Sleep Out Friday April 17 SleepOut is an event to help raise awareness about homelessness in Palm Beach County. Sponsored by the Lord’s Place, a local organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness. The Lord’s Place offers people supportive housing, job training and job placement. They offer training in landscaping, food preparation and catering, as well as retail jobs. With their efforts, they were able to bring down the Palm Beach homelessness by 91% in the last 30 years. This event helps raise money for The Lord’s place. Entrance fees are $25. Food and Beverages will be available for purchase. Entertainment and a Silent Auction will be held from 6-8pm with the SleepOut beginning at 8:00pm. Hear stories from the life changes throughout the past years as well as the mission and Vision of The Lord’s Place. 11:00pm is lights out with the event ending 7:00am Saturday

The Great American Cleanup Saturday April 18 In honor of Earth day on April 22, the nation is coming together to celebrate with The Great American Cleanup. Join people across our nation as we take time out to ensure future generations will be able to see the nature as we see it today. Thousands of volunteers come together each year to clean up the trash from their local environments. Many will also be participating in tree planting, gardening, and other environmental friendly activities. Palm Beach County has many opportunities for participation throughout the county. From Jupiter to Boca, organizations will be setting up cleaning areas across all of the local beaches. State and National parks will have cleaning crews out to pick up trash in your local park. All projects start at 8:00am, unless otherwise noted. Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration Sunday April 19 In honor of Earth Day and Arbor Day, Wellington is putting on this special celebration. On Sunday from 4-7pm, the Wellington Amphitheater will be hosting Earth Friendly Vendors who will teach the community about becoming environmentally friendly. The Jamie Mitchell Band will be playing as you get to meet Smokey the Bear, eat at the various food trucks, get your face painted, or visit one of many demonstrations present. Learn about Honeybees or get your free tree and shrub seedling to bring home. At 4, the village of wellington Council will be planting a wild tamarind tree in honor of Arbor Day!
