Eastern York Middle School PTSO Gears Up For Winterfest By Chelsea Peifer

The Eastern York Middle School (EYMS) Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) will host Winterfest, an annual arts and craft show that raises funds to support student activities, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at EYMS, 746 Cool Creek Road, Wrightsville. Admission is free. Parking is available in the middle and high school lots, and a free shuttle service will be available to transport attendees from the high school lot to the middle school and back. Winterfest chair Valerie Hacker said that volunteers will once again transform the inside of the school into a holiday shopping wonderland, complete with a book fair, giveaways, and more than 100 vendors selling a variety of handmade crafts and products to help people find gifts for everyone on

their holiday shopping list. A Scholastic book fair will offer titles for adults and for children and youths in preschool through middle school. Santa Claus will visit the school from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children’s activities will include face painting, craft making, and cookie decorating. People of all ages may also take photographs at a selfie photo booth. Food options will include chicken corn soup, hot dogs and sauerkraut, macaroni and cheese, pulled pork sandwiches, subs from Sue’s Food Market in Wrightsville, and more. An assortment of baked goods will also be available to buy, including pies and baked goods made by students in the EYMS life skills class at EYMS with help from teachers. Winterfest is a collaboration between parents, faculty, and students, with staff

members making and selling products and students helping with setup and teardown, as well as delivering food orders to the standholders set up throughout the building. Hacker also recruits volunteers from the Eastern York High School National Honor Society. Each of the EYMS student sections creates a themed basket to be given away in a drawing at Winterfest. Opportunities to win the themed baskets and other giveaways will be available in the school’s front lobby from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Proceeds from the drawings, vendor space rentals, and food sales at Winterfest all benefit the EYMS PTSO and its efforts to fund student assemblies, field trips, special events, and more. Anyone with questions regarding Winterfest may email MSPTSO@easternyork.net.

Church Plans Calendar Sale Fundraiser Calendars may be purchased on Sundays between 9 and 10:30 a.m. in the Good Shepherd Room, during the week in the church office, from any church member, or by sending in the order form found at https://stpaulsyork.org/. Calendars will also be on sale at the church’s Christmas cookie walk, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, from noon to 2:30 p.m. The proceeds from calendar sales will benefit the church’s newly renovated preschool, which now has bright, modern

classrooms; proper HVAC; and restrooms. The space was designed for early childhood education in the 21st century. Proceeds will also support St. Paul’s Food Pantry, which is now fully handicappedaccessible and has improved refrigeration and freezer space and a sink to wash fresh produce. Original artwork will be auctioned off on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020. For more information, readers may call 717-8438155 or visit www.stpaulsyork.org.
