MY DREAM PROJECT I have a passion for typography, graphic illustrations and editorial, and my inspiration derives from brands like Harper Bazaar’s and ELLE. Having the opportunity to work on a spread or create graphics for ELLE would be my dream project, and something that would create a sense of fulfillment for me as a graphic designer. This is a magazine that I have idolized from a young age for their designs and layouts. Bea Feitler, a women who worked as a header designer for ELLE and Bazaars, is one of my inspirations as a graphic designers.

promotional plan: In order to achieve this dream project, I would use my networking skills, connections, portfolio and my built up knowledge and skills as a graphic designer to pursue a position on a project at ELLE magazines offices in Toronto. This would be something I take on later on in my career after building up a name and identity for myself.

GOALS SHORT-TERM / MID-TERM / LONG-TERM Short-term: To establish my freelance career, build networking connections and to finalize my portfolio. . . . Mid-term: By year four, doing projects as a freelance designer by referals and have a large client base in creative industries. Have a job as a senior designer at a well established design firm in Toronto. . . . Long-term: By year six own my own Graphic Design agency as an art director and do large scale projects for big and small names in the industry. As well, contribute to major projects for large scale companies.

MY ROAD MAP

My ideal plan would be to do an additional year of schooling in New York City at Parsons university, to build on my existing knowledge. Following this I would want to start off as a freelance graphic designer to build up my resume and then gain direct knowledge first hand about the field through internship positions. After this I would use my experience, and built relationships in the industry to get a job in the industry.
