HIDDEN LIFE Hidden Life is both a museum and support center based on domestic abuse. This project was designed in a way that allows viewers to feel the impact of abuse without actually exposing them to lifethreatening situations. The circulation of the space was inspired by common red-flags in an abusive relationship and how it’s hard for people to escape. Exibits are designed in a way to throw guests off balance and make them just slightly uncomfortable (i.e. floor changes, exhibits that are only visible to those standing directly above or below, light changes, etc.) but once they reach the end, there is a sense of clarity and understanding of what was wrong. Viewers then walk through the space again, noticing everything that they missed the first time around.

The large audio, visual, and lecture space is the beginning and ending of the museum circulation path. Again, resembling the red flags of domestic abuse relationships, at first the space seems simple and appealing. There is not much to focus on in the space besides the glowing light. This light glows and dims for 9 seconds all day long throughout the museum, which represents the statistic that every 9 seconds a woman in the United States is assaulted or beaten in a relationship. Viewers do not see this statistic until they reach the end which is located on the mezzanine at the end of the path.

STUDIO LOFT This studio loft project was to practice 3D modeling and rendering programs, such as Revit and 3D Studio Max. I designed a loft in a city that focused on a simple eclectic style that allowed for comfortable nooks and open space. Darker colors were used for walls and cabinetry, a large white floor was in place to lengthen and brighten up the room, and pops of yellow were added for an energetic atmosphere. The client I designed this for was myself, and I styled this in a way that allowed me to effectively work from home while still having this be my private space.

PREMIER ADVERTI SING Premier Advertising is an advertising agency for the film industry. Inspired by art deco geometry and colors, this design focuses on symmetry and the importance of private spaces. There are opportunities for collaboration and open work stations that employees can access. This space is also completely sustainable, with solar panels, green roof, underground cisterns, and materiality.

SAVE THE AMAZON “Save the Amazon was the theme for the IDEC Competition in the fall of 2016. This particular facility was located in Florida, and volunteers would meet here for training and prepare priot to going to the Amazon itself. This project was research intensive and required collaboration with many different students. Our concept was to focus on the positive features that the Amazon includes, while still giving volunteers an understanding of the dangers. Taking inspirations from the cultures living within, the botany and nature, and the animals that inhabit the rainforest, we designed a colorful and vibrant learning/living facility.

KNOT IT Located in Manayunk, Pennsylvania, Knot It is retail store that sells high quality knitting and crochet utensils. Merino wool is the primary material for these creations - such as blankets, clothing, and accessories. The design of this project was heavily aimed towards the introvert and their needs. With a communal knitting area that oversees the entire store and outdoors, this is a comfortable setting where people who knit can socialize, gain inspiration, and have materials readily at hand for their use.

CANTILEVER CONSTRUCTION To further understand structural systems, I created a cantilever construction system based off of beams and coloums. This was a simple introduction into architectural structure and how to design within a cantilever building.

JAPANESE LOFT While learning of different cultural lifestyles, this project was based off of the traditional Japanese home in a modernized city. Noting the importance of privacy, family interactions, and feng shui - this loft incorporates many opportunities to experience these qualities. The rooftop is accessible with a garden and lounge space to overlook Old City, Philadelphia. At this time there was little to no digital programs used, rather hand drafted and rendered.

JAPANESE RESTAURANT In addition to the loft, the same clients who resided in the loft also owned a restaurant in the same building below them. Instead of focusing primarily on tradtional designs, this project focused on combining both traditional and fusion influences on Japanese and Asian themed restaurants. Still emphasizing the quality of privacy, the restaurant has multiple opportunities for intimate dining, but also more interactive spaces such as the yellow-green glowing bar. The simple geometry from the loft becomes more dynamic and introduces curves to major elements - such as the staircase, bar, and booth seating options.
