Inspired by perspective distortions, this double breasted semi-fitted jacket includes a feature collar and diagonal stripes depicting the movement of optical illusion. The tab collar is detachable from the waistcoat lapels, making the outfit versatile and multifunctional. It has familiarities with conventional tailoring yet challenges the viewer’s perspective as things are not what they first appear. Traditional tailoring references include hand finishing techniques, right chest welt pocket (hand finished) and shoulder epaulette structure amongst others. Inner structure construction elements and processes marry traditional tailoring with RTW in order to create flattering shaping and a desirable fit.

The challenge of matching stripes yet retaining form is emphasised in this semi-fitted double breasted waistcoat, with predominantly diagonal stripes meeting at a chevron at the back. Jett pockets with flaps follow the angle of the stripe and lapels have hidden buttons so can be detached from the jacket collar. Functional jigger button fastenings pass through both waistcoat and jacket for the garments to be worn as one, these feature black horn buttons.
The trousers reference traditional tailoring by featuring a peak waistband and drop cross pocket. Other references include a vertical striped front and back and horizontally striped waistband. The grey and black cloths are used as a subtle contrast to each other. Diagonal stripes set off the trouser hem, incorporating stripe matching techniques that feature in the waistcoat and jacket.
