INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT OFTHE VALVE CLEARANCE
1. SettheNo.1 pistontotop deadcenteron compressionstroke.
2. With the No.1 piston positioned at top dead center on compression stroke, adjust the No.1 valve clearance 1,1sing a thickness gauge. Thethickness gauge should move witha veryslight pull.
Valve Clearance (When cold);
Hino 13.3L Intake valve: 0.40 mm (0.0157 in)
Hino 13.3L Exhaust valve: 0.40 mm (0.0157 in)
3. Adjustthe other valves. Turn the crankshaft counter-clockwise 120° viewed from flywheel side. Adjust the valve clearance for each cylinder inthe firing order.
Firing order: 1-4-2-6-3-5
NOTE: Always loosen the lock nut and raise the adjusting screws fully to the top. If the adjusting screws are too low, the piston and valves may strike each other during valve clearance adjustment.
