From the Publisher’s Notebook Someone needs to explain to me what’s going on with the construction behind the Read House. They closed the street for weeks. Totally removed the old road. Interfered with traffic and the local merchants. Spent hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars for what? The street is basically the same. It looks nicer

I can’t believe they are going to take part of MLK/9th Street for bike lanes. The area is in the process of coming back alive and now they are going to strangle traffic. Where do these stupid ideas come from?

I’m going to sign off for now as my blood pressure is rising over this crap. Working on an article about crap or craft beer. What a joke.

ernment just blew that off. Last week I had the problem of finding an address. The buildings on the street had no numbers. Why can’t our city commission pass a simple ordinance giving all business owners and/or property owners six months to put street numbers on their property? Is it too hard for them to do this?

and they lost a few parking places, for what? Is this a case of politicians doing a favor for one of their friends who owns property in the area? An answer from City Hall is owed to the people.

Another thing mentioned— all business signage should be at least 50 percent in English. We are creating ghetto-like shopping areas with only foreign language signage. To the business owner— you are in the USA, try to blend Several months ago I wrote about in, if you can’t or won’t do this, go the lack of numbers on buildings home. around town. Abandoned by Paul Ryan, the Grand Old Party’s Speaker of the House and a former presidential hopeful in his own right, and most sentient members of Club Pachyderm, Trump continues to prove himself unworthy of the highest office in this nation. It is all so sad that it might be funny if a delusional, desperate few didn’t still cling to the hair-plugged blowhard’s megalomaniacal delusions...

A judge was charged with bribery after being accused of offering beer and cash to a police officer in exchange for his wife’s text messages, according to police in North Carolina. Superior Court Judge Arnold Ogden Jones II was found guilty of bribery and other charges in connection with the bribery attempt of the police officer. According to the police investigation, the judge suspected that his wife was cheating, and he wanted to get his hands on the text mes-

sages of her cellphone. The Wayne County police officer, who is also an FBI agent, reported that the judge offered him beer and $100 to get the text messages. The judge vowed to seek reelection despite being convicted of bribery. The judge is facing up to 37 years in prison and up to $750,000 in fines. for using his gun to shoot the customer after closing time. According to the criminal complaint, police officers were called to the Kat’s Bar and Grille around 1:00 a.m. on Friday, on a report of a dispute. Witnesses at the scene told police that the dispute broke out when the customer refused to leave following closing time. The employee pulled out his gun and fired a shot. The bullet grazed the client’s face. The employee left the scene before police arrived. Officers went to his home, where he was arrested.

A Maine man clad in a tree costume was arrested when he blocking traffic after being told by police to stay out of the street. Police said Asher Woodworth, 30, donned a tree costume reminiscent of a camouflage ghillie suit Monday and wandering into a busy downtown Portland intersection. Woodworth stopped traffic and drew attention as he slowly inched his way across the crosswalk, and he was soon joined by a pair of police officers who escorted him to the other side. “All right,

get out of the road or you’re going to get arrested,” one officer said. The police officers told the man he was free to go with a warning to stay out of the street. “I’ll accept your silence as you understand. You’re free to go,” an officer says. The man wandered back into the street moments later and was arrested. “His motivation was to see how people would react to what he called his ‘performance’ and how he might impact ‘people’s natural choreography,’” Assistant Police Chief Vern Malloch told the Portland Press Herald. “It happens from time to time,” Malloch said. “People do bizarre things because they want to get arrested. We’re still not sure if he was trying to make a statement.” Woodworth was charged with obstructing a public way and released on $60 bail. Officials of the United States Postal Service (USPS) have launched an investigation after a worker was recorded discarding mail. The postal worker in Decatur, Georgia, was seen dumping multiple bins of mail in the woods by throwing them over a fence. The mail included bank statements and other important documents. USPS sent workers to collects the dumped mail, and they promised to deliver them as soon as possible. Kellie Campbell said that she witnessed the incident, and watched as the postal worker dumped multiple bins of mail in the woods for more than five minutes. So far, no charges have been filed even though investigators found more than 12 bins of dumped mail. People in the area complained that they haven’t received their mail. A team of San Francisco-area doctors detailed the case of a 47-yearold man whose attempt at eating ghost peppers caused a rupture in his esophagus. The Journal of Emergency Medicine case report, authored by Dr. Craig Smollin and his team, said the man was participating in an eating contest at a

San Francisco restaurant when he wolfed down a hamburger topped with ghost peppers, which have more than twice the heat of habanero peppers. “To our knowledge, no significant adverse effects of ghost pepper ingestion have been reported,” the case report’s abstract states. The man suffered severe vomiting and dryheaving after ingesting the peppers, leading him to be admitted to the University of California San Francisco Medical Center. Doctors discovered the man had suffered a 1-inch rupture in his esophagus, which allowed food debris and air to end up inside his chest and collapse one of his lungs. “There are many people who have ghost peppers and most people don’t develop any type of severe symptoms,” Smollin told The Los Angeles Times. “This case serves as an important reminder of a potentially life-threatening surgical emergency initially interpreted as discomfort after a large spicy meal,” the study authors wrote.

A massive Ouija board constructed on top of a reportedly haunted hotel in Pennsylvania could be the world’s largest. Blair Murphy hopes to have his 44 foot-by-29 foot Ouija board, constructed atop his home in the Grand Midway Hotel, featured in the Guinness Book of World Records. “Well, for years, the roof itself was a canvas waiting for a painting. We were talking about the Guinness Book of World Records, and they said they don’t have a large Oujia board yet,” he said. “So they said they would create a category if we made the painting.” Murphy, an independent filmmaker from Los Angeles, purchased the notoriously haunted hotel with friends 15 years ago and ultimately converted it into his home. Murphy said the Ouija board, which he created in conjunction with local artists, could stir some controversy in the Western Pennsylvania community. “[In] the town itself, I have no idea what the reaction is,” he said. “It’s a pretty conservative town, so I’m

A Canadian man ran the Chicago Marathon while juggling three balls and completed the race in less than three hours without dropping a single ball. Michal Kapral, who also refers to himself as “The Joggler,” finished the race in two hours and 55 minutes, as he attempted to top his “joggling” marathon world record of two hours and 50 minutes. “My main goal was break my 2:50 record, but I had a somewhat secret secondary goal of joggling a marathon without a drop in under 3 hours,” Kapral wrote in a blog post. While Kapral didn’t achieve his primary goal, he managed to cross the finish line without a single drop despite some close calls. He’s completed a total of 33 marathons including his world record time at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon in 2007 and shouted triumphantly as he added a new accomplishment to his resume in Chicago.

A California man on a cage diving trip off Mexico’s Guadalupe Island captured the moment a great white shark got into the cage while a diver was still inside. The video shows the view from outside the water as the great white takes some bait on the end of a line before crashing into the side of the diving cage. The shark manages to crash right through the bars and thrashes around inside the cage while the panicked crew works to open the top and free the predator, which is trapped in the cage with a human diver. The shark, which has blood coming from its mouth, is able to exit the cage through the open top, and a few seconds later the diver also emerges unharmed. “My heart is going,” the diver can be heard saying as he returns to safety.

More Hillary Hijinks With Election Day looming I wanted to take my last chance to attempt to inform some readers as to some more of Hillary Clinton’s (or her minions) inappropriate actions in attempting to sway the election results.

Now it’s my belief that the regular Enigma reader is a bit more news/information savvy individual than the average “get my news from Google” types. So hang on. Some of this may be a review for the person who looks beyond what the lame-stream media (LSM) puts out. I just wonder if a secret tape of Trump supporters talking about hiring homeless people to disrupt Hillary rallies surfaced what would the media reaction be? Leaked e-mails have alluded to the Clinton’s taking millions of dollars for “speeches” and the subsequent public appearance from the governments of several nations which have atrocious records on women’s rights as well as the treatment of Lesbian ,Gay, Bi-sexual and trans-sexual people. Yet Hillary claims she triumphs the cause of LGBT people.

This e-mail debacle (scandal has been overused) has been a problem for not only Hillary but also Barack Obama. Obama in a 2015 interview claimed he found out about Hillary Clinton using a nongovernmental thus nonsecured server/s to send and receive government business much of which was classified when everyone else did. Due to some of the leaked e-mails it was uncovered that Cheryl Mills long-time friend, adviser and sometimes alleged legal counsel of Hillary Clinton mentioned in an e-mail that Obama had e-mails sent from Hillary Clinton that were not sent from “government equipment”. The Disappearance of Private Clubs in America All across the country private clubs are struggling or closing. That is not prevalent in today’s younger adults (the millennials). In other words they don’t really care like the older members do… read on you might get a feeling of why.

We are told we must be politically correct— I say to hell with political correctness. What about our rights to be politically incorrect? Don’t I have a right to be a bigot or a racist if I so choose? It’s time we take back our right to what the US used to guarantee us, that being freedom of choice— freedom to choose… freedom to choose who you want in your club, house, or life, based on any standards you wish— freedom to be a jerk if you choose. Stand up for your right to be yourself no matter how awful society says it is. They don’t pay your bills. Live free or die. Sam Colt once said all men are created equal. That’s true, but from that part on the equality fades. This is still the USA, right?

Besides Trump’s book, I was tired of how he became the golden boy of all the magazines and media. Everything about him in the New York Times or People magazine was glowing stories of this rich New York developer. Then he got involved with the USFL. That was the short-lived professional football league that was a rival to the NFL in the early/mid ‘80s. Donald being Donald did not take this personal attack lying down. It became a public feud that goes on today. This was the beginning of me softening my feelings on Trump. Trump, no-holds barred came right back with both barrels calling her every name in the book things like disgusting and a “fat pig”. being the party of old white men. I was and am proud that my political party of choice was now as diverse in makeup as they were once criticized for not being. And to be honest, most were good candidates and many will continue to be so in the upcoming election cycles. All but one of the candidates ranged in age of early 40s to early 60s. The exception being Trump. I, like many did not take his candidacy seriously at first. The pool of candidates was too rich I thought for anyone to take him seriously. Then one of my liberal friends chimed in and made fun of Trump because he had no political experience. “He was only a businessman”. I never truly understood political science. I was always told statesmen were members of the community that donated their time or took time away from their business or trade to help their community by representing them. It wasn’t a trade or practice. That is one of the problems with politics today. Too many people are into it for the money and not the initial intent to properly represent their community and constituency. cy, but how to interact with others, negotiate and take care of business, often on a smaller scale but just the same. Board meetings as well as congressional meetings are both run by Roberts Rules of Order. If you don’t know what that is look it up. Those are the rules created centuries ago to run and keep order in a meeting be it government or otherwise. So Trump, who has been in business for himself for 40 or so years is much more experienced in running a meeting and keeping order than most of Congress or the House of Representatives. I still didn’t take Trump seriously as a candidate. I heard his initial platform and agreed with his statements on immigration, jobs, the economy and defense. I still had no plans on voting for him but the more he talked policy the farther up on my list of candidates he climbed. For the past couple of years I have had lunch with a group of businessmen – all older than me. Most are attorneys, a few entrepre-

neurs, and even a judge or two from time to time. I always kept quiet around them for the most part taking in their conversations like I usually do. They started talking about the election and a couple of them were high on Trump. They liked what little bit of policy he stated and agreed almost wholeheartedly with his opinion on illegal immigration, the loss of jobs and the trade imbalance. These were guys respected in their fields all seeing beyond the reality show persona and larger than life personality and ego of Trump. I started to soften my opposition to “The Donald”. Maybe he was a serious candidate. Truth be told I voted for Dr. Ben Carson in my primary, but Trump was on my radar. I am loyal for the most part to my party of choice and decided I would vote for him if he by some odd chance won the party’s nomination. And as I watched Trump go on the offensive – being offensive to many and politically incorrect I both laughed and face palmed. One by one he barreled over and

bullied his way through the field. I think the showman in him and the “flash” he displayed being in center ring of this political circus helped him. His time as a media darling early in life and a reality star brought out the showman in him that most politicians don’t have. He relishes the spotlight where most political candidates shy away from except when running for office. His bombastic personality was similar to a bull going through a china shop. Honestly it was fun to watch even if it was my party of choice. The Republican primary was reminiscent of a WWE event instead of a political event. Instead of policy being discussed insult and barb were thrown from all sides. On the Democratic side they were quiet and despite the Bernie Sanders revolution it was obvious their primary was predetermined in favor of Hillary Clinton. The Super Delegates gave this away. While unlike their name a Super Delegate doesn’t wear a cape (at least not our in public) they can be

used to hijack delegates from one candidate to the other. Basically whoever is running on the Democratic ballot it is already predetermined who will represent the party in the general election. There is only an illusion of true Democracy. Yet another reason for me to hate the Democratic Party. While the Republican primary looked like an episode of Jerry Springer on the Democratic side only Sanders talked policy with Clinton staying in the shadows. Everyone knew what Sanders stood for. Those with any real intelligence also knew it could never work. On the Republican side once Trump started to divide the field with his often obnoxious remarks he became the only candidate to talk about his platform. The rest of the Republican field spent their time either pretending to be insulted by Trump or started putting him down as well. I still don’t know what Cruz or Rubio’s platform is. Sure I could go to their website and read, but it is up to the candidate to articulate that

to the electorate which is something Trump managed to between barbs and Cruz, Rubio and the rest of the field did not as they were too offended (or pretended to be) or made weak attempts to return insults.

“Little Marco, “Lyin’” Ted and “Crooked” Hillary had me honestly laughing at how juvenile they were but also effective at the same time.

Republicans were saying and it wasn’t nice. Unless they got their way they would not support Trump. Many “establishment” Republicans already butted heads

an immediate dislike for Trump because of his “art of the deal”. Even to this day I think I am as good at negotiating as he but I don’t have access to the same resources. He’s a billionaire. I wanted to be one and still do. Let’s face it he is living the American Dream and those with lofty goals and fell short are jealous. That being said, there is a healthy jealousy that can be used to keep one motivated and a nasty jealousy when one resorts to nastiness, deceit and trickery to attack others we are jealous. Mine was the first. The rest not so much. And to be honest in hindsight while I haven’t been as successful as Trump I still have done a lot better than many. And I’m still holding out hope.

While this was going on I started becoming disheartened by my party. When it was becoming obvious that Trump was starting to pull away I started reading and listening to what “establishment”

with Ted Cruz because of his Constitutional stands. It was becoming ever so transparent that the Republicans were the same as the Democrats. All they were interested in was getting elected to office and staying there and put on some act that they had the general populace’s best interest at heart. Not the case. As I’ve said and written for years there is only one political party in our country and that’s the Opportunist Party. The way candidates jump parties back and forth all in an effort to stay in office is disturbing. Even Sanders became an Independent candidate in Vermont – of course Independent was an easier way for him to get elected than Communist which is basically what his policies are. Just because you call yourself a Democratic Socialist doesn’t change that. I’ve seen candidates jump political parties to either stay elected or get elected when they could not win as a member of the other political party depending on trends. It goes from the highest office down to local races. Many forget the current sheriff where I live lost the election twice as a Democrat before switching parties.

And that is what bothers me about this campaign. From the primaries to the general election just a few days away all attacks on Trump have been personal. From the very beginning attacks were made on everything from his hair to his skin tone (how ironic in this politically correct world we live) to the size of his hands. What about his message? For his billions (supposed) Trump has been able to reach down and relate to every man, woman and child and address their concerns – not the concerns of a political party. Minimal time has been spent disputing or arguing his platform other than to call him names like misogynist, racist, xenophobe and others instead of debating the issues. Trump is a true outsider this political season and that is why he has such a grassroots following.

All this time I was singing the praises of my party of choice. I was impressed we had so many candidates and how diverse they were as I stated earlier. Trump was the lone wild card. However despite his lack of “political” experience he knew how to divide and conquer, something all great businessmen know how to do as well as leaders of men. Trump’s attack on his opponents have been hilarious even if they aren’t politically correct or correct in any way. Sounding like a schoolyard bully he came up with nicknames for his most heated opponents. And while some were offended for whatever reason – usually political correctness.

Then I started some soul searching. Why did I hate Donald Trump so much for so long? Then it hit me. I was jealous. I admit it. Like I said, when I was in college I had ENIGMA
