Events & Happenings Cure Search Walk May 17th If you have yet to be a part of one of these amazing fundraising walks, take the opportunity to join this special event for Children’s Cancer. The Cure Search walk raises money for research for childhood cancer. This event is in honor and celebration of hose children who have been effected by childhood cancer. There will be prizes, music, food, activities, and of course the annual walk. Childhood cancer is the leading cause of childhood death today. With a wide range of cancers, the foundation fund prevention research as well as clinical trials for better cures. The Cure search walk begins at 9am on Saturday May 17th. You can register online. Adults 16+ are $10 to walk. Ask friends and family to support your walk. Raise $100 and get a free t-shirt. The Cure search has a goal to raise $38,000 this year. To help this cause walk the race, support and walker, or make a donation. Take a step in Japan right here is Palm Beach County. The Morikami museum and Japanese garden is a fantastic place to visit. The museum provides an authentic taste of Japanese cultural through cultural experiences and exhibits. This Saturday be a part of a Tea Ceremony. This Japanese ceremony shows the reverence and spiritual aspects the Japanese hold for tea. Sip on green and sweet teas to center your spirit and calm your busy life. Cost is $5 plus admission. The program is held at noon, 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm in their tea house. After the ceremony take some time to tour their picturesque gardens where you will see structures and plants inspired by true Japanese gardens. Next take a stroll through the museum where you will view true Japanese art and history. Last visit their Yamato-kan where you get to see some of the original Pioneers who traveled to Florida from Japan. See how they were impacted by Florida as well as their influence in creating Florida Agriculture today. Yes you! The Sneaker lover! This event is catered towards those who love sneakers. This is one of the largest sneaker festivals in the country. Some and buy, sell, or trade your sneakers through the hundreds of vendors available. If you love sneakers or wants a new pair of kicks, this is for you. Preregister online. Tickets are $10 ahead, $15 at the door. Bring as many shoes as you can carry through the door and yes backpacks are allowed to trade up for new shoes. Event is held at the Palm Beach Convention Center from 12-5pm.
