Ghiath Refai
Managing Director at Malaz Capital Mr. Refai has over 16 years of experience across private equity and investment banking. Prior to Malaz Capital, Ghiath was a founding member of Morgan Stanley Saudi Arabia’s Investment Banking team. Mr. Refai holds a MBA from the Cass Business School, London and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the American University in Beirut. Mr. Refai is a Charted Financial Analyst (CFA).

focus areas include joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and valuations. Islam began his career with KPMG in the UK prior to working for a number of investment banks for over 10 years in London [Salomon Smith Barney (now Citigroup), Hawkpoint and Kessler]. Islam rejoined KPMG at Riyadh in January 2009.

Wassim Basrawi Managing Director of Saudi Aramco Entrepreneurship Center “WAED” Wassim Basrawi is currently the Managing Director of Saudi Aramco Entrepreneurship WAED Ventures for over 2 years. Before his stint with WAED, Wassim was the Head of the Joint Venture Portfolio where he oversaw Saudi Aramco’s investments in 8 companies with over $25 billion dollars’ worth of capital projects. Wassim began with Saudi Aramco in August 1995 on the College Degree program. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder in May 1999. Organization as a drilling engineer. He then spent a couple of years as a plant engineer with Qurrayah Sea Water Injection Plant. After completing his professional development program in 2002 he spent nearly two years as a corrosion engineer with Consulting in early 2004 and has had several work assignments which included a 15 month assignment at Petrolube in Jeddah, JV manager of Petrolube and Samref, and champion of company’s corporate governance best practices initiative. He then returned to the Operations for two years from 2009-2011 where he held the position as operations
In addition to his diverse Saudi Aramco experience, Wassim is an entrepreneur and has established a restaurant business in 2009. It has grown to several locations with over 90 full time employees. He is keen to continue pursuing challenging and novel tasks that require the entrepreneurial spirit.
