+886 931220020 (Taiwan) pupupigman@gmail.com I am an artist from Taiwan, who carefully perceives the relations and interactions between spatial hierarchies and people. With great sensibility, I have a deep insight into the construction, development, transformation, and the destruction of space, expressed the way space interacts and intertwines by space misplacement transformer, which is based on the thinking of value judgement formed by single or multiple space languages. My previous works focus on industrial landscape of architecture, the compulsion of capitalism, the reinterpretation of informatization, the development and change of history and environment and also try to contrast the intertransformation between objectivity and subjectivity by another form of civilization transplant. By using symbolic interpretation and ritualized presentation, it doesn’t provide any answers in any form of description. Instead, it expresses the circumstances under which the works are defined in time. Hence, my installation works from the past are usually tightly connected to the environment they was made and the space they are displayed, strong and irreplaceable. Meanwhile, I have also incorporated my works into performances from musical festivals, dance companies, multimedia, exhibitions.

Biography In 2011, my first installation art which made with a art group: "Conditioned reflex" got the first prize of NTUST art festival award. And next 2 years my installations made to perform with dance company and FORMOZ rock festival, and even hung in National Taiwan Palace museum. In 2014, I was provided to residence and collective exhibit in Museo Ferroviario della Puglia,Lecce,Italy. Although I am a fresh artist who just began my life, but with the new thinking and different way to use symbolic interpretation and ritualized presentation, my works also full of irony or appealing meanings.

When we talk about “historical traces�, it seems like all that are physi- cal had long vanished from this universe. However, while we could not see what they were like in the past, the utmost spirit has been being found in every street corner of the city. Railways that cross over each other traverse the entire city, forming the communication between one field to another and extending them with the most elongated streams. Some views might have disappeared, and some booms might have faded; if the scenery could not anymore been seen, then closing your eyes and listening to it may be a better choice. I hence let myself wander about this terrain of modernity, to discover history of the former times; with the expression of sounds, I see the echo amid time and space. Reconstruct our sense of hearing, and feel the voices that appear to be excluded from reality: those look like nonexistence, are in truth following the ebb and flow of the city, being there in a form of formless.
1949, Nationalist government retreated to Taiwan, they enforced conscription of soldiers all around Taiwan. Every adult men need to join army with conscription military system. Ages passed, peace has come. The system still runs just like a ceremony. Adult men still need to join this purification preformance with many training and dogmas in the army, be purified again and again. Some training or dogmas are untimely or nonsense. BUT, remember carefully, never comment if them are correct or not. They were all made by long stories decades ago. The purpose of these purification ceremonies is purifying adverse thought in the past life, which include violent, lazy, eccentric, cheerful, aesthetics, creativity, reasoning, refute, reviews, freedom, ambition, wisdom and so no. “Conscription military system” will end the show in 2016. Since then, it becomes very difficult to spy on this mysterious and sinister army. So in this project, “Last Conscription_Military aircraft leaks“, I joined, and rescuing last confidential information before everything was sealed. From Dec. 31 2014 to Dec. 31 2015, I'll feel and record every purification ceremonies in the army. These ceremonies include chant songs, the bell of waking times, wardrobe finishing neat, centralized sound of steps, etc. When a man enlist in the army, the first purification ceremony of all is “Tonsure”, to purify their thinking and personality in the past.

Production of industrialism, water flow of nature. Sense of hearing contradicted what we look. Back to earthy essence from industrial body. Replace tangle to minima. Space is not an objective existence, but changed at any time, connects to any others. Significance of garret landscape, tower is a functional exist in industrial space.

Extending from black floor to performance space. Suddenly, the space altogether changed ! The water was trapped among the stage. But, space is not an objective existence. Rolling time influenced the changing space, Break through timing and extensity of place Persons and things pass through each other, subject to change each other’s association. Eliminate performers and viewers’ edge. Performers are the shine, the shadow, the sound, even the time. When you are on the stage you will be one of performers. Reverse gravity, keep the loop, open the space. We think about significance of garret landscape. We think about functional exist tower. Blowing in the wind, relationship of performers and viewers intervened that black stage.

Conditioned reflex Criticism for society. Impressive for pretty. Fantasy for sound. Desire for inspiration. In this work, I am thinking for the essence of creations. Actually, “create” is the mean of work. About environment and human, society and citizen, Perception makes idea, learning makes evolution, thinking makes reaction. Society affects observers, observers intervene society. When white sand full of black ink, and makes conditioned reflex, the dog will Drool after heard the ringing bell. The existence of gravity is inevitable. We don’t need to discuss it any more.
