You can only be part of the lifestyle membership scheme once, unless authorised by a Senior Manager at Vivacity. When signing up for the lifestyle membership, you must commit to a standard membership at Vivacity after the 3 month programme period. Therefore you must provide your direct debit information. You can cancel your standard membership at any time.

Improve your quality of life with our gentle exercise classes

Vivacity can help you lead a healthier, more active lifestyle, with a tailored programme of light exercise classes on our exercise referral scheme. If you are living with a long standing health condition, are aged 16 years or over and currently lead an inactive lifestyle, then we can offer a range of classes to get you back on your feet. Tea and coffee is served after every class in a friendly setting.

Diabetes Making exercise a regular element of your diabetes management plan can reduce the risk of heart and kidney disease, as well as helping to improve circulation, reduce stress levels and encourage weight loss.

Regular exercise can help to strengthen your heart and cardiovascular system, improve circulation and increase energy levels.

Cardiac & respiratory conditions If you are living with asthma, emphysema, a respiratory condition or have undergone heart surgery, you will find that specific breathing exercises and physical activity can help to improve the quality of your life.

Any health condition This class is for people living with any health condition that wants to get back into exercise. Our classes involve gentle aerobic, strengthening and stretching exercises and are customised to your needs, conditions and abilities.

Cancer rehabilitation Physical activity is important for cancer patients at all stages of the cancer care pathway. During cancer treatment It can improve or prevent the decline of physical function without increasing fatigue. After cancer treatment It can help recover physical function. Musculoskeletal disorders This class is for people living with arthritis, osteo-arthritis, osteoporosis or general joint pain. Exercise can increase synovial fluid protection to keep joints healthy and increase bone density. This can lead to significant health benefits, including increased joint range and stronger ligaments.

Overweight or obese

Increasing mobility

If you have a BMI higher than 25, you will be at greater risk of developing diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease.

This gentle exercise class will reduce your chances of becoming obese or getting type 2 diabetes and can reduce your blood pressure.

Being more physically active decreases your risk of cardiovascular disease, enhances the immune system and reduces the risk of colon cancer and depression.

This class can also help if you are recovering from an injury and have undergone physiotherapy.

Stress, anxiety & depression During exercise our bodies produce endorphins, which act as major mood enhancers, particularly if you suffer from depression, anxiety or stress related illnesses.

Dementia Exercise has been shown to improve cognition, improving memory and slowing down mental decline, as well as reducing depression, anxiety and stress related illness.

Aerobic exercise has been proven to help reduce stress and increase blood flow to the brain.
