EMU and Ethiopia METEC Signs Collaboration Agreement
A Collaboration Agreement had been signed between Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Metals and Engineering Corporation of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (METEC) at Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa by EMU Vice Rector For Financial Affairs Prof. Dr. Sevin Uğural and METEC Vice President General Tigabu Fetle. METEC, an institution that produces
56 per cent of Ethiopia’s national income, contacted EMU two years ago and declared their request for Ethiopia’s ministers, undersecretaries and senior bureaucrats to receive masters and PhD education at EMU Department of Economics. EMU begun working on a graduate program for two years and conducted a workshop titled “Priority Topics For Ethiopia’s Economic Progress”
between 22nd – 25th July 2017 at Addis Ababa. EMU Vice Rector For Financial Affairs Prof. Dr. Sevin Uğural who carries out the project for two years, EMU Department of Economics Chairman Prof. Dr. Mehmet Balcılar and two professors from Turkey attended the workshop. As a result of the studies, EMU and METEC had signed a Collaboration Agreement. According
to the agreement, in addition to the fundamental courses provided in its masters and PhD programs, EMU Department of Economics will extend their programs to include courses and projects that are concerned directly with the examination and solution of Ethiopia’s economical problems designed for Ethiopian officials.
