EMU Visits Iran

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Vice Rector for International Affairs and Promotion Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova and his team organised a series of visits to Iran. During the visits which took place on July 2017 Prof.

university’s graduation ceremony, Prof.

Dr. Tanova wished all the graduates great success in their prospective careers. Prof. Dr. Tanova and his team had a meeting with the officials of Gorgan University which has a research center supported by World Heath Organization (WHO). Visiting Gorgan University Agricultural Science Department, laboratories, farms and research centers, Prof. Dr. Tanova expressed his compliments to the crop production and processing approach of the institution. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Tanova paid a visit to the Mayor of Rasht city receiving a city tour with him and discussions on how they brought life into the town center and how the long pedestrian walkways were made took place. On the last

day of the visits, Prof. Dr. Tanova visited Eghtesad – Iranian which is a company based in Tehran that works to form international partnerships, provides trainings and consultancy to both private and public Iranian organizations, and collaboration opportunities were discussed to hold joint conferences or short term training programs.

Prof. Dr. Tanova expressed his pleasure in visiting Iran as well as thanking all the officials for their hospitality and stated that the visits were very productive by means of information exchanges and EMU’s future collaborations.

EMU and Guilan University Signs Protocol

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Guilan University from Iran signed a protocol. The signature ceremony took place on 28th July 2017 Friday at EMU Vice Rector For Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Özkaramanlı’s office.

Recently, EMU Vice Rector For International Affairs and Promotion Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova visited Iran and

came together with Guilan University representatives where they discussed possible collaboration opportunities.

Prof. Dr. Ali Bani came to EMU after Prof. Dr. Tanova’s visit to Iran and expressed their happiness for the information exchange between two universities at both meetings in Iran and TRNC. Guilan University Rector Prof.

Dr. Ahmad Razı said that they are very excited to collaborate with EMU. The protocol between EMU and Guilan University enables collaboration between both universities in strengthening relationships, organizing joint education programs, courses, conferences, symposiums, workshops, joint research, sharing of educational data and exchange of experience. Both universities also

discussed the formation of a possible joint graduate program in engineering.

EMU Tourism and Hospitality Management Programs Once Again Gain World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Accreditation Following the “Teaching Education Quality in Tourism” (TedQual) accreditation by World Tourism Organisation, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Tourism and Hospitality Management programs are once again granted with UNWTO accreditation.

Providing detailed information about the faculty and its accreditations, EMU Tourism Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç expressed his happiness and honour on behalf of the faculty for receiving World Tourism Organisation accreditation which is the world’s most prestigious and prominent authority in tourism field. Stating that being granted with World Tourism Organisation accreditation is a source of pride for EMU which is acting as a pioneer of quality education in tourism field. Prof. Dr. Kılıç

highlighted that EMU is keeps receiving top scores from the inspections regarding its physical and academic structure, instructor quality, administrative mentality, student satisfaction and ethical principals as well as maintaining its place on the top positions among all the accredited institutions.

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç mentioned the rising standards of the tourism field and underlined the significance of accreditations as an indicator of achieving the necessary international standards.

Emhasizing that EMU Tourism and Hospitality Management program is acting as a flagship in providing the sector with qualified graduates as well as continuously improving the educational and academic structure of the departments within the framework of EMU Rector’s Office visions, Prof. Dr. Kılıç underlined that the international standard and quality of EMU is

a very strong reference for the current students and graduates in their prospective job applications.

The Joint Law Postgraduate Program of The University of Bologna and EMU is Accepting Students

The joint postgraduate program of Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and University of Bologna titled “Comparative Legal Systems” has begun accepting students for the 2017 – 2018 Fall Academic Year. The program without thesis will start its first courses on 25th September 2017.

Joint programs in the field of Law are carried out particularly in USA, England and a number of European countries. In this sense, the Comparative Legal Systems masters program have the characteristics of being the first of its kind in Turkey and Cyprus. EMU is the only authority

considering administrative and financial matters at the joint program.

A committee of science had been formed that is consist of EMU and University of Bologna academicians for carrying out the program in the academic fields.

Along with the faculty of law graduates, candidates from other fields who received an undergraduate degree with the condition of completing the preparatory courses may also be accepted to the program. In scope of the one year masters program, the students will earn the opportunity to receive a Joint-Double Degree approved by both universities after successfully completing 10 courses and a term project. Courses such as Free Movement in EU, Human Rights, EU Law, Comparative Constitutional Justice and Comparative Private Law will be thought in the program.

english-language-requirement. All courses will be executed in EMU Faculty of Law. The courses will be thought by EMU Faculty of Law and University of Bologna academicians who will come to EMU for providing these classes.

Indigent Dogs Have Not Been Forgotten Within the scope of EMU FLEPS Social Responsibility Projects, an event titled “Dogs in Need” including 75 students and their academicians Fayka Güresun, Suzanne Kayalp and Yi Zheng, builded 12 shelters for stray dogs in EMU and placed these shelters to various parts of the campus. The students stated that they are very happy to build a shelter to the dogs in need that protects them from hot and cold weather. The students expressed that they would like to continue contributing to stray animals and create social awareness for the bosom friends of humans.

Environmental Cleaning Within the scope of the “Rainbow Project”, EMU FLEPS students had completed another social responsibility project. The students and academicians has done environmental cleaning at the Palm Beach district, aiming to develop environmental consciousness and consolidation of common labor power.

EMU FLEPS students earned the respect of the local residents after conducting different devotedly works.
