My interest in working in landscape design stems from wanting to create an ecological impact in the world. This area of interest provided creative freedom, collaboration, and the opportunity to create accessible spaces in my design work. Through my studies in Landscape Architecture, I have found that I can use my artistic abilities to quickly and efficiently show concepts to clients and fellow designers. I am a senior in the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program at Thomas Jefferson University’s College of Architecture and the Built Environment. As a recent inductee of Tau Sigma Delta, I volunteer with the Fairmount Park Conservatory and the Jefferson Community Outreach Office to improve gardens and pathways in and around Philadelphia. After spending a summer as one of two Katherine Mabis McKenna Foundation Landscape Interns at Fallingwater, I am spending my senior year as the 20232024 President of the TJU American Society of Landscape Architects Student Chapter.

h2woah! trail network
Partnered with Logan Lewis (TJU) Working with the Preschool Students at Smith Urban Nature (SUN) Preschool, we designed a trail network themed around water. We had to think and play like a kid to truly be able to design with them. I concentrated on the trail’s end, connecting the new pathway to an existing trail (Boxer’s Trail in East Fairmount Park) and making the Fountain Green Drive and Kelly Drive (East River Drive) safer for the little two to five year olds.

hut on sleds at neshaminy
The initial project was to simply create a rendering of a pre-existing cabin and place it in a state park in Pennslyvania. Upon further reflection, there was a realization of how unique the coastal landscape of Neshaminy Park is in comparision to the mountains and forested plains that cover most of Pennslyvania. This started a continuation of the project with a study of tidal freshwater marsh plant surveys and creating a new planting plan for the park, with regards to the Hut on sleds.

FEATURED IN SPACEWORKS 09 An attempt to animate a welcoming community entrance as an addition to the Athletic Recreation Center in the Sharswood and Brewerytown Neighborhoods in Philadelphia. This design makes an already-existing community space more inviting to the public and neighborhood. This will positively impact how people interact with the space while bringing muchneeded attention to the Athletic Recreation Center. Scan QR Code below for animated video

bucket formwork what is this? In order to experiment with concrete, the project was to use a formwork (such as a propped sock in a bucket) to understand the flexibility of concrete as a building material. We were given complete and total creative freedom; the only limitations were that 1) the finished structure had to be standing at or over 12” tall, 2) The fabric or other formwork was to be removed, and 3) some creativity to be used in the process. I chose an ambitious formwork- three socks braided together, with the intention to have three separate concrete pillars that would only be ‘attached’ with their intertwining shape. The form was easy enough to make, but getting the fabric off... Not so much. 13

is this a failure?
In the last project for Architectural Technology class, we used concrete. There were a lot of studies on rebar and form building, environmental impacts form making Portland cConcrete, and how to best use this material when it comes to design and construction. The main idea was to fundmentally understand concrete as a building material.
I do not consider this as a failure, as many people (including myself ) have been intrigued by the end result that is this bizarre-shaped and weirdly-colored structure. The making of the form was simple and straightforward, but the process of getting the formwork off the concrete has been quite the adventure. I took the concrete masonist’s words of “burn it” to heart, and have proceeded to light this concrete pillar on blazing fire for several nights since this form was made. I also used some brute force to try and rip off the fabric. The final result is this shredded, cracked, and darkwith-ash form. If I had to make this pillar again, I would have a different fabric that is much more flammable than polyester, and would actually burn away. 14
a&d and the phantom tree
Partnered with Kristina Kvavle-Slay (TJU) Challenged with finding and solving a real urban hydrology issue in our local area, we chose a site that constantly floods whenever it rains- the ‘A&D Pond’. Upon research, we found that there used to be a large tree situated right where the flooding happens- a clear indicator that the site desperately needed new planting to manage the water flooding in the absence of the phantom tree.

fallingwater bore sites
Partnered with Grazelle Giray (UMD) In the Summer of 2023, I had the honor of serving as one of two Katherine Mabis McKenna Foundation Fallingwater Landscape Interns at Mill Run, PA. Shown here is a sample of work of designing a restoration project for disturbed ‘bore’ sites on the Fallingwater by Frank Llyod Wright’s grounds. For a full recap of our Fallingwater experience, please scan the QR code below.
