YCSWA Sponsors Puppet Shows To promote recycling and celebrate America Recycles Day on Friday, Nov. 15, the York County Solid Waste Authority (YCSWA) is sponsoring puppet show assembly programs in nine York County schools. The recycling-themed program, titled “Magic Pots and Recycled Bottles,” was created by puppeteer Kathleen Jacobs. Students will see ordinary household items “recycled” into characters who promote care of the environment through reduction of waste, as well as reuse and recycling of materials. Jacobs has also developed the YCSWA mascot, Buster the Combustor Dragon, into a character who tells students of the waste-to-energy technology used at the York County Resource Recovery Center (RRC). She will present the assembly programs from Wednesday, Nov. 6, through Friday, Nov. 15. Performances will run approximately 45 minutes and feature audience participation. Schools hosting performances are Delta-Peach Bottom Elementary, Holy Trinity Catholic, Locust Grove Elementary, Newberry Elementary, Pleasant View Elementary, Southern Elementary, Valley View Elementary, Wallace Elementary and Yorkshire Elementary.
