I think it’s amazing that we can tell our advertisers we reach well over 90 percent of the households in our market area, while at the same time smaller businesses can select the individual publications and even ZIP codes that will do the best job reaching their current and potential customers. I look forward to working with our knowledgeable and caring staff in forming partnerships and creating relevant advertising solutions for area businesses, including our rapidly growing website, TownLively.com.” Noel’s wife, Linda, is a native of Lancaster County. The Noels have four children and six grandchildren. Noel will succeed John Hemperly, who is assuming other executive roles within the company.

Give Local York, the 24-hour Give Day for York County, will return on Friday, May 3. Last year’s Give Local York event raised $1.478 million for 211 nonprofit organizations in just 24 hours. This year, 320 organizations whose work benefits York County residents have registered to participate in Give Local York. On May 3, from midnight to 11:59 p.m., people may visit www.givelocalyork.org from any computer, smartphone, or device to donate to any of the hundreds of local organizations participating. The goal for this year’s giving event is $3 million. Dollars raised that day will be stretched by a pool of $335,000, funded by UPMC Pinnacle, the York County Community Foundation, the Powder Mill Foundation, the Arthur J. and Lee R. Glatfelter Foundation, United Way of York County, Cultural Alliance of York County, J. William Warehime Foundation, and PNC Bank. The stretch pool serves as a percentage match for participating organizations. Additionally, organizations have the opportunity to win more than $22,000 in prizes on Give Day. On May 3, York County will be transformed into a community-wide celebration of generosity. Give Local York activities

Preschool Invites Families Theatre Arts For Everyone (TAFE) To Visit Did this organization participate in the inaugural Give Local York last year? TAFE participated last year and had a vibrant, whirlwind experience as a participant in the inaugural event. Our theater group performed at Martin Library and Cherry Lane and throughout the streets of York. The kids, in particular, were energized and engaged, and we enjoyed the fruits of our efforts. Address: 1604 Second Ave., York, PA 17403 Phone: 717-884-8233 Email: info@tafepa.org Website: www.tafepa.org Social Media: www.twitter.com/tafepa, www.facebook.com/TafePenn, and “tafepennsylvania” on Instagram
Shama Mir, executive director, who has been with the organization since its creation two-and-a-half years ago, answered the following questions: What is the mission of TAFE? How does the organization work to achieve its goals? TAFE’s mission is to give everyone the opportunity to be involved in, educated about, and entertained by the art of live theater. As an educational theater arts organization, we do outreach programming with seniors and individuals with special needs, as well as create four productions per year that feature community members from all walks of life, ages 7 to 97.
What are the organization’s goals for 2019? During 2019, TAFE has many exciting programs, including Theatre Arts Summer Camps for ages 3 to 18, which give young people an opportunity to learn about all aspects of live theater whether or not they have any prior experience; “You’re Never Too Old to Act” workshops at senior centers, which provide acting exercises and memory work where a play is ultimately created as an outgrowth of the participants’ personal experiences; our interactive touring production of “Rupert Meets Mrs. Tale,” which travels to schools, libraries, and other venues to introduce preschoolers through fifth-graders to an interactive, educational pro-reading play; and four large multigenerational community productions per year that are open for all to audition.

Carol Miller, program and development director, who has been with the organization for four years, answered the following questions: What is the mission of Jewish Family Services (JFS) of York? How does the organization work to achieve its goals? The mission of Jewish Family Services is to create a community where every individual and family of all faiths and beliefs ages with dignity and is socially connected and on a path to an improving quality of life. We do this through personalized and professional delivery of our unique programs and services in York. This small but mighty agency has been providing programs and services to people of all faiths for 31 years in York. Our programs and services with personal and professional delivery can often fill in the gaps in care that can sometimes occur, particularly for elders in York.
