Is a carbon-free economy within 50 years possible? This is the question raised by Rob Miller, an Engineering professor at the University of Cambridge. According to the professor, this timescale can be cut in half, and the key lies in a radical change in the way we develop and scale up technology. However, for this to happen, academics, industrialists and manufacturers will have to reach agreements and work together.

Electronic microscopes have played an important role in many scientific advances since they were first used in 1938. A team of engineers at Johns Hopkins University is engaged in a study to establish a model for data-driven open microscope architecture as a tool to advance towards the challenges of the future, such as energy storage, quantum information and materials design. They are working with an approach that combines artificial intelligence and automated learning at each stage in the microscopy workflow.

2- SENSORY ENGINEERING

Devices to detect movement

Engineers at University of Berkeley have created a new device that combines biosensors with artificial intelligence software to help identify which hand gesture is being made from the patterns of electrical signals in the forearm. This device can have great importance in improving the control of prothesis, offering much better interaction with electronic devices.

1. ENGINYERIA VERDA
