Students study for two GCSEs, one in General Engineering, and the second focusing on Industrial Technology. The course is taught through practical work and suits students who are at home in the workshop environment. Subject areas covered are: Manufacturing Designing New Technologies Materials Workshop Practices Engineering Principles Health and Safety Sustainability Assessment Arrangements Each GCSE requires the production of practical artefacts and coursework portfolios. To ensure the academic rigour of the course, the coursework is carried out under controlled assessment conditions, and both GCSEs also include examined units which are externally set and marked.
