How Could NLP Help Us Get More Inner-peace?


 The ancient Roman and Greek philosophy of Stoicism does have a lot in common with goals of the modern NLP: it is a guide to help people live a more productive and happier lives.  But first, got a little bit of background knowledge; primarily there are 2 central tenets to stoicism: Tranquility and Ethics – how does these concepts from more than 2 thousand years back translate into the modern-day world?


Ethics ďƒź Ethics is a term that could sound a little pompous when it comes to modern context, but it can also translate and transcend into an idea that people without any sense of purpose or philosophy for living would be lacking sustainable states or tranquility of well-being. ďƒź They would be heavily drawn to the primal side of human nature and would rather go for an instant gratification and not towards things that would make them happier in a long run.


ďƒź Ethics is also something that one may expect it to be – treating oneself, as well as other people along with the wider system that we are living in with respect.


 Those who fail in doing so often land up with a not-so-good feeling as they haven’t had win-win attitude to relationships and self-care: getting what one wants in the short-run didn’t help the person in the long-run.  NLP programming Mumbai focuses heavily on leading an ethical life for the same reason.


Preset Levels ďƒź There was a study conducted on lottery winners. The study found out that while lottery winners experienced an initial boost of happiness after winning a lottery, they gradually returned to the similar level of happiness as they had before winning. ďƒź It could be said that it is similar to people who have a preset happiness level. ďƒź External wins and goals do not really change this.


ďƒź It happens pertaining to the concept of hedonistic adaptation: we often expect out lives to be much happier when eternal goals and indulges are achieved. ďƒź However, we tend to return to the very same levels of happiness or even mild misery that we had before, very quickly.


 This hedonistic pleasure doesn’t really provide a long-term solution.

 With NLP counselling, you would realize that you need to focus more on things that would provide you long-term happiness rather than seeking hedonistic pleasure.


Goals ďƒź One’s level of happiness could be permanently boosted once their goals are successfully adjusted from the things that they desire in the external world to the changes in one’s things.

 For instance, if one has a goal to want something or to want someone to like the – then it is external goals that cannot be controlled.  At the same time, by changing one’s attitude and accepting the fact that one cannot possibly make someone else like them, and realizing that one could instead act in ways that would surely make themselves more likeable, then the chances of success will grow.
