“(For the first time), all grades preK through 12 are unified here at one campus,” said Kreider. “In the past, everyone was always welcome at homecoming, but now it feels like it is everyone’s campus.”

All funds raised by the event will go to Second Wind Dreams, a nonprofit organization that focuses on fulfilling dreams for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia and providing education and raising awareness about these two age-related issues.

To raise the $37,000 necessary to decorate graves of local veterans in 23 cemeteries on the third Saturday in December, Diem and other volunteers hold several yearly fundraisers, including a bingo game, a candle sale, and a golf tournament. Asha Marwaha netted the game winner in the 50th minute but head coach Tom Erickson was quick to credit his defense for the win. “The key to the win was the outstanding play of our senior defenders; Anna Kaufman, Elyse Emery, Taylor Horst, and Asha Marwaha. Lady Buckskin’s two most recent wins resulted in a title at the Donegal Tournament on September 10th. CV opened with a 6-1 demolition of Susquehanna Township before taking the crown with a 4-1 win over the host Lady Indians.

The first loss of a season is usually the most difficult to swallow and for the girls’ volleyball team that loss went down September 13th. Match scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-20 led to a 3-0 final with Hempfield claiming the win. Summer Getz had 17 assists, Emily Kornacki 11 digs and Becca Hartranft finished with six kills.
The cross-country team welcomed McCaskey and Penn Manor to Witmer on the 13th with the boys enjoying a 2-0 day while the Lady Buckskins stumbled to 0-2 on the day.
The first setback came on September 7th when Hempfield netted all three scores in a 3-0 final during the game’s final 15-minutes. Jacob Carr turned away three shots in theTheloss.Buckskins hit the road on the 10th for a trip to Great Valley where the result was a long trip home from Malvern thanks to a 1-0 loss. Carr finished with nine saves but was unable to stop a Liam Hutchinson shot in the 9th minute that proved to be the game-winner. Trevor Forney added two Conestogasaves.Valley returned to the L-L for their next tilt, hosting Penn Manor on the 13th. The familiar setting gave CV a spark leading to a 10 victory and that 3-3 mark. It’s always a lot of fun showing them how to use the slingshot for the whoopie pie launch,” said Francis Swan, who operates the activity each year with his wife, Terry. Children were able to decorate their own whoopie pies and enjoy a bounce house, face painting and a whoopie pie treasure hunt.
