INFINITE HORIZON THE CAMPAIGN FOR EMMA WILLARD SCHOOL
Let’s make history together I invite you to be part of Infinite Horizon: The Campaign for Emma Willard School—the largest campaign for an independent girls’ secondary school in American history. Our goal is $175 million. But Infinite Horizon is about much more than that groundbreaking number. It’s about preparing new generations of students to wrestle with vast new challenges. It’s about giving more bright students access to an exceptional education. It’s about flexibility and conviction, creativity and self-mastery, history and innovation—for our students, for our teachers, for our school. Stand with me on this stunning hilltop. See what we can build together. See the ways in which we can honor—and extend—the legacy of Emma Hart Willard. See the horizon, our horizon, radiant with promise. JENNY RAO HEAD OF SCHOOL

We see Emma Willard continuing to live our mission, opening pathways for students who will benefit from our education
An endowed Educational Innovation Fund will support teachers as they integrate current research in girls’ education; offer incentives to explore new projects and programs; and serve as a recruitment and retention tool for new faculty who have demonstrated exceptional teaching abilities, are eager to contribute to our culture of innovation, and seek a strong sense of belonging in a community of peers. We’ll expand our Experiential Learning and Travel Program, giving students more opportunities to gain hands-on experience, engage with the wider world, and cultivate empathy, courage, and independence. We’ll increase our Endowment for Programs and Faculty, ensuring that they get the financial, personal, and professional support they deserve.

We are positioned to attract the brightest scholars and students. Applications for admission continue to set annual records and our acceptance rate is among the best of independent girls’ schools. Yet we struggle to meet the needs of many of our families; many of our peer schools have more comprehensive admission and aid programs; and we draw the majority of our aid from our budget, not from endowed funds.

Led by an unprecedented gift from Alice Dodge Wallace ’38, we see a contemporary home for the arts at the heart of campus
We will dramatically increase our endowed funds for Financial Aid—the best way to sustain our support for high-achieving, hard-working students, regardless of their circumstances. We will endow named scholarship funds to support outstanding students with high financial need, including domestic boarding students and students from the Capital Region. And we will enhance programs that remove barriers to visiting and applying to Emma Willard.

Guided by designs from the renowned firm of Ann Beha Architects, we’ll create the Alice Dodge Wallace ’38 Center for the Performing Arts in a rejuvenated Alumnae Chapel and an exciting new facility nestled within the landscape behind it. Highlights include a 450-seat concert hall and community gathering space; a new studio theatre; two new dance studios; and new rehearsal rooms and faculty offices. We’ll increase our Endowment for Arts Programs and Faculty, allowing us to bring more artists and performers to campus, create new experiential learning opportunities, establish fellowships and artist-inresidence programs, and ensure that every student has full access to our community’s astonishing creative work.

Education is always evolving; our academic spaces must evolve with it. We’ll Reimagine and Modernize Our Facilities in a number of ways: upgrading classrooms, incorporating cutting-edge technology, updating our makerspace, reinvigorating our library and visual arts studios, making a home for our robotics club, and rehabilitating a space dedicated to spiritual exploration. We’ll establish an endowed fund for the Preservation of Historic Structures, allowing us to attend to pressing needs, update core facilities, and plan for continual maintenance—including masonry and woodwork—that meets the school’s high standards.
