Little Lambs Christian Preschool Sets Open House

Little Lambs Christian Preschool will hold an open house and registration event for new students on Tuesday, Feb. 7. Parents and children may visit the preschool from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Staff members and current parents will be available to answer questions. Little Lambs is located at High View Church of God, 2470 Leaman Road, Ronks. The preschool is a nonprofit mission outreach program of High View.

Little Lambs will accept registrations for the 2023-24 school year during the open house. The preschool program offers a playgroup for 2-year-olds on Mondays and Wednesdays. The 3- and 4year-old class is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The prekindergarten program for 4- and 5-year-olds offers a two-day program on Mondays and Wednesdays or three-day option that meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The classes run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. All preschool classes are taught by Pennsylvania certified teachers.

Little Lambs is a Christian-based program whose mission is to provide the finest in early childhood education, to prepare children for kindergarten, and to direct attention to moral values. The daily activities include biblical lessons, Chapel Time with the pastor, play, stories, music, art, reading and math readiness activities, outside play, field trips, and class visitors. The school welcomes children from all religious backgrounds; no specific doctrine will be taught.

Little Lambs is located in the Conestoga Valley School District. While the majority of the students are from Conestoga Valley and LampeterStrasburg school districts, the school also attracts students from Pequea Valley and Solanco school districts and the School District of Lancaster. Sertoma Club Plans Sub Sale

The Strasburg Area Sertoma Club will hold its annual sub sale on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 40 W. Main St., Strasburg. The club will sell ham and cheese, regular and cheese (vegetarian) subs for a fee per sandwich.

Orders before Friday, Feb. 3, are preferred. Additional subs will be available on the day of the sale. To preorder, call 717-687-6408.

The funds raised will be used to support local charities and civic organizations.

Dairy Summit Scheduled

Hosted by the Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania and the Center for Dairy Excellence, the 2023 Dairy Summit will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 8, and Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center in State College. The Pennsylvania Dairy Summit allows dairy professionals to learn from both industry experts and their peers about how to uncover and leverage the opportunities available in the dairy industry.

Pennsylvania dairy producers can receive free transportation from Quarryville on Feb. 8 and 9. The van will leave at 5:30 a.m. both days and return at 8 p.m. on Wednesday and 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. This transportation will be provided at no cost for day runs only. The Dairy Summit is a two-day event, so producers can utilize the transportation on one day or both days based on their schedules. Exact pickup locations will be provided after registration.

New this year, discounted registration costs are available to dairy producers from any state through grants and support from the Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center, the Center for Dairy Excellence, Professional Dairy Managers of PA, and sponsors. Other discounts are available for additional people who register from the same farm; when registering online, use the discount code “FUSION23.”

LMLRA Posts 66th Annual Show

The Lancaster Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (LMLRA) will hold its 66th annual gun show at the Solanco Fairgrounds, 172 S. Lime St., Quarryville. The show will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29.

The show will feature 150 tables, and the public will be able to buy, sell, or trade items at the show. Among the items will be modern and antique guns, muzzleloaders, black powder items, knives, collectibles, books, and accessories. The event will also include silent auctions and artisan demonstrations. Food and other refreshments will be available.

A set donation per person is requested. Free parking will be available.

No alcohol or loaded firearms will be permitted on the premises. All state and federal laws will be observed.

The LMLRA is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1956 and currently has approximately 100 members. The purpose of the club, which meets monthly, is to encourage and promote interest in muzzleloading firearms and related items.

Seador Works On Research Project

Samantha Seador of Lancaster is working on an Albright Creative Research Experience (ACRE) project this winter at Albright College. Through ACRE projects, undergraduate students conduct research or pursue creative endeavors outside of regular semester sessions. Student proposals that are accepted by a faculty review board are rewarded with college stipends.

A graduate of LampeterStrasburg High School, Seador is studying biochemistry at Albright while working with Ian Cost, assistant professor of biology, on “3D Flight Muscle Architecture Reconstruction on Tyto alba Skeletal Model.”
