PA-HART members supported the missions. The Pennsylvania teams were among the first to arrive in South Carolina, and they participated in early rescue operations to assist evacuations of local citizens to safe areas where medical attention could be provided. The crews were also called on to identify damaged infrastructure, ensure flooded roadways were barricaded, determine areas prone to future flooding, transport emergency supplies, and fly life-saving and communications equipment to various locations throughout South Carolina.

An eighth-grader at Lower Dauphin Middle School was recently recognized in front of her classmates for doing the right thing. Merci Brown-Nystrom, the daughter of Ben Nystrom and Tricia Brown-Nystrom, was nominated after she demonstrated integrity in recognizing a violation of school rules was taking place. She was honored for doing the right thing even though it would have been easier to say nothing. Merci received a gift card, a Do the Right Thing T-shirt and certificate, and a pizza coupon.
Current high school senior Garrett Bauer received a certificate for helping a cafeteria worker move a large table without being asked. The Do the Right Thing program recognizes students in the Lower Dauphin community who have distinguished themselves through their accomplishments, attitude, or outstanding efforts. Any adult over the age of 18 may nominate a child. For more information, readers may contact Angela Durantine at adurantine@ldsd.org.
Please Note: Updates can be made to your church’s listing for 1st issue date of each month only. (Changes must be submitted by the previous Wednesday) For More Information On Church Listings And Rates, Call Justin at 717-492-2533
Merci Brown-Nystrom (center) received recognition through the Do the Right Thing program. Offering congratulations were (from left) Lower Dauphin School District superintendent Robert Schultz, Hummelstown student resource officer Eugene Spencer, Lower Dauphin Middle School principal Jill Freedman, and Lower Dauphin Communities That Care program director Angie Durantine.
Lions Club Inducts New Member
R024241
An induction ceremony was held in October at the Grace United Methodist Church for the newest member of the Hershey Lions Club. Kaitlyn Schultz was inducted after being sponsored by her father, member Brent Schultz. Lions Clubs are groups of people who identify needs within the community and work together to meet those needs. For almost 74 years, the Hershey Lions Club has worked on a variety of projects in the local
community, such as eyeglass collections and eye exams, food bank collections, a tree planting, support of youth sports, and the provision of scholarships. The Hershey Lions Club invites civicminded men and women to join the club, which has 29 members and meets on the first and third Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church, 433 E. Main St., Hummelstown. For more information, readers may visit www.hersheylions.org.
The Hershey Lions Club recently inducted Kaitlyn Schultz (front). Karen Schultz (back, left), sponsor Brent Schultz (back, center), and Joan Schultz offered congratulations.
