Historic Rock Ford’s Historic Dance troupe will offer introductory English country dance lessons from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Feb. 2, Feb. 16, March 2 and March 16. The program will be held on the first floor of the barn at Historic Rock Ford, 881 Rockford Road, Lancaster. English country dances, once popular in Great Britain and the United States, range from slow-paced dances to more lively ones.

The lessons are intended for individuals who have little or no English country dance experience and who are interested in volunteering at Historic Rock Ford as members of the Historic Dance troupe. Historic Rock Ford dancer membership requirements will be emailed to enrollees prior to the first introductory lesson. There is no fee to participate, and attendees do not need to bring a partner. They should wear comfortable, soft-soled shoes and ordinary casual clothes, and layers are recommended. They may also bring a bottle of water. To sign up, email modern baker@gmail.com.

Smucker Moves District Office

Rep. Lloyd Smucker announced that his Lancaster district office moved to 2270 Erin Court, Lancaster, and is fully operational as of Jan. 3. Constituent services continued uninterrupted.

Smucker’s new office space will give ample access to free parking for constituents. It is also located directly off Route 30, the main thoroughfare connecting Lancaster and York counties. The new office space comes with cost savings to the taxpayers.

All children residing in the Lampeter-Strasburg School District who will be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2023, are eligible to enter kindergarten for the 2023-34 school year. Online kindergarten registration will open on Wednesday, Feb. 1, and school-age child care registration for kindergartners will open on Monday, Feb. 13.

Parents of kindergarten-age children who are not planning to enroll for the 2023-24 school year should call 717464-3311, ext. 1027, or email tanya_groff@l-spioneers.org before Wednesday, March 1, to inform the student accounting department.

A Kindergarten Expo is scheduled for Tuesday, March 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. This event is for adults and will include opportunities to gather information about the registration process, ask questions, and meet staff members. YMCA Waives Joining Fee
