Hornsea Banner Design Competition

upils from two Hornsea Primary Schools have taken part in designing new street lamp banners in a bid to highlight Hornsea Resort.The competition organised by the Hornsea Area Regeneration Partnership (Harp) is part of their efforts to support the local regeneration and economic development. Speaking to the Hull Daily Mail, Harp chairman Councillor Barbara Jefferson said: "The pupils have done a wonderful job with their designs and we are really proud to be able to highlight the talent and enthusiasm of Hornsea's young people."There were so many wonderful designs. It was really hard to find a first, second and runner-up.Featured among the designs were the

Trans Pennine Trail, the museum, Hornsea Pottery, the mere, the folly and, of course, the beach."The prizes were awarded to the winners by Hornsea Freeport and Stephen Armstrong from The Southgate Studio.Stephen Armstrong spoke to the Hull Daily Mail: “It is wonderful to see the completion of this project, which helps brighten up the town's main shopping streets and encourages young artists in the area to develop their skills."The project is one of several being carried out to attract tourists to Hornsea. Recent projects include the interpretation of the Glacial Erratic boundary stone at the end of Soutthgate, the provision of new information panels developed by Hornsea Civic Society and Harp.
