europe's most successful and influential bandleaders, but a bona fide jazz legend. With his 10-piece band, featuring a 7-strong front line, Chris plays a selection of his favourite music: from his roots in New Orleans style in ‘Bourbon Street Parade’ to the early music of Duke Ellington and Sidney Bechet ... before going back to ‘When the Saints’!

The Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor June Stokes, will host the annual 'Last Night of the Proms' on Sunday 27th April 2014. The event will raise money for her chosen charities: “Inspire Peterborough”, Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, Wednesday PHAB Club and Parents United.

Set in the quiet New England town of Eastwick, three bored divorced housewives wish upon the moon for the perfect man to come into their lives. They get more than they bargained for with the arrival of the devilish Darryl Van Horne. Darryl whips up a frenzy, bringing magic and mayhem to the town....prepare to be spellbound. With illusions, flying, a wonderful score and huge Broadway dance numbers, 'The Witches of Eastwick' promises to be a night of pure pleasure. .

The usual favourites from the Last Night of the Proms, along with a selection of well-known pieces will be performed by local musicians. A prize raffle will also be held during the evening. So come along, wave your Union Jacks, raise your bowler hats in a fun filled evening full of popular classics and favourite tunes.

This show contains scenes of a mildly sexual nature and occasional strong language.
