Cattaraugus County,
in New York State, is a place of convergence for cultures, contrasts, and new perspectives. Travelers come here for the outdoor adventures found at Allegany State Park and Rock City Park, or on the slopes of Holiday Valley and Holimont Ski Resorts. You're sure to enjoy our quaint, community-bound villages like Ellicottville; astonishing art like that found at Griffis Sculpture Park; the carefree entertainment possibilities found at Seneca Allegany Resort and Casino or one of our many other venues. There is an abundance of year-round activities in Cattaraugus County, ranging from kayaking down the Allegheny River to snowmobiling over 450 miles of trails. This all comes together to create a lifestyle that finds the fun no matter what the weather holds. Here, we enjoy clean air and great views while discovering creative inspiration from the world around us. We know the value of a little peace and quiet, and are lucky enough to see stars above on a clear summer night. Our nightlife may never rival that of a big city, but it exists with a surprisingly wide variety of exciting options, especially in the new and revitalized Olean. So slow down to take a closer look—whether for a week or a lifetime. As locals know, Cattaraugus County truly exemplifies the best of what life has to offer. Your life will look different from here—come take in and discover something truly unique.
Allegany State Park is New York's largest State Park with over 65,000 acres of family fun, romantic cabin stays, and fun-filled getaways. Hike, swim, cycle, crosscountry ski, shoeshoe, hunt, fish–the possibilites are endless.
Seneca Allegany Resort and Casino has the distinction of being a AAA Four Diamond Hotel, one of only 28 in NYS outside of the NYC area. The Casino brings in world class entertainment, with everything from Travis Tritt to Ringo Starr.
Ellicottville has evolved into an “aprèsski” center, indicative of much larger areas like as Aspen, and offers a slew of things to do once you’re off the slopes. The town boasts high quality and diversity in dining, lodging, and retail.
Rock City Park is home to the WORLD'S largest exposure of quartz conglomerate with two to three story tall rock formations that have been around some 320 million years. Hear yourself exclaiming "Wow!" as you walk your way through the 45-minute hiking trail.
Chances are you're already somewhat familiar with us. Our biggest attractions are illustrious and popular with both our neighbors and visitors from around the world: Ladies of the Lake Eyes in the Sky Productions

Griffis Sculpture Park was the first sculpture park in the country, and is still one of the largest. You can climb around, under, and on over 250 large steel sculptures of the two interconnecting sites that make up the park: Rohr Hill and Mill Valley Road.

While most of our popular attractions include a large dose of the “good ‘ol outdoors,” we still have an ample amount that are the exact opposite. You can't spend all your time in the woods, right? There is an inherent need for people to be social, to feel the excitement that only nightlife provides, to cut loose, or let someone else do the cooking every once in a while. Enter Olean, our largest city, with improvements completed last year to create a walkable downtown. This major overhaul brought five roundabouts and center medians to North Union St., along with significant water and sewer infrastructure upgrades. This new “Walkable Olean” has already proven itself to be capable of fostering an economic and cultural resurgence.

LOCAL CRAFT BEVERAGES Local breweries, wineries, and distilleries are popping up around every corner! The craft beverage movement has invaded everything from concession stands at NFL stadiums to, well, probably your refrigerator. You can find local libations throughout Cattaraugus County, including two breweries on UpstateNY.com’s I-86 Beer Trail. Whether you’re looking for beer, wine, or spirits, Cattaraugus County has the drink for you! So come on—pull up a chair, take a load off, and have a drink. Cheers! Please don’t forget—enjoy responsibly!
Four Mile Brewing Looking for good, local craft beer in Olean? Four Mile Brewing (4MB), Olean’s first brewery since Prohibition in 1920, is located in a historic brewery on the banks of the Allegheny River. The original brewery, Olean Brewing Company, opened its doors in 1907 and was state-of-theart for its time. According to information on FourMileBrewing.com it employed nearly 40 skilled men during its 13 years of operation, and used “only the best of malt, hops and rice…and the purest of water and yeast. The result [was] a beer of the highest possible quality, pure, wholesome and delicately flavored.” Sadly, in 1920, Olean Brewing Company was forced to close. Almost 100 years later, four Olean guys had a crazy idea: a high quality, low cost, local beer; a product the people of the area could be proud to call their own. With that, Gregg, Nick, Jaye, and Craig started 4MB. 4MB curently offers ten signature brews: Allegheny IPA, Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout, Polynomial Pale Ale, Black IPA, Bravo! Bravo!, Green Street IPA, Mango Wheat, Pre-Prohibition, Red Arm, and Unfurl. Since opening in 2015, 4MB has opened a restaurant with a dog-friendly patio and beer garden, and is now canning beer for retail sales. You can also find their beer on tap in many local restaurants. Check the Events page at FourMileBrewing.com for the latest on live music, themed parties, tastings, and more. 202 East Greene St., Olean | (716) 373-BEER (2337) FourMileBrewing.com

Retail bottles are sold throughout Western and Central New York, and many area restaurants offer EBC on tap. EBC now boasts three NY brewpubs: the original brewery in Ellicottville, EBC West in Fredonia, and Ellicottville Brewing on Chautauqua in Bemus Point. EBC’s newest addition is in the county seat, Little Valley, and will include a large brewery, the EBC Public Pub & Tasting Room, the Craft Brewing Science Center, an outdoor concert space, and a summer beer garden. Ellicottville Distillery, the quintessential ski town’s latest addition to alcohol producers, sits four miles outside of the village. There, surrounded by rolling hills and agricultural fields, agronomist and farmer Charlie Bares and distiller Bryan Scharf focus on making the highest quality boutique spirits available in the New York State market. Their partnership allows them to focus on the quality and integrity of their product from seed to glass. Their line of spirits, The Agronomist, embodies this connection.
Stillhouse Brewery and Distillery, located on Route 219, across from Tim Hortons, will open in 2018. A 6,000 square foot warehouse will serve as a brewhouse and distillery, and the adjacent 8,000 square foot, two story, new construction building will house a bar and restaurant.
Winemaker Dominic Spicola learned the craft from his Italian-immigrant father, Francesco. Over the years, the two made countless gallons of wine for themselves, family, and friends. Thanks to their attention to detail and love for the process, this wine was consistent and delicious.
Erie County’s Bill Bursee plans to “bring a little bit of Buffalo to Ellicottville” by featuring trademarked beers named in honor of the history and culture of iconic Buffalo neighborhoods. Here’s a sampling: Iron Island Double IPA, Black Rock Porter 1812, and Kaisertown Hefeweizen. Stillhouse is truly passionate about the quality and consistency of their beer, purchasing and installing state of the art equipment in order to supply patrons with the best product possible.
Now Dominic shares the winemaking tradition with his son-in-law, Sam Sheehy. Together, they own and operate the Winery of Ellicottville, an award-winning winery on Monroe Street that opened in 2010. The two make all of their wine on site with locally-grown grapes and berries, using both old-world and new techniques.
Focusing on soil structure and texture, nutrients, and local growing conditions, Charlie grows wheat, barley, corn, rye, and various other crops. Once harvested, crops are passed on to Bryan, who mashes, ferments, and distills. Ellicottville Distillery is currently offering Corn Whiskey, CornDistilled Vodka, and Apple-Distilled Vodka. New for 2018: Honey Spirit. This single barrel craft spirit is made from 100% local honey.
Customers are welcome to watch the process in the production room, or hang out in the tasting room for daily tastings, group tastings, or seminars. They host the annual Art in the Park in Olean, Winter Arts Festival at Holiday Valley Resort, Free Family Art Day , the Southern Tier Biennial Contemporary Art Exhibition, as well as a member show. INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS AND LOCAL ENTERTAINMENT The talent of our individual artists is much bigger than would be expected from a particularly rural area of the United States. With the beautiful inspiration of our natural surroundings, and the muselike peace and quiet unique to country living, it's no wonder that our artists are so spectacular. Notable artists include: Barbara Fox, illustrator and a Master Designer for the US mint; Carson Waterman, of the Seneca Nation, whose artwork has been displayed at the Smithsonian Institution, The Museum of the American Indian, the Ganondagan Historical Site, and prominently throughout the Seneca Allegany Casino; Jennifer Miller, of Featherdust Studios, winner of the 20152016 Federal Duck Stamp contest, with her acrylic painting of a pair of Ruddy Ducks and creator of elaborate costumes which can be seen on her website or by frequenting Pfeiffer Nature Center events. This is just a small sampling of the talent Cattaraugus County artists have to offer. Look for an upcoming 2018 Arts Trail brochure featuring individual artists in the County on EnchantedMountains.com.

Classical performances take place in the county thanks to groups such as the Southern Tier Symphony, Olean Barbershop Chorus, and Keynote Chorus. Large scale musical acts are hosted by the Seneca Allegany Resort and Casino, which in years past has hosted Hank Williams Jr., Chicago, Lonestar, Larry the Cable Guy, and Donnie and Marie Osmond. The Ellicottville Summer Music Festival and Allegany State Park's Rock the Park and Full Moon Beach Party are also a great way to enjoy outdoor concerts throughout the summer! The Hootz, a punk-country rock band originally from the Enchanted Mountains, is comprised of husband and wife duo, Luke and Ange Marino. Their pure, humorous, and harmonious music has gotten them on stage with national acts such as Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Parmalee, and Bret Michaels, plus gotten an album available on iTunes and heard on the radio. Culture
CULTURE The Enchanted Mountains Region celebrates its cultural richness and diversity. Our residents are proud of their heritage and encourage others to take part. Different events emphasize cultural education, but in fun ways: offering distinct foods, showing ethnic dances, and engaging in history. The most notable cultures are the Seneca Nation of Indians and the OldOrder Amish Community. Smaller, yet still significant strands of our complex pattern include African American, European, and Lebanese cultures.
EUROPEAN AND OTHER CULTURES Polish Americans have a long history in the City of Olean, traditionally in the north end and dating back to just before the 1900s. The Olean Pulaski Club was established in 1948. As the Polish community of Olean began to intermarry, the Pulaski Club started to loosen its ethnic restrictions and open its doors to all who support Polonia. This has allowed the Pulaski Club of Olean to survive and thrive while other Polish American clubs across the country have closed their doors. And while the club now has a diverse membership, it holds true to its Polish roots most noticeably with its Dyngus Day Celebration. Since its modern inception in 2010, this postEaster festival has become the largest Polish celebration in the region, drawing in festival goers of all ethnic backgrounds from across the Southern Tier and northern Pennsylvania to the North Union hall. One of the celebration’s biggest draws is the food, which is prepared by the club’s Ladies Auxiliary. Check out other local clubs on the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce website, OleanNY.com.

To honor and celebrate Lebanese heritage, St. Joseph's Mahrajan Festival is held in the beginning of August each year and invites the community in to dine on traditional Lebanese foods. The menu typically includes chicken and beef shish kabobs, stuffed grape leaves, fatayer pies, kibbee, tabouli, and hummus served with flatbread. You'll also find lazy pierogies, kielbasa, and hotdogs. The word "Mahrajan" loosely translated, means picnic or family gettogether. The festival not only includes great food, but you'll also find games such St. John's Block Party occurs each July and as blackjack, children's activities, a bounce was formerly known as Festa Italiana in house, live music, and belly dancing Olean. The Hindu Society of Olean and Allegany is a small community in Western New York with a mission to increase spiritual and cultural awareness through Hindu religious traditions. Every other year they host India Fest, typically held at the JCC Campus. Here they have traditional food and beverages, Bollywood music, Indian clothing and jewelry, Henna body art (Mehndi), dance and musical performances, and other entertainment. It serves to celebrate the rich ethnic and cultural diversity of India with people of all backgrounds, so come explore the culture, music, and taste of India! SENECA NATION OF INDIANS
Setting an Item Joe Curry Gala
The Seneca Nation is one of the original Five Nations of the Hodinöhšyönih, or Iroquois Confederacy. This union was created to bring peace to the Hodinöhšyönih, also known as the “People of the Longhouse.” Comprised of Chiefs from the Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, and Mohawk, it operated under a sophisticated oral tradition. This code of conduct is known as the Great Law of Peace. The union was later expanded to include the Tuscarora, becoming the Six Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy. The Hodinöhšyönih nations’ contiguous lands originally stretched across what is now New York State, similar to the shape of a longhouse. The Seneca controlled trade and traffic at the western edge of the Iroquois territory, which is why they are referred to as “Keepers of the Western Door.” The Mohawks, who lived near the Hudson River, are called “Keepers of the Eastern Door.” Like other Iroquois nations, the Seneca historically lived in longhouses, which were long, narrow bark-covered dwellings that housed several families. The Seneca are known as Onöndowa’ga:’, (pronounced: Oh-n’own-dough-wahgah) or “Great Hill People.” Traditional Seneca culture is defined by the clan system. There are eight clans among the Seneca: Bear, Beaver, Turtle, Wolf, Deer, Hawk, Heron, and Snipe. Clan membership is matrilineal – it is passed on to children through their mothers. The Seneca would hunt, fish, farm, and forage their food. Staples of the Seneca crop and diet were corn, beans, and squash, which are referred to as “Jöhehgöh,” the Three Sisters—considered to be special gifts from the Creator. Every aspect of the Seneca’s daily life came from the land or nature, including clothing, tools, cooking utensils, crafts and other materials. Exhibit at SenecaIroquois National Museum

New Cultural Center
Keeping the Legacy Alive The Seneca have lived in and cared for the forests, valleys, and shorelines of Western New York since before recorded history. The riches of the land and waters are revered among the Seneca, as it is their obligation to pass along this legacy. Today the Seneca Nation has over 8,500 enrolled members and holds title to five main territories in Western New York, specifically, the Allegany, Buffalo Creek, Cattaraugus, Niagara Falls, and Oil Spring territories. The Seneca Nation continues to support its own people and surrounding communities with a variety of cultural, educational, and economic efforts. Through the enterprises of the Nation, revenues are generated that provide necessary services and programs to all nation members, especially its youth and elders.
For over forty years the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum has showcased both permanent and temporary exhibits that introduce visitors to the culture and history of the Onöndowa’ga:’ and Hodinöhšyönih, including longhouse and clan animal exhibits. The museum is currently located at 814 Broad St., Salamanca, but the Museum is working on building a new home! The Seneca Nation Gwë Dé Cultural Center is opening on August 1, 2018. The new Cultural Center will house not only the Museum and its archives, but also a 3D printing lab, green screens, classrooms, an Indian Marketplace, gift shop, and café. Warmer months promise even more fun, with an amphitheater, working artists, a longhouse exhibit that you can stay in, and a walkable wetland Medicine Garden. This impressive new space will be visible from I-86 and opposite the Seneca Allegany Resort and Casino. In fact, over 200 rooms at the Resort will have an amazing view of the impressive design and architecture of the Cultural Center. The Museum will offer spring and fall lecture series, host live entertainment throughout the summer, offer day camps for kids on school breaks, and display over 85,000 artifacts. The café will feature traditional Native American foods like corn wheels. Tours can be arranged for small or large groups, who will enjoy access to WiFi, ample parking, and restroom access.
Seneca culture and values remain strong and intact. The vibrancy of their rich heritage is evident in the cultural events, dance, music, arts, crafts, and foods that visitors are invited to experience. Highlights include the Main Street Mural overlooking the Allegheny River, Visit them online at SenecaMuseum.org. HAUNTED HISTORY TRAIL
The Haunted Hinsdale House ©Amityphotos.com
Stories of ghosts and the research teams who investigate them are becoming increasingly popular. They seek to explain the unknown and answer the burning question "What happens after we die?" Ghost-hunting groups around the country are swelling with members--their popularity fueled by television shows, the Internet, and the increasing availability of high-tech equipment. The Haunted History Trail of New York State is a collection of over 65 creepy, spooky, and downright haunted locations, spanning over 400 miles across the state. This trail invites the paranormalcurious to participate in guided ghost tours and special events. Furthermore, serious investigative teams can explore and survey ghost-hunting locations. Cattaraugus County has two locations that fit the spooky bill and are featured on the NYS Haunted History Trail: The Haunted Hinsdale House and The Wildwood Sanitarium.
The Haunted Hinsdale House, perhaps the most famous haunted house in New York State, has all the elements of a good ghost story: a mysterious history, strange sightings, unexplainable events, and even a couple of exorcisms. The house on McMahon Road first gained notoriety when the book, "Echoes of a Haunting" was published in September 2000 by Clara Miller. Clara and her husband, Phil Dandy lived in the house along with their children in the early 1970s and were visited by many spirits during their time there. The family was so haunted that they called in Father Alphonsus from St. Bonaventure University to perform an exorcism on the house. This seemed to work for a short while, but as time went by the Dandy family lost the battle and left the property. In 2006, The Discovery Channel filmed an episode of "A Haunting" based on the events at the house. Forward to 2016 -- current owner of the house Daniel Klaes uses the house as a research facility for paranormal investigators. The spirits are still there and he has uncovered even more of the property's history. Klaes even wrote a book, "Hinsdale House: An American Haunting" released in 2016. The house once again made it to national television and was featured on Destination America's "Paranormal Lockdown" in April 2016, and then again in October of 2016 on TLC's Halloween special, "Paranormal Lockdown."
The Wildwood Sanitarium was officially opened in 1906 as a Sanitarium and Bath House. It was a holistic healing center and the only one of its kind in NYS when it opened. Dr. Henderson and Dr. Perry specialized in Osteopathy Therapy and also welcomed patients seeking a cure for alcoholism, drug addiction, and any condition except infectious and contagious diseases. Each patient received individual attention and took advantage of the bath house in the basement. It became a Tuberculosis Clinic in 1923, and then it was owned by several different families and later used as apartments. Over the years it has been known to have paranormal activity including shadow figures, orbs, Electronic Voice Phenomenon and people have reported being touched or pushed. 71 Prospect Ave., Salamanca (716) 801-5270 FB.com/TheWildwoodRestorationProject

WATER PADDLE TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT
Kayaking at Quaker Lake
KAYAKING Kayaking allows you to explore and admire the beautiful scenery in the Enchanted Mountains in a completely new way. There's nothing quite like being on the water. Exploring the coastlines of our lakes or rivers provides an opportunity to view animals, plants and varying landscapes. Our lakes are big enough for a full day of enjoyment, but not so big that you’ll lose sight of the coast line view.
What's New - Launches Floating docks have been installed in the Town of Allegany near the First Street Bridge at Allegany River Park and the Town of Portville (called the Linn Launch or Steam Valley Road Launch). There is also a public boat launch in Olean at West Riverside Dr., just off S. Union St. These are handicapped accessible launches.
Allegheny River One of our best locations is the Allegheny River. With new launches (some handicap accessible) being added and projects popping up along the shoreline, it truly is a new way to enjoy the Enchanted Mountains. The Allegheny River enters New York State near Portville, then continues through Allegany State Park where it eventually joins the Allegheny Reservoir. Kayakers can paddle on over 50 miles of water, devoid of dams, when the water is at sufficient heights. Many times kayakers will catch a glimpse of bald eagles, which are starting to make a strong comeback due to multiple conservation efforts.

"Catt" Creek Cattaraugus Creek is another great place to enjoy a scenic trip down a river. However, it must be approached with caution as sections are very challenging. This includes sections that can be secluded or contain drops and dangerous recirculating currents. Go with an expert or someone who is familiar with the layout, like the Zoar Valley Paddling Club. Look for them on Facebook. Other rivers that are frequently used by kayakers include Conewango Creek, Great Valley Creek, Ischua Creek, Oil Creek, and Olean Creek. Beginners should try Quaker Lake and Red House Lake in Allegany State Park. Detailed information on the conditions or obstacles you may meet on those creeks can be found at EMFun.us/Paddle.

FISHING You can’t mention water without thinking about fishing. Whether you're a fair weather fisherman or an avid angler, we have a great fishing spot waiting for you. One of our most popular spots is Cattaraugus Creek, which borders our county on the north, and is continually listed as one of the top Steelhead Fishing Sites. Other creeks with great trout fishing include Clear Creek, Ischua Creek, and Mansfield Creek. Our lakes, although man-made and shallower than neighboring lakes, still provide excellent habitat for many sports fish, including tiger musky in Lime Lake and walleye along the reservoir. Throw a line in at New Albion, Case, Harwood, Quaker or Red House Lakes for even more fishing fun!

Bike and Bean
Tucked away in the hills of the Enchanted Mountains is the funloving and picturesque village of Ellicottville. People come from miles around to play on the slopes, enjoy first-class lodging, and wander the streets--shopping, eating, exploring, and enjoying the small town hospitality. Not only is this the home of our two ski resorts (Holiday Valley and Holimont), it also has a downtown area that houses a variety of restaurants, eclectic shops and active night life. Often called the “Aspen of the East,” and described as Rockwellesque, you can create memories here that will last a lifetime. Stop to see Rachel at the Purple Doorknob, a shop dedicated to socks! With over 1,000 different sock designs, you won’t leave empty-handed. See what locally-grown ingredients Dennis is using at Bike and Bean. (Yes, a burrito shop that sells and services bikes!) Whenever possible, burritos are made using seasonal vegetables from Canticle Farm, grass-fed beef from Randolph, and Antibiotic Free Chicken from Fredericksburg, PA. Slow down at the Ellicottville Country Store & Antiques, just outside of the Village. Like country stores of days gone by, they feature gifts, bulk foods, old fashioned penny candy and more. Upstairs houses the Antique Galley, which features multiple dealer booths. There's also an adjoining diner which serves hot breakfast and lunch.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding at Spruce Lake with Adventure Bound onthefly Holiday Valley
HOLIDAY VALLEY IN THE SUMMER When mentioning Holiday Valley Resort, images of a winter wonderland, packing up the gear for skiing, or sitting in the lodge by the fireplace might come to mind. More recently though, Holiday Valley Resort has become known for its amazing “off-season activities, enjoyed on the slopes when they are in shades of color other than white! Look for plenty of exciting events throughout the year as well, with a Mudslide in June, a Summer Music Festival on the 4th of July weekend, a Fall Festival over Columbus Day Weekend, and a Beer and Wine Festival in November. Located near the Tannenbaum Lodge at the west end of Holiday Valley, Sky High Aerial Adventure Park offers an Aerial Park, a Climbing Forest, and a Mountain Coaster. From late summer through early autumn (including during the Fall Fest) they offer chairlift rides so you can view the beautiful trees that line the slopes.
Sky High Aerial Adventure Park
The Aerial Adventure Park is a playground in the trees that features a series of platforms and bridges. Use strategy and balance to cross bridges, climb ladders, and soar on zip lines to get to the next platform, all while safely harnessed in and with trained staff nearby to help. There are 13 courses total, which vary in difficulty. The Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster is an effortless adrenaline rush where "cars" pull riders up the track only to zigzag down 2,940 hair-raising feet while maneuvering 15 curves, 12 waves, a jump and a corkscrew spiral. Best of all you control the speed on the way down! The Climbing Forest is a 3-D version of a climbing wall and is the only one of its kind in New York State. Ten trees outfitted with color coded climbing holds, with difficulty ranging from very easy to very challenging. Climb up and rappel down! There's a special kids' area where the youngest climbers can reach an elevation of about 6 feet up and then climb back down.
The Climbing Forest
These adventures are generally open May through October, but because they're weather dependent, we encourage you to call first. (716) 699-HIGH or view more information online at HolidayValley.com/Summer.

Limestone's ATV Dice Run
ATV & MOTORSPORTS If you have an ATV or UTV, then pack up and head out for a day of fun on over 10 miles of well-maintained and well-marked trails at The Woods at Bear Creek’s Bear Run ATV Park. Built in 2015 over 750 acres, these trails are designed for riders of all skill levels. All machines must be registered and insured. However, because UTVs cannot be registered in New York State, only insurance is required. Anyone riding here is required to sign a waiver and abide by the Rules and Code of Conduct. Bear Creek hosts at least one ATV Dice Run a year, including bands, food, and camping. In fact, you can camp at Bear Creek any time of the year—try a Luxurious Glamping Cabin, a rustic Bear's Den Cabin, or pitch a tent on one of the Tent Platform Sites. Look for special deals, maps, the Code of Conduct and a liability waiver form on their website, TheWoodsAtBearCreek.com.

CYCLING Riding a bike can take you back to the simple pleasures of life and offer a great workout. Whether you prefer paved trails and roads or like to venture out to rocky trails or mountain bike trails; even if you want to find a group bike night, we have what you're looking for.
Mountain Biking From easy, flowing routes to steep singletrack, there are many miles of premier mountain biking trails right here in Cattaraugus County! Many of these trails were built and are maintained by Western New York Mountain Bike Association volunteers. Rock City and McCarty Hill State Forests, located behind Holiday Valley and Holimont, offer over 40 miles of runs, including the "Ellicottville Loop." It's all pedal power as there is no lift service at the ski resorts. These trails are also free to use. Mountain bike rentals are available at the Inn at Holiday Valley. Both resorts offer mountain bike races during the very popular Ellicottville Fall Festival. Golden Hill State Forest adds to the scene with another 7+ miles of well-maintained and marked singletrack. All of these trails have been mapped out and are available to view on the WNYMBA website (WNYMBA.org) or by purchasing a paper map at the Bike and Bean in Ellicottville. Ride Guide MOTOR TOUR TRAILS
MOTORCYCLING Motorcycling gives you a sense of freedom that is difficult to duplicate with any other vehicle. You find that riding a motorcycle doesn't transport you to a destination–it is the destination. Discover what life is really about when you travel our suggested routes throughout the county, as mapped out in our Ride Guide brochure. Hit the Blue Highway Ride for rolling scenic two lane highways across the northern edge of our county. The Heritage Ride takes you from Zoar Valley (be sure to stop by Gowanda Harley Davidson) down to the Seneca Nation of Indians, for a taste of the natural, historical and cultural heritage of our region. Explore mountain scenery and cool down on the Town & Country Ride. There is plenty more to do and see with three more road trip ideas outlined in the brochure. The rumble of motorcycles can also be heard at our large events which include Gowanda's Hollywood Happening in early June and Allegany's Rally in the Valley in mid-August. Look for them annually on EnchantedMountains.com/Events.

Windswept shores, sandy beaches and dramatic cliffs define Chautauqua County’s northern Lake Erie border. Just a few miles inland at 1308 feet above sea level, Chautauqua Lake is said to be one of the highest navigable bodies of water in North America. Several smaller lakes surround Chautauqua, including Findley Lake to the southwest, which was formed from spring fed ponds that drain into the West Branch of French Creek, and Bear and Cassadaga Lakes to the north. Explore the water on vessels of all sizes from canoes, kayaks, and fishing boats to pontoons, power boats, and narrated cruises aboard commercial yachts.
Allegany County is nestled in the foothills of Allegheny Mountains and offers a wide variety of activities appealing to all visitors. Allegany County has a relaxed, unhurried way of life with a beautiful, unspoiled landscape. There’s something fun for all seasons in Allegany County: a summer full of fairs and festivals; 55 miles of river, 6 lakes and ponds for fishing and almost 50,000 acres of state and county forests to hunt. Plus, you can snowmobile for almost 400 miles across farm land, state land, and rolling hills, stopping only when you need a good meal. Come Discover Allegany County!

Letchworth State Park, also called the "Grand Canyon of the East," is simply magnificent. This park is one of the most awe-inspiring areas in the Eastern United States. The Genesee River roars through the gorge and over three major waterfalls. The sheer cliffs that border these waterfalls are as high as 600 feet in some places and surrounded by lush forests. Hikers can choose from 66 miles of hiking trails. Trails are also available for horseback riding, biking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. Letchworth offers an interesting history, performing arts programs, guided walks, tours, a summer lecture series, whitewater rafting, kayaking, a natural swimming pool, and hot air ballooning. Winter activities include snow tubing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. The historic, completely restored Glen Iris Inn offers overnight accommodations and is open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 1 Letchworth State Park Rd., Castile, NY 14427 | (585) 493-3600 | NYSParks.com/parks/79 Established in 1923, Allegheny National Forest (ANF) is Pennsylvania’s only National Forest. Located on the eastern edge of the Appalachians, and directly below Cattaraugus County and Chautauqua County, the ANF is composed of plateau tops with elevations up to approximately 2,300 feet and valleys down to approximately 1,000 feet above sea level. The forest is approximately 517,000 acres and includes land in Elk, Forest, McKean, and Warren. The motto "Land of Many Uses" captures the National Forest’s goal of a healthy, vigorous forest that provides wood products, watershed protection, a variety of wildlife habitats, and recreational opportunities. The ANF offers a wide variety of recreational activities including: boating, camping, hunting, fishing, ATV riding, and snowmobiling. These activities draw in about 4 million recreation visitors annually. Bradford Ranger Station 29 Forest Service Dr., Bradford, PA 16701 | (814) 362-4613 www.fs.usda.gov/Main/Allegheny/Home
