Chairman Reviews ‘09-’10 Highlights Dear Chamber Members, It is difficult to believe that my term as Chairman of the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce is coming to a close. However, when I look at the progress our community has made towards accomplishing the objectives outlined in last year’s strategic plan, I am impressed that it all happened in only 12 months. The most significant achievement in our community was approval of the $99.5 million school bond. Other notable accomplishments include the 66TH Street upgrade and business expansion at the airport, progress on affordable quality housing, and establishing a retail recruitment and retention program. Enid has the momentum and the Chamber will continue to partner with businesses and other organizations to be proactive on community development issues and objectives. The Chamber’s mission, to improve the quality of life and economic climate in Enid and the surrounding area, is ongoing. It has been my pleasure to work with the Chamber Board, Ambassadors, and Mr. Jon Blankenship and his staff to further that mission. Finally, I would like to thank Dr. Cheryl Evans for the support she provided over the past year as Chairman-elect. I look forward to working with her and the rest of the Board in the coming year. Thank you. Best regards, Jimmy Stallings, Chairman of the Board
GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY Ground breaking for the expansion of Aircraft Structures International Corp. and the 66th Street upgrade was conducted at the airport on May 17th. Officials from the City of Enid, Enid Regional Development Alliance, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Enid Woodring Regional Airport, Oklahoma congressional offices, Security National Bank, and Aircraft Structures participated at the event and ceremony. The 66th Street industrial access road will help facilitate additional industrial development at the Cimarron Industrial Park. MIckey and Kay Stowers, co-owners of Aircraft Structures, indicated that the $2 million dollar expansion of their business will result in the addition of 30 to 40 new jobs over the next 3-5 years.
