Between Us
For thirty years, the Alliance has taken pride in presenting our annual production of A Christmas Carol. Knowing that families and friends from all over metro Atlanta come to our theater year after year to share this moving story of love and redemption gives our work purpose — so much purpose that even a pandemic was not going to stop us this year.
So we got to work. The brainstorming was endless, the zoom meetings countless, the questions confounding, and the obstacles huge, but here we are — hundreds of us gathered again, reminding us that we are, finally, better together than apart.
I have personally loved this journey to the Summerhill parking lot next to the Georgia State University Stadium. While searching for the perfect spot for this production, I met so many wonderful people who, even though we did not end up in their lot, were thrilled that A Christmas Carol would still happen in spite of a weary world. Our partner and host, Carter, has been as generous as the spirit of the holiday season itself and the neighbors and proprietors of Summerhill are, as my granddaddy would say, the salt of the earth.
Take this opportunity to look at the people in the cars around you. Be reminded that we are all here for the same reason — to find joy and safety for ourselves and the ones we love. Then, crank up that radio and let this amazing cast and crew transcend those ideals of shared values — joy and safety — beyond this parking lot to your own communities.
Thank you so much for being here. You have made our journey complete.
Happy Holidays!
