From the Director’s Desk… Hello Encinitas Residents,

Visual, performance and cultural arts are among the many treasured elements that make the City of Encinitas a great place to live, work and play. The City is committed to providing experiences to the public through public art, performances, events, and partnerships. The City of Encinitas accepted applications from Encinitas high school students, college students and adult artists to participate in a city-funded public art project to create 53 mosaic panels for permanent installation at the redesigned Santa Fe Drive undercrossing as part of the Caltrans North Coast Corridor Program. The undercrossing is now complete and the mosaic panels, 3’ x 5’ in size, have been installed on the north and south walls of the new bike and pedestrian lanes. The mosaic panels comprise a new outdoor art exhibit and reflect the culture of the five communities of Encinitas. With the artistic theme “Encinitas Up Close,” the artworks depict local flora and fauna, including people, abstract or representational in form and are dynamic and distinguishable from a distance. For more information on this project and other exciting projects, visit: www. encinitasca.gov/publicart. Public art is all around Encinitas. Enjoy!
