ithout the innovations of Parker Boiler Company, people visiting the Terminator 2 3-D attraction at Universal Studios in Hollywood would not have the same chilling experience as they do now. Parker started earning its cutting-edge reputation in 1919 when company founder, Sid E. Parker, designed the first Parker Boiler. Since then, the company has grown to become the largest and most successful manufacturer of package steam boilers in its category in the West, all designed and engineered to provide value as well as dependability. Parker’s products are used by many different industries, from aeronautical and space to clothing manufacturing; from pharmaceutical to textiles. Products include a full range of steam boilers, hot water boilers, thermal liquid heaters,

indirect waters heaters, low NOx burners, water softeners, feedwater return systems, feedwater deaerators, blowoff tanks, storage tanks and boiler room accessories. The company grew substantially under the leadership of Parker’s nephew, Sid E. Danenhauer, who joined his uncle as a partner in 1942. His pioneering ideas and leadership created a multi-million dollar corporation. During his tenure, he helped develop the original Water Tube Steam Boiler as well as the famous Parker H Drum Boiler, which measures at 99.9 percent dry saturated steam. Sid Danenhauer also contributed to the development of the company’s new Low NOx Boilers, which help lower emmisons that can deplete the ozone. The water tube boiler’s massive horizontal drum allows for a very generous steam release area.

The larger surface space produces dryer and cleaner steam. Today, the company is headed by the third generation with Sid D. Danenhauer serving as president and general manager. Members of the family’s second, third and fourth generation have worked at the company, even during high school, counting physical inventory at year end, and helping with odd jobs in the summer. When Parker first opened, then known as the Sid E. Parker Boiler Company, the small plant was located in downtown Los Angeles. Today, Parker produces its products from a large, modern 100,000 square-foot manufacturing facility on approximately five acres of land, still in the Los Angeles area. New computerized and micro-processor controlled manufacturing machines at the facility were developed by
company engineers. Machines such as a computer controlled plasma cutter assure precision fabrication as well as higher quality standards, the elimination of waste caused by human error and the reduction of maufacturing costs. Parker makes over 300 products which are used in a variety of applications in facilities such as food processing plants, restaurants and hospitals. The company exports to Canada, Mexico, South America and remote islands like the Phillipines. Providing the best product for the application is top priority at Parker. To create the effects in “It’s Tough to be a Bug” 3-D show at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, for instance, Parker used at 25 HP, 200 PSI Steam Boiler System with a Wet Steam Accumulator. At Disney’s California Adventure theme park in Anaheim, Calif., the company installed a similar system

It was the first manufacturer in the United States to develop the technologly that utilizes an air fuel ratio system that is linkageless and very repeatable. Changing the frequency on the blower drive saves fuel by burning less. It also lessens the electrical demand on the blower. When it comes to proficiency, Parker’s LR and new Water Wall Boilers achieve efficiencies to the edge of condensing. Parker’s continued growth stems in part from its reputation for superior quality, safety and reliability, as well as the low cost of operation and easy maintenance associated with its products. The heavy steel, all welded flexible construction permits free expansion and contraction with changes in temperature. Thermal shocks are readily absorbed without hazard or danger to the boiler.
