Welcome to Glasgow Foodie Magazine! A magazine collated by @glasgowfoodie of Twitter and Foodie Explorers. We have reviews of Sunday Lunch at The Honours at Malmaison, and Monday Taste Club at 111 by Nico. Plus beer festival news from Giffnock Beer Festival and a new opening Shilling Beer Company. We hope each month to expand the magazine, however like the site its an unpaid labour of love so please bear with us as we learn how to use our computer! For up to date info follow us on Love

Di n e 111 BY NICO 111 CLEVEDEN ROAD KELVINDALE GLASGOW
It?s slightly hidden away, between a Spar and Dry Cleaners in Kelvindale, but only a 5 minute walk from Great Western Road.
Monday Taste Club
We?d booked the M on day Tast e Clu b after seeing photos online ? the deal is currently £20 per person and not £30 as stated on the menu. 111 by Nico used to be Simply Fish (which served some for each is still and an additional £30 ofMatched the bestwine fish and chipscourse in Glasgow, before that it peran person you?re one called of those who a was Italianif restaurant La people Famiglia. It?swants still the bigger booze same than food same owners, chef bill. but now with a more varied menu and focus on that fine-dining. We arrived to find many others had taken them up on the Monday deal, the restaurant was packed and full of chatter so we were glad we?d booked.
Food-wise 111 by Nico is really good and probably already up there with the best that Glasgow has to offer by way of fine-dining. You probably won?t find this standard of food for £20 or even £30 anywhere else within the city? but we have a few gripes, mainly that we were still a bit hungry after 5 courses and a shared 6th course, that it was really noisy with people talking so it?s not a great place for a quiet/romantic night out. Staff were generally very good but they didn?t tell us what cheeses we had and made the mistake of topping up our gin with a full bottle of tonic. The Italian beers listed on their website were also not available when we visited but they did have bottles of Stewart Brewing beer for £4.50 each. The total cost of our meal for two was £73.40. Before dining here we?d heard a few people talking about how 111 by Nico could finally be the place to get a coveted Michelin star for Glasgow but we?d say no, not yet. Cail Bruich is still the front-runner in our opinion. Toilets are upstairs and were basic but clean. The music was covers of chart hits but we?d have preferred no music as the place was so noisy. Fu ll Review HERE TL;DR + Great value fine-dining + Staff were generally pretty good + Toilets clean ? Small courses so we still had room for more food ? Very noisy (when full anyway) so a struggle to chat

Ler w ick Br ew er y r elease Azu r e in bot t les We love Lerwick Brewery, OK we love beer generally, but Lerwick hold a special wee place as Mrs Foodies Gran came from Shetland so double love for these folks. Azure has now moved from draught to bottle and will feature in the Aldi su m m er beer f est ival launching this Th u r sday 9t h Ju n e. Made with Rakau hops from New Zealand and Cascade hops from America, this is a lighter brew and not as hoppy as is the current trend. The prices at Aldi are great for an intro to some decent beers, so get in quick.

Su n day Lu n ch at Th e Hon ou r s, Glasgow M alm aison After walking through the impressive entrance at Glasgow Mal, head downstairs on the spiral staircase and you can go straight into the restaurant or have a pre-lunch drink in the bar. We, of course, had a cheeky little cocktail ? well not quite cheeky, we were being good so had a mocktail, made using a new watermelon syrup that had just arrived for the bar staff to experiment with! Inside the restaurant the decor is muted, there?s a mix of seating with the central booths arranged a bit like fairground waltzers!
A surprisingly huge cut of steak, this was seriously melt-in-the-mouth and one of the best steaks we?ve ever had in Glasgow! A delicious slice of sirloin from Donald Russell served alongside crisp vegetables and a crispy yorkshire pudding This is one for our recommendations for the Best Su n day Lu n ch in Glasgow . Staff were helpful and courteous (as always), lunch was well-paced and the toilets were in tip-top shape. Full Review HERE.
TL;DR + Soup might not excite everyone but the veloutĂŠ was exceptional + Huge steak and one of the best in Glasgow + The suggested wines were lovely + Great service ? The souffle sank a bit but it still tasted great
