The Pnuematic-Tired Safety
In 1817 Baron von Drais invented a walking machine that would help him get around the royal gardens faster. The bike was later named a hobby horse. Next, pedals were introduced that were built on the front wheel. This bike, known as the “bone shaker was made out of wood making it very uncomfortable. In 1870, the metal bike was built. Although the pedals were still attatched to the front wheel, the wheel was significantly bigger. These bikes were considered very popular and stylish. Metal soon became strong enough to make chains. Bicycles made transportation easier which made them a popular item to own.
