energy efficiency campus
Energy efficiency: a new cultural challenge
The Energy Efficiency Campus: a new cultural challenge The important economic, industrial, demographic and environmental challenges facing society, require substantial efforts in the next decades to minimize the use of raw materials and natural resources, while the need for consumer goods and productivity will keep growing. The efficient use of energy is certainly among the first priorities in that respect. EDF Fenice and its partners believe that a successful achievement in this, from many aspects complex area, would only be possible with the engagement in a cultural turnabout involving all concerned counterparties. We have therefore decided to create the Energy Efficiency Campus as an open hub and educational tool facilitating the relation between entrepreneurs, industrial energy managers, engineers, public and financial institutions and universities, engaged on common objective and strategies about energy saving and sustainable development. In this “exchange space” users, specialists and institutions can meet and share views on:
▪ Energy costs and energy management ▪ Regulation ▪ Energy efficiency: possible models, levers and barriers ▪ Critical technical issues and their resolution ▪ Innovation and capitalization of experiences ▪ Education
TRAINING
The Campus offers training on energy efficiency applied to industry. The training courses intend to answer the following specific needs:
▪ Identify efficiency improvement potential ▪ Organize an energy efficiency project ▪ Select the best existing technical solutions ▪ Build an energy strategy ▪ Organize the operation and maintenance of energy facilities ▪ Optimize hedge risks on energy purchasing ▪ Apprehend and manage regulatory and certification obligations and benefits ▪ Improve its own “green” image

▪ ▪ ▪ ▪
legislation and control certification financing and incentives education
Public managers must be able to work transversally, in the political-administrative, technical and scientific field, as they are asked to manage complexes matters related to the operation and management of energy facilities.
TRAINING FOR INSTITUTIONS
Institutions, in their functions of legislation, certification, control and financing, operate with obligations of transparency and consistency with legislative directions. In subjects pertaining to industrial energy efficiency – a priority today – it is necessary for them to find the correct balance between the objectives of environmental sustainability and the rules that guarantee the development. The above activities require simultaneously a broad knowledge of legislation, finance, technique and management. In order to take measures on the subject of energy efficiency, institutions and their managers may require specific training support to focus on
▪ successful business cases ▪ prospective and market scenarios ▪ risk indicators The Campus supports institutions in understanding the scenarios they have to turn to, in order to evaluate beforehand impacts and developments of the measures to be taken.
