Halfway Around The World To Run Local Woman Travels To Pisa, Italy To Race BY ANN MEAD ASH
ven though Lancaster resident Krista Hurley has been running since 2011 and running half marathons since 2012, prior to last year, the farthest she had ever traveled to run was South Dakota in 2020. On that trip, she ran the Crazy Horse Half Marathon - one of 18 half marathons and two full marathons she has now completed. A series of events in 2021 led to Hurley setting a new travel record for her running. While training for a fall half marathon, Hurley posted a photo online that led to her first European half. “I had to do a long run on a Friday morning near work,” she recalled, noting that completing eight 1-mile loops in cold, rainy weather in the darkness was a source of pride. Esther Willett, a friend of Hurley from their days at Dayspring Christian Academy, saw the photo and asked Hurley to join her and her sister, Hannah, at the Athens Marathon in

Toward Better Mental Health ANN MEAD ASH
“Younger generations are more apt to accept, support, and encourage loved ones to get help (for mental health issues),” said Kim McDevitt, executive director of Mental Health America of Lancaster County (MHALC). “That’s a culture shift,” added McDevitt, who noted that data shows people are being educated about mental health. “That is the only way we will reduce the stigma,” she concluded. McDevitt noted that breaking through the stigma should result in a changed view of overall wellness. “We will be looking at mental health the same way we look at physical health because they’re inter-
twined,” she shared. “If you aren’t mentally well, you will not be physically well (and vice versa).” Noting that variables associated with COVID-19 have propelled attitudes toward mental health forward, McDevitt pointed to specific areas where struggles have been clear, including with children and in workplaces. “I think if there’s ever a time to address good mental health support in the workplace, it’s now,” noted McDevitt. “Supervisors need to understand that depression alters the person.” McDevitt added that while job expectations are necessary, flexibility is essential to help maintain employee mental wellness. “Someone who is struggling

will be less productive, tardy, not meet deadlines, or be absent. The more (employees are supported) and connected to care, the more they want to give back, and the faster they will want to heal.” According to McDevitt, data is also showing that parents of today’s children are likely to seek support for a child’s mental health needs. In addition, teachers and guidance counselors are available to children attending school. In Pennsylvania, young people age 14 and older may make their own mental health decisions.
McDevitt noted that teenagers may contact MHALC directly to be connected to resources. Because the northeast portion of the U.S. has higher access to care, the prevalence of mental illness is lower, according to McDevitt. However, it still takes most people who experience issues more than a decade to seek help. MHALC supports and resources, including an online screening program, are available. Kalinowski did his first Ironman in Philadelphia in 2015 and has averaged at least one event a year, plus half Ironmans, since then. In addition to qualifying for the world championships, Kalinowski noted that the event was especially meaningful for two reasons. First, he underwent hip surgery in October of 2020, so completing the race well cemented his recovery. Secondly, Kalinowski recalled that it was the first time he was able to really “race” as opposed to pacing during an event. “I came off the bike at around 10th place overall,” he recalled. “I could stick to my race plan or race a little bit and see how far that gets me.” He decided to race and was able to go all out until about mile 14 of the running portion. Full Ironman events require a participant to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, and run 26.2 miles. Kali-
nowski also likes to do half Ironmans. He completed the 2021 Ironman 70.3 World Championships in St. George, Utah, a few weeks prior to the Indiana event. “I was 300th of about 2,500 (overall),” he said of the Utah event. “I had a good day.” Kalinowski is often asked about how he finds time to train for such feats while working full time at Eurofins in Leola. “At points throughout the year, I will spend 12 to 24 hours a week training,” he admitted. “In a typical week over the summer, I might do 200 to 250 miles on the bike, 40 to 50 miles running, and swim 8,000 yards.” Finding time to train is something Kalinowski feels passionate about. “I think people are capable of a lot more than they realize,” he said. “If you can carve out 10 hours a week, you can put
together something you might not be able to do otherwise.” He noted that most people have 30 minutes a day they could utilize. “Everyone has the time … (although) that might result in spending a little less time in front of the television.” Kalinowski said that training with others offers accountability. “Lancaster has quietly been building a really great endurance sports community,” he noted, saying that he runs with the F&M Track Club, led by Dr. Jeff Kirchner, which meets Tuesdays at 6 p.m., and includes about 100 runners. He also bicycles with the West End Riders, a local group of several dozen in part led by Jason Cavallaro. Kalinowski feels strongly that there are positive benefits from taking part in triathlons, and he does not

mean just the physical benefits. “It’s extremely important to me to encourage others because I think sport can be a positive driver (to) make them better in aspects of their lives outside sports,” he said. “I’m a very firm believer that most people are capable of a lot more than they think they are, and doing something you didn’t think was possible is an extremely powerful thing for a person.”

Bailey Named As Integrity Award Winner Ambassador Advisors recently announced that longtime team member and financial adviser Dan Bailey has been named as the recipient of the Integrity Award from the National Association of Christian Financial Consultants (NACFC). The Integrity Award was established to recognize Christians whose actions and convictions have honored God in the process of promoting biblical investment stewardship. Accord-
ing to NACFC, recipients have demonstrated biblical integrity in their personal and professional lives and during good times and bad. They have contributed “selflessly and sacrificially to the illumination of God’s word on investment stewardship.” Bailey joined Ambassador Advisors in 1992 and serves as an adviser to many local families and individuals. In 2015, Bailey earned his Christian Financial Consultant & Advisor (CFCA) desig-
nation through the NACFC. In 2017, he earned his Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) designation through Kingdom Advisors. For more than 25 years, Bailey has educated clients in the area of biblically based money management. Bailey was instrumental in inspiring Ambassador Advisors to fully convert the company’s investment philosophy to helping clients invest with biblical integrity. In doing so, he converted
one-half trillion dollars to God-honoring investments. Also, he has served and guided the current board of the NACFC as the executive secretary. The mission of NACFC, founded in 1997, is to “glorify God by impacting their world for Jesus Christ through teaching and practicing biblical stewardship.”

Around The World from pg 1 After a few days in Germany, which included visiting Christmas markets, including one in Luxembourg, the trio drove through Switzerland to Pisa. The run was held on the morning of Dec. 19. Hurley reported that the weather was sunny with temperatures in the 30s. The flat course both started and ended near the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. “I knew going in I wouldn’t have my best time because of jet lag, so I just wanted to enjoy the scenery,” said Hurley, who took more photos than she usually does while running. “It was a beautiful course, and when do I get the chance to do this?” she mused, recalling 711 E. crossing the River Arno and seeing Christmas trees dotting the town. Hurley noted that the homestretch of the run - with the Leaning Tower straight ahead and then the course turning left toward the Pisa Cathedral and Baptistery, where the finish line awaited - was especially memorable. Hurley kept herself busy while waiting for the Willet sisters to complete the full marathon. During the afternoon, she climbed the Leaning Tower. “I rounded a corner, and it was (suddenly) leaning,” she recalled. “You are walking up, but it’s leaning down.” Hurley enjoyed the view of the mountain range from the top. The trio spent a few nights in Pisa before visiting Florence. They also traveled to a number of towns, including Lucerne, Switzerland, and the town of Colmar, France. “All these little towns are decorated for Christmas with lights and trees. It’s so festive,” said Hurley. “At times, I would look around and think, ‘I can’t believe I am doing this.’ It was totally worth it, and I would do it again.”

Buckskins Battle State-Ranked Black Knights
High school wrestling is an unusual team sport built around individual contests where sometimes your best just isn’t enough. Case in point would be Conestoga Valley’s 42-18 loss to state ranked Hempfield. “Hempfield is a strong, well-balanced team that is ranked in the top ten in PA,” said head coach Trent Turner. “They were undefeated. We wrestled hard. We wrestled tough. We worked to make them earn it. But, in the end, our best on this night just wasn’t enough to pull off the upset. “We’ll get back to work to get better. Our identity is not found on the scoreboard,” he continued. “It’s found in staying true to our team core values. As long as we’re consistent with that, then the team will find success.” As the 42-18 final would indicate the Buckskins found the going on the mat difficult with just four wins on the night. Keaton Fischer highlighted the scoring with his OT victory at 145 over Reagan LeFevre, a state qualifier a year ago. “Keaton wrestled a technically and tactically solid match and came out on top,” Turner praised. Jonathan Lopez also nabbed a standard decision, topping JJ Plaza, 6-2, at 189. Zander Rider picked up the easy forfeit win at 215 while Luke Morley rounded things out by sneaking a pinfall win over Zy McCain-Murray just inside the first period horn. RIFLE The rifle team split their two most recent matches, topping Ephrata on the 6th before falling to Manheim Central on the 11th. Sierra Land paced the 490-489 win over the Mountaineers with her 99 while Ivan Shrom, Emily Russell
and Grady Ray posted matching 98s. Edison Stauffer was the fifth scorer with a 97. A few days later Land was part of a trio of 97 shooters along with Stauffer and Cadence Fazekas with Hunter Kleckner posting the top score of 98. Ray finished out the top five in the 497-485 loss to Central with a 96. SWIMMING January 11th took the CV swim team to the Lititz Rec Center to battle Manheim Central in a Section Two affair. The Buckskins came home double winners thanks to a 109-45 result on the boy’s side and a 74-65 victory on the girl’s side. Aidan Campbell powered the boys’ with solo wins in the 200freestyle and the 100-breaststroke while helping collect victories in the 200- and 400-freestyle relays. Connor Ludwig, Sam Milheim and Daniel Ivanchikov joined Campbell in the 200-free relay while Ludwig, Ashton Reese and Rome Lucchese took care of the other three legs in the 400-free relay. CV swept the relays with Isaiah Dentel, Ludwig, Reese and Ivanchikov enjoying victory in the 200-medley relay. The Buckskins tacked on four more solo wins, one each by Ludwig (100-freestyle), Reese (100-backstroke), Lucchese (500freestyle) and Ivanchikov (50freestyle). Jordan Holmes was the catalyst on the girls’ side, taking the 50-free and the 100-free while joining Ashton Heisey, Hollyn Helsel and Olivia Sowal for a 200-freestyle relay win. Sowal (200IM) and Nastia Ivanchikov (100-butterfly) accounted for the only two other solo wins for CV. The Lady Buckskins did add one more relay win with Hollyn Helsel, Ainslee Helsel, Cheyenne Plank and Ivanchikov taking the 400-freestyle relay.
BOWLING CV’s bowling team ended up on both sides of 7-0 finals, first by topping Lebanon on January 6th then by falling to Penn Manor on the 11th. Ryan Muckle led the way in the 852-625, 949-654, 745-679 and 2546-1958 pasting of Lebanon with a 563 series. Ethan Tardibuono added games of 202, 198 and 146 for his 546 series. Josiah Casler ended up with a team high 629 series thanks to games of 202, 223 and 204 but it was not enough to allow the Buckskins to hang with Penn Manor leading to that 7-0 loss. Muckle nearly matched his Lebanon series, this time posting a 565 with games of 207, 177 and 181. GIRLS’ BASKETBALL Chalk it up to a small sample size but two games into 2022, you could say that the new year is not a Lady Buckskin hoops fan. CV dropped a, 64-61, nailbiter on the road to Lebanon on the 10th before returning home on the 11th where Penn Manor dished out a 60-34 loss. Against Lebanon, CV had four
double digit scorers with Morgan Martin’s 18 topping that list. Taylor Hehnly chipped in with 14, Rhiannon Henry added 11 while Ashley Cirilo rounded out the quartet with 10 points. Despite their combined 53 points Lebanon erased CV’s 4841 lead with a 23-13 run through the final frame, handing the Lady Buckskins the three-point loss. No comeback was needed one night later as Penn Manor posted a 60-34 win. The Lady Comets opened a slim three-point edge after the opening frame before blowing the game open with a 3714 rush over the second and third quarters. Seven Lady Buckskins cracked the box score but only Hehnly broke into double digits with a team high 14 points. BOYS’ BASKETBALL The boy’s bball team also opened 2022 with a loss, falling to visiting Eastern York by a 55-48 final on January 8th. It was a tale of two halves for CV with the Buckskins jumping out to a 36-18 lead at halftime. The Golden Knights made some key adjustments at the break and rolled through the sec-

PA residents scramble to get last Walking Liberty Rolls PENNSYLVANIA - Once Pennsylvania residents got wind that Pennsylvania State Restricted Bank Rolls filled with Silver Walking Liberties dating back to the early 1900’s were being handed over, there was a mad dash to get them. That’s because some of these U.S. Gov’t issued silver coins are already worth hundreds in collector value. “It’s like a run on the banks. The phones are ringing off the hook. That’s because everyone is trying to get them before they’re all gone,” according to officials at the National Mint and Treasury who say they can barely keep up with all the orders. In fact, they had to impose a strict limit of 4 Pennsylvania State Restricted Bank Rolls. So, if you get the chance to get your hands on these State Restricted Bank Rolls you better hurry because hundreds of Pennsylvania residents al-
ready have and you don’t want to miss out. You see, the U.S. Gov’t stopped minting these Silver Walking Liberties in 1947 and there can never be any more which makes them extremely collectible. And here’s the best part. The rolls are unsearched so there’s no telling how much they could be worth in collector value. That’s why at just the $39 state minimum set by National Mint and Treasury it’s a deal too good to pass up. But you better hurry because these Pennsylvania State Restricted Bank Rolls are the only ones known to exist and Pennsylvania residents are grabbing them up as fast as they can. That’s because they make amazing gifts for children, grandchildren and loved ones. Just imagine the look on their face when you hand them one of the State Restricted Rolls — they’ll tell everyone they know what you did for them.
Q GOT ‘EM: Residents all across Pennsylvania who get their hands on these State Restricted Silver Walking Liberty Bank Rolls are definitely showing them off. That’s because they are the only ones known to exist. And here’s the best part, these Bank Rolls are loaded with U.S. Gov’t issued Silver Walking Liberty coins some dating back to the early 1900’s and worth up to 100 times their face value so everyone wants them.
Last State Restricted Silver Walking Liberty Bank Rolls go to Pennsylvania residents Pennsylvania residents get first dibs on last remaining Bank Rolls loaded with U.S. Gov’t issued Silver Walking Liberties dating back to the early 1900’s some worth up to 100 times their face value for the next 2 days STATE DISTRIBUTION: A strict limit of 4 State Restricted Bank Rolls per PA resident has been imposed
PENNSYLVANIA - “It’s a miracle these State Restricted Bank Rolls even exist. That’s why Hotline Operators are bracing for the flood of calls,” said Laura Lynne, U.S. Coin and Currency Director for the National Mint and Treasury. For the next 2 days the last remaining State of Pennsylvania Restricted Bank Rolls loaded with rarely seen U.S. Gov’t issued Silver Walking Liberties are actually being handed over to Pennsylvania residents who call the State Toll-Free Hotlines listed in today’s newspaper publication. “National Mint and Treasury recently spoke with its Chief Professional Numismatist who said ‘Very few people have ever actually saw one of these rarely seen Silver Walking Liberties issued by the U.S. Gov’t back in the early 1900’s. But to actually find them sealed away in State Restricted Bank Rolls is like finding buried treasure. So anyone lucky enough to get their hands on these Bank Rolls had better hold on to them,’” Lynne said. “Now that the State of Pennsylvania Restricted Bank Rolls are being offered up we won’t be surprised if thousands of Pennsylvania residents claim the maximum limit allowed of 4 Bank Rolls per resident before they’re all gone,” said Lynne. “That’s because after the Bank Rolls were loaded with 15 rarely seen Silver Walking Liberties, each verified to meet a minimum collector grade of very good or above, the dates and mint marks of the U.S. Gov’t issued Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollars sealed away inside the State of Pennsylvania Restricted Bank Rolls have never been searched. But, we do know that some of these coins date clear back to the early 1900’s and are worth up to 100 times their face value, so there is no telling what Pennsylvania residents will find until they sort through all the coins,” Lynne went on to say. And here’s the best part. If you are a resident of the state of Pennsylvania you cover only the $39 per coin state minimum set by the National Mint and Treasury, that’s fifteen rarely seen U.S. Gov’t issued Silver Walking Liberties worth up to 100 times their face value for just $585 which is a real steal because non state residents must pay $118 per coin which totals $1,770 if any coins remain after the 2-day deadline. The only thing Pennsylvania residents need to do is call the State Toll-Free Hotlines printed in today’s newspaper publication before the 2-day order deadline ends. “Rarely seen U.S. Gov’t issued silver coins like these are highly sought after, but we’ve never seen anything like this before. According to The Official Red Book, a Guide Book of United States Coins many Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollars are now worth $40 - $825 each in collector value,” Lynne said. “We’re guessing thousands of Pennsylvania residents will be taking the maximum limit of 4 Bank Rolls because they make such amazing gifts for any occasion for children, parents, grandparents, friends and loved ones,” Lynne continued. “We know the phones will be ringing off the hook. That’s why hundreds of Hotline Operators are standing by to answer the phones beginning at 8:30 am this morning. We’re going to do our best, but with just 2 days to answer all the calls it won’t be easy. So make sure to tell everyone to keep calling if all lines are busy. We’ll do our best to answer them all.” Lynne said. The only thing readers of today’s newspaper publication need to do is make sure they are a resident of the state of Pennsylvania and call the National Toll-Free Hotlines before the 2-day deadline ends midnight tomorrow. SILVER: one of the last silver coins minted for circulation
LAST REMAINING: minted in philadelphia, denver & san francisco

HOW TO CLAIM THE LAST STATE RESTRICTED BANK ROLLS If you are a Pennsylvania State Resident read the important information below about claiming the State Silver Bank Rolls, then call the State Toll-Free Hotline at 8:30 am: 1-800-979-3771 EXT: RWB3512
Are these Silver Walking Liberties worth more than other half dollars:
Yes. These U.S. Gov’t issued Silver Walking Liberties were minted in the early 1900’s and will never be minted again. That makes them extremely collectible. The vast majority of half dollars minted after 1970 have no silver content at all and these Walking Liberties were one of the last silver coins minted for circulation. That’s why many of them now command hundreds in collector value so there’s no telling how much they could be worth in collector value someday.
How much are State Restricted Walking Liberty Silver Bank Rolls worth:
It’s impossible to say, but some of these U.S Gov’t issued Walking Liberties dating back to the early 1900’s are worth up to 100 times the face value and there are 15 in each Bank Roll so you better hurry if you want to get your hands on them. Collector values always fluctuate and there are never any guarantees. But we do know they are the only Pennsylvania State Silver Bank Rolls known to exist and Walking Liberties are highly collectible so anyone lucky enough to get their hands on these Silver Bank Rolls should hold onto them because there’s no telling how much they could be worth in collector value someday.
Why are so many Pennsylvania residents claiming them:
Because they are the only State Restricted Walking Liberty Silver Bank Rolls known to exist and everyone wants their share. Each Bank Roll contains a whopping 15 Silver Walking Liberties dating back to the early 1900’s some worth up to 100 times their face value. Best of all Pennsylvania residents are guaranteed to get them for the state minimum set by the National Mint and Treasury of just $39 per Silver Walking Liberty for the next two days.
How do I get the State Restricted Walking Liberty Silver Bank Rolls:
Pennsylvania residents are authorized to claim up to the limit of 4 State Restricted Walking Liberty Silver Bank Rolls by calling the State Toll Free Hotline at 1-800-979-3771 Ext. RWB3512 starting at precisely 8:30 am this morning. Everyone who does is getting the only State Restricted Walking Liberty Silver Bank Rolls known to exist. That’s a full Bank Roll containing 15 Silver Walking Liberties from the early 1900’s some worth up to 100 times their face value for just the state minimum set by the National Mint and Treasury of just $39 per Silver Walking Liberty, which is just $585 for the full Bank Rolls and that’s a real steal because non state residents are not permitted to call before 5 pm tomorrow and must pay $1,770 for each Pennsylvania State Restricted Walking Liberty Silver Bank Roll if any remain.

Capital Blue Cross has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania for the fourth consecutive year, placing 23rd among large companies. According to Capital Blue Cross president and CEO Todd Shamash, the designation is awarded based on employees’ evaluations of the company. Most Capital Blue Cross employees began working remotely in March 2020 to best ensure their safety and well-being, while a small number of staff continued to work on-site to provide critical support services. As the COVID19 pandemic evolved, Capital Blue Cross did, too, reinventing the way its employees work. Many now have fulltime remote working status, while some have hybrid inoffice/at-home schedules, and a smaller number work full time on-site.
