The Susquehanna Chorale is funded in part by the Cultural Enrichment Fund, the capital region’s united arts fund, and the
Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. For details, including a performance schedule, visit the previously mentioned website.
STEM Team from pg 1 Through their research, the STEM team members found that only 24% of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) jobs in Pennsylvania were held by women. Because students often form a career identity by the end of middle school, that became the STEM team’s target audience. The goal of W.I.S.E. is to have students receive a notification each day of an important contribution, an award, a fun fact, an event, and links about women in STEM fields in an attempt to normalize women in STEM fields. The team designed
and built the W.I.S.E. app on the Appy Pie platform. Led by STEM coach and teacher Elizabeth Kirman, LDHS has a six-year history competing in the Pennsylvania Governor’s STEM Competition. At the regional level (Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, and northern York counties), LDHS STEM teams have earned one first-place title, two second-place honors, and one fourth-place finish. At the state level, LDHS STEM teams have placed third overall, first in both the people’s choice and sustainability categories, and an honorable mention.

JBT Announces Promotion, Appointment Jonestown Bank & Trust Co. (JBT) recently announced that Michael Grenier of Harrisburg has been promoted to chief risk officer. As chief risk officer, Grenier is responsible for overseeing JBT’s risk management efforts, loan workout and collections, credit administration, compliance with regulatory requirements such as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as well as security efforts related to monitoring suspicious banking activity and the physical safety of JBT locations. Grenier has been employed with JBT for more than nine years in various roles, includ-
ing his most recent position as assistant vice president credit administration and risk management officer. Grenier joined JBT as branch manager at the bank’s Quentin Road location before being named credit administration officer. A graduate of Gettysburg College with a Bachelor of Arts in management and economics, Grenier is a licensed certified community bank risk specialist with 33 years of banking experience. In addition, Troy A. Peters, president of JBT, was named to serve on the Consumer Financial Services Committee of the Independent Commu-
nity Bankers of America (ICBA). ICBA is the nation’s voice for community banks. In addition to helping shape and advocate ICBA’s national policy positions and programs, Peters’ duties include engaging in grassroots activities in Pennsylvania to promote procommunity bank policies and serving as a liaison between community banks and ICBA staff and leadership in Washington, D.C. Middle School Artists Honored Lower Dauphin Middle School sixth-grader Lily Mayer and eighth-grader Sammie Gallick were recently recognized by officials from UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics (UPMC CCP) in Hummelstown for creating innovative and artistic shirt designs. Lily’s design featured lungs covered in flowers with the caption “Breathing Happiness Into Kids,” and Sammie’s showed a UPMC CCP camera with a mountain landscape. Lily’s design took first place, but office man-
