ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

Garth Federico ENGAGEMENT SHOOT PHOTOGRAPHED BY JESSICA PHOTOGRAPHY WWW.JESSICAPHOTOGRAPHY.CO.NZ

ONE

night in August 2006, Garth Hemmingsen from Auckland And Federico Vignola from Argentina but living in Auckland, were both crossing the road heading to an event and caught each other’s eye. Fortunately the boys were both heading to the same venue, and after smiling at each other across the room, Fede built up the courage so say hi...the rest is history. After the event was over, they saw each other every day. “We ended up living together within a month due to a change of flat mates. It just felt right and as we got on so well together, with similar upbringings and family values it was the perfect fit” said Garth. A few months later the boys went on their first overseas trip together to Bail. “One night as we were heading back to our hotel room after a romantic dinner at this great little restaurant right on the beach, Garth took me out to this pagoda on a small jetty, and right there under the stars he got down on one knee and proposed” said Federico. “It was really sweet and I instantly said yes”. It took some time after getting engaged for Garth and Federico to settle on a wedding date. “With Federico’s parents heading to NZ in October, my friends heading out from the UK and the change in the gay marriage laws, it seemed to make sense for us to tie the knot” said Garth. “We have booked into a great venue on Waiheke and are really looking forward to the day.”

Belinda Drew

This month we have the goregeous wedding of Belinda and Drew as shot by Jessica Higueras. Enjoy!

In Belinda’s words...

HOW WE MET

Drew and I met inboard a flight I was working on from Perth to Singapore in February 2010. At the last minute Drews seat was changed and he ended up sitting in front of me in front of my jumpseat. We got talking and got on well. We were both shy and didn’t really know how to exchange details so we didn’t! Drew got off and I went and found his name on the passenger list, managed to get in touch with his sister on Facebook she passed on my email address and the rest is history :)

THE PROPOSAL

Drew and I got engaged in May 2011 in a gorgeous medieval wine village called St Emilion in Bordeaux, France. It was a very low key very romantic moment in a relaxing little cafe overlooking the village over a glass of St Emilion wine (Drews favourite) and the origin of the very first bottle of wine we shared together. There was no getting down on one knee it was just over the table very sweet.....the people at the table next to us had no idea what had just happened! It was just between us and we went about our day after that!

THE BEST PART

Where do I start! From the AMAZING venue, weather, Jazz band, giant Jenga and lawn games, the food and wine, the service, the party!....the mojitos....did i mention the food?!Apart from this!...the fantastic friends and family we had with us on the day. We have many international friends...the ones that could make it (and many travelled to New Zealand from as far away as the UK, Brazil, America and Australia) it really meant a lot to us. We had such a fantastic DJ in

engaged

Grant Marshall and with the amazing energy of our guests we had the best party we could have ever dreamed of! Our guests are still talking about it which makes it all the more worth it. Also to be able to have my mum with me on the day was a miracle.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Try to think about yourself... Don’t worry about others it is your day. Try to keep things simple when getting ready on the day. Allocate an abundance of time when getting ready! You don’t want to be stressed out because you are running late and overlook the small things - you can never get this day back so be sure time is on your side. Try not to have too much planned the week before as it will definately be a busy week! Purchase items from America - I did this alot over the internet and seriously saved a fortune.

VENUE

The Kelleher Estate was perfect for our vision. It allowed us to have an outdoor cocktail wedding party with Jazz Band by day DJ by night with heaps of mixing and mingling laughing and dancing. Watever we wanted Becs could do.....the only limit was our imagination. We loved that we didnt need to leave at any time during our day ...The girls got ready in the pamper room upstairs in the Estate which was so much fun...you could hear the buzz of our guests downstairs as they arrived. The boys arrived early and settled their nerves in the cigar room downstairs. The Grand Lawn was the setting for our ceremony. It was a onestop shop also for our wedding photos....the pristine garden made for a multitude of perfect locations to shoot in front of as well as inside the house....we were seriously spoilt for choice!

THE GOWN: Lazaro: Antique silk faced satin formal bridal ball

gown, draped sweetheart bodice with wide jeweled band at natural waist, box pleated skirt, chapel train. I saw it on Say Yes To The Dress in the states and just had to try it on...and loved it. I had 18cm added to the train.

53

BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES: Strapless and one shoulder floor length

royal blue Mori Lee chiffon dresses

GROOMS SUIT: Charcoal Hugo Boss GROOMSMEN’S SUITS: Light grey Hugo Boss HAIR: The amazingly efficient and talented Cony Bennett CAKE: Four tier Red Velvet, Caramel Mudcake and White

Chocolate Genache (top tier)...The best cake ever....seriously delicious. Kylie from Cake Haven

FLOWERS: Coral roses from Best Blooms in lieu of peonies DECORATION: The amazing Kelleher Estate really didn’t

need a thing! It is so gorgeous in its own right there is no need to decorate. They have fairy lights, a garden chandelier, pre installed lighting on the verandah...it really is good to go and has a timeless Mediterranean feel.

INVITATIONS: Minted.com

We wanted something different but at the same time a booklet type format to carry all one information we wanted to give to our guests. Minted.com is a website that lists multiple designs from heaps of designers...you just pick your design, put your info into the template, special requirements such as palate etc and the designer then puts it all together for you! Easy and very affordable.

HONEYMOON: A week in the Maldives .... our all time dream

honeymoon .....Something that arose in the conversation the day we met on the plane :)
