ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY REAL WEDDING
Sweet Surprise
JENNAH AND STEVEN
Steven and Jennah first met in high school chemistry class. However, they were in different friend groups and didn’t really know each other at the time. In college, Steven showed interest, but it wasn’t until after college that they officially began dating.
For his proposal, Steven organized a private, behind-the-scenes tour at Mesker Park Zoo to see the otters, one of Jennah’s favorite animals. Jennah’s boss was even in on it and helped plan her day off as a delayed birthday present. Steven popped the question to Jennah right in front of the otters!
They planned to get married on March 28th with a beautiful brunch reception — mimosas, waffles, made-to-order omelets and more. Every detail was nailed down. Then COVID happened. Limitations became strict, changing daily, across the country. On Sunday night, March 15th, Jennah looked at Steven and said “There's too much uncertainty, let's get just married Tuesday.” After all, what matters the most at the end of the day, is the marriage, love and commitment, not the ceremony details or reception. Jennah took off work Monday to re-plan the ceremony and coordinate all the vendors. They were able to pull together a romantic and intimate Tuesday ceremony with a small group of family and friends. The two loved the idea that they were two redheads, getting married on St. Patrick’s Day, with the wedding color of green! While there was no reception, no cake, and no perfectly arranged table decor, the two did make sure to do their special first dance, before heading out to take sunset photos. The pandemic continued to shake things up, causing a cancelled honeymoon but they were finally able to get away in July for a couple days to celebrate as Mr. & Mrs.
