1.7 Brand Attributes
Lviv 2026 is a brand born with a huge challenge: to represent the Passion and Transformation of a city and the entire country—and project its distinctions to the world. The Lviv 2026 Olympic brand expresses unity, inspires achievement and optimism. It is a living vibrant mirror of a city that expresses warmth, tradition, celebration and joy, while embracing the entire world.
Aimed at fostering a celebratory atmosphere and creating memorable experiences, the Lviv 2026 ‘look’ is far more than a mere branding exercise – these designs will be a source of inspiration, bringing people and cultures together. Venues, products, uniforms – everything associated with the Lviv 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games, will have this stamp. The city will put on its best clothes to host the greatest sporting spectacle on the planet.
The Lviv 2026 brand is elegant, detailed, and symbolic. It’s representative of the Olympic crowns that victors were given in the Greek olympics, as well as the winter wreaths found in Ukraine during the winter. This brand identity is friendly, warm, bold, and represents unity, history and tradition. It’s detail is exciting and unique to Lviv, while it’s shape and type are meant to appeal to the worldwide audience.
Inspiration and concepts that guided the creation of the brand originated from a simple, yet powerful idea: what distinguishes our city and makes the Olympic Games a truly grand event are the people, their nature, their feelings and aspirations. Inspired by Ukraine’s rich history and art culture, this brand represents tradition and celebration. The stitched wreath that this logo was based on is a celebratory wreath that is stitched and hung around Ukraine during the winter season. It’s celebratory spirit became an inspiration, along with it’s richness of tradition and history.
Our visual language is based on the art culture and traditions of Lviv. The typefaces, both simple and traditional, express Lviv’s commitment to holding onto it’s rich history. The design arose from the winter tradition of wreaths in Lviv, along with the Olympic wreath that was used to crown the victors back in the day. The first step in the creative process was to open our eyes to what was around us – the people, places, images, traditions, monuments, colors, sensations... this wealth of inspiration became the focal point of a photographic immersion exercise, deepening our knowledge of the city’s visual highlights. After extensive research, we were able to capture the spirit of Lviv in a simple yet elegant logo.

2 The Lviv 2026 Olympic Games Brand The Olympic Symbols There are a series of immediately recognizable symbols that create the identity of the Games. These symbols transmit the Olympic values. They are the Olympic Rings and the Olympic Emblem.
8
2.1 Olympic Emblem Passion and Transformation Passion that unifies all Ukranians in organizing the Lviv 2026 Olympic Games. Transformation in the pride of creating a new reality for progress. Passion through sports, reflected in the drive and desire for achievement. The passion of the Ukrainian soul that extends a warm and friendly embrace, in a collective gesture that expresses our contagious celebratory nature. Passion and transformation of a city and an entire country, fueled by the renovation of the Olympic and Paralympic spirit, projecting Lviv and Ukraine to the world. Passion and transformation of our planet and its people, by promoting a more interdependent, conscious and sustainable culture, as an inspiration to the present and a legacy for the future.
2.2 The Olympic Rings These form the principal symbol of the Olympic Games and the official logo of the IOC. The Olympic rings were conceived in 1913 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, who was responsible for the rebirth of the Olympic Games in the modern era. The five interlinked rings represent the union of the five main continents. They are colored blue, yellow, black, green and red.

2.4 Typography The design of the Lviv 2026 font depicts the essence of the Olympic emblems: Passion and Transformation. The boldness of this creation is in the design and in its importance for the design market in Lviv. The Lviv 2026 font (Trajan Pro Bold) was chosen because of it’s node to history, and it’s ability to bring something simple into a rather elegant and detailed logo.
Two standardized fonts have been chosen for the Olympic brand identity. They are to be used in all printed and online communications. Each of the typefaces was selected for its visual compatibility with the Olympic emblem and for its ability to convey a personality that is consistent with our brand story. Only use the weights and styles shown on this page.

2.5 Primary Typeface TRAJAN | Carol Twombly (type designer, designed typeface in 1989 for Adobe) has described Trajan as being an old style serif typeface that is based on the letterforms of capitalis monumentalis, or Roman square capitals, as used for inscription at the base of Trajan’s Column from which the typeface takes it’s name.
TRAJAN PRO REGULAR— CAPS ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ1234567890 TRAJAN PRO BOLD — CAPS ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ1234567890
This typeface is more ‘open’ than non-humanist sans serifs. The humanist sans serif has been a significant trend in post PostScript type design. Types of this kind combine a commitment to positive change with a respect for the past, effectively displaying a kind of softedged modernism.
2.6 Secondary Typeface FRUTIGER | This typeface was chosen for its friendly, complementary qualities to the open modern typeface Trajan Pro Bold.
FRUTIGER — Light ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ1234567890 abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz1234567890 FRUTIGER — Bold ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ1234567890 abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz1234567890
