INTRODUCTION In the past week we have been studying the uses of poetry and how we can use it to express our feelings and thoughts. But because we have been studying freedom we have decided it would be best to use poetry and describe what freedom. To me poetry is one of the best ways to express freedom because it uses good use of metaphors, similes and rhymes. This helps readers of all ages to understand how the simple use of words can have a huge affect in your mind when you read each poem.
POEM 1: “EXAMPLES OF FREEDOM Examples of Freedom Freedom is being free
With no worries of the bad Like slavery that makes people mad Or wars that destroy and create boundaries Between every country there is a line Instead of land that connects the world
In my poem "Examples of Freedom" uses the basic meanings of what people would define as freedom. For example , Human Rights to all people and would mean No Slavery which is relating to Having the right to talk and express ideas. But there can be more than thousands of meanings to the word freedom that we can only express a few out of hundreds to come. So this short poem are my few examples of freedom.
POEM 2: HAIKU The Free Bird Freedom is a bird
That flies through the great blue sky With no worries
In Spanish Libertad es el pĂĄjaro Que vuela a travĂŠs de la gran azul cielo Sin inquietar
To me this Haiku that l wrote is about how freedom is like a free bird because birds have that freedom to fly where ever they want. This is a example of how freedom is a time when you have endless possibilities in the world and you are free to do what you want.
POEM 3: “UNIVERSAL FREEDOM IS…” (FOUND POEM)
Universal Freedom Is......
Freedom from hunger and freedom from pain Freedom to live and freedom to die. freedom to laugh and freedom to cry. Freedom to speak and freedom to listen
freedom to act based on a wise decision. Freedom from hate and freedom of love freedom of below and freedom of above. Freedom of the past and freedom of the present freedom of the future and what it can represent. freedom from loss and so freedom from gain.
Freedom to give and freedom to share freedom from want and that of despair. Freedom to think and freedom to know freedom to achieve and freedom to grow. Freedom from bondage and freedom of liberation freedom from ignorance and any unknown situation. Freedom to come and freedom to leave freedom to stay and freedom to conceive. Freedom from struggle and freedom of ease freedom to enjoy and the capacity to please. Freedom from failure and freedom of success freedom from denial and freedom of access. Freedom from illusion and freedom of reality freedom to become what we are in actuality.
This poem "Universal Freedom Is…" talks about what it takes to have universal freedom or world peace but as you can see it takes a lot of effort to do this and is not an easy task. But of course even though no one is perfect people still have the ability to work together and help one another. But to have freedom is based on actions and state of mind to have the mind of freedom to bring freedom.
POEM 3: “UNIVERSAL FREEDOM IS…” (FOUND POEM) PART 2
freedom to begin and freedom to cease.
Freedom from sickness and freedom of health freedom from poverty and mishandled wealth. Freedom from wrong and freedom being right freedom of the day and freedom of the night.
Freedom to choose and freedom to reject freedom to imagine what there is to expect. Freedom from lust and freedom from greed freedom from anger and freedom from breed. Freedom from jealousy and freedom from pride freedom from within and freedom from outside. Freedom of always not having anything to hide. Freedom from space and also freedom from time freedom from attachment and freedom from crime Freedom to work and freedom to play freedom to believe and freedom to pray.
Freedom to experience a rebirth someday. Freedom from the body and freedom from the mind freedom from the ego and freedom from being blind. Freedom of transcendence being of the spiritual kind. Universal freedom is eternal and infinite bliss we should all therefore be able to realise this. George Krokos
POEM 4: “MY 13TH YEAR IN LIFE” My 13th year of life
Another year older, a step further in my life
Like going to school on weekdays
Playing baseball on Saturdays
But my life has surprises that come and go
That slither across the floor or hide behind the back door
My life is free and unique in so many ways
Being 13 will end one day but my life still moves on but will one day stop
In my poem "My 13th year of life" I tell the story of what my life is like . By a good use of language of personification to express my life in the best way that l can. A good example of the personification is “But my life has surprises that could come and go.” (Line 4). This is how l show how life is unexpected and you don’t know what will happen.
POEM 5: “WHAT IS FREEDOM” What is freedom
Freedom is no rules and rights to all Freedom is no slavery that beat and kill Freedom from wars and freedom from hunger
The freedom to learn and the freedom from loss Freedom from comparison from the rich and the poor.
In my poem “What is Freedom” I end this portfolio by showing what l learned about freedom and what l think it is. But of course l only listed l few out of the hundreds yet to come . So this poem is meant to show some of the meanings of what freedom means.
