Cyber Crime: Extortion In these tough economic times especially for our seniors it really comes as no surprise that the unscrupulous will always find a way to deceive, steal, and extort as much money they can get from the unsuspecting individual. Webster defines extortion as the crime of obtaining money or property by threat to a victim's property, a loved one, intimidation, and a false claim of a right. Most states define extortion as the gaining of another individuals property or money by almost any means. Whether it is actual violent assault, threat of physical harm, intimidation or out right theft by deception are all crimes. Today, the deception in extortion comes mostly through cyber thefts. Take the case of one Sandy Homes, a 66 year old single mother of two grown children living entirely on her Social Security monthly payments. Tuesday, was just one of those days where Murphy's Law took effect. For Sandy the day started out uneventful enough stopping at the local coffee shop where she purchased a bagel and coffee. There she used her debit card and everything seemed fine. It wasn't until she was ready to check out of the neighborhood Wal-Mart that Murphy's Law took hold. After her groceries were already loaded into her cart Sandy took out her Debit card punched in her pin only to have the transaction being denied. After a brief moment of panic she again swiped her debit card only this time instead of punching in her pin number she switched it to a credit card no pin required. To her immediate delight and all those impatient crowds waiting behind her the credit card was accepted. The total bill came to $83.64
Security payments loaded onto the debit card from Social Security instead of a direct deposit at her local bank where she had an account little did she know that this debit card was filled with unknown variables. As it turns out these debit cards from Social Security are really no better than those prepaid cards and instant direct cards that we see so often advertised on TV. When Sandy's pin wasn't accepted at Wal-Mart after just using it an hour earlier her intuition knew something was amiss. After she got home and the groceries were put away she called the number on the back of the card. Customer service told her she had a negative balance. That set off an immediate response as to why a negative balance when it is just her Social Security that is loaded onto her debit card and it is not linked to any other bank account. Now getting a little frustrated because all the service rep told Sandy there was a negative balance of over $1,000 when Sandy started out that morning she checked her balance it stated a balance left on her account was $181.54. Her next Social Security deposit wasn't scheduled until next week where a deposit of $1,289 will be issued.
pay another $50 charge if the bank can't locate who and where that initial $998 charge went. So now Sandy is left with knowing that bank is not a very secure financial institution for she has to fill out a police report that her account was hacked and the threat of renewed thefts into her account is now more than likely. Two days later Sandy got a new her new debit card where the next weeks Social Security deposit will be available. She is going to take that money once it is deposited into her card and open a bank account at a major financial institution where there is a clear understanding of just what the banks responsibilities are and having a record of where and who of each transaction recorded so that there will be very little space for an individual to hack into Sandy's financial records and account. A lesson learned the hard way. But for all you seniors who want to use debit cards for your Social Security deposits beware of the case of one Sandy Homes for what happened to her it could very well happen to you. The best way to prevent a case like Sandy's is to use a reputable financial institution. One that you already have had a successful relationship with and open an account
Sandy was now in full anger mode when the service rep couldn't identify the transaction that made her balance go negative and why the bank let the overdraft go through in the first place. Normally banks keep records of all transactions as to what amount is being charged and who is the recipient of that charge. Apparently that is not the case with this debit card. All the service rep told Sandy that a charge of $998 went through some time that morning and where it On the way home questions kept went was any bodies guess. running through conscious thought. where your Social Security allotments are deposited. And, use their bank card as a debit. Another safety tip to ensure financial security have one major credit card either from that same financial institution or from another reputable source like American Express. Maybe, if Sandy had reopened here account at more secure bank the money taken from her account would not have happened. It is always best to check and recheck you account information each and every day for all it takes is just an unscrupulous individual a few seconds to tap into accounts and wreck havoc on your financial security. Cyber Security today is one of the fastest growing businesses around. It is too bad for the Sandy Homes out there to find out that those debit cards from Social Security are really not as reputable as they claim. That old slogan only you can prevent cyber thefts from devastating your financial security is very true. Prevention by education and checking your transactions every day is one of the best ways to mitigate the chances of having some unscrupulous individual violate your financial well being.

Reacting to Paris Friday the 13th will never be the same for the citizens of Paris. On thenight many of us associate with bad luck and bad horror movies, a series of coordinated terrorist attacks in the French capital shook the country to its core. Three suicide bombers detonated their deadly payloads outside the Stade de France in the middle of an international “friendly” soccer match between France and Germany. Gunmen and a suicide bomber attacked four other street locations in the city. But the deadliest attack was at the Bataclan Theatre, where 89 of the 129 fatalities (thus far…80 of those injured have been listed as “critical”) occurred after several terrorists armed with AK-47 Kalashnikov assault rifles opened fire on concert-goers

the United Nations. If they pass that hurdle, they are screened by outposts of the Department of State around the world. Their biographies and identities are investigated. The FBI conducts biometric checks of their fingerprints and photographs. They are interviewed in person by Department of Homeland Security officers and investigated by the National Terrorism Center and other American and international intelligence agencies. The whole process can take as long as three years, sometimes longer. It’s safe to say that no other persons entering the U.S. are subjected to as much scrutiny…
…While I can understand those gut-level fears, the facts on immigration from Muslim countries don’t support such a knee-jerk reaction. The Economist reports that, of the 750,000 refugees who have taken up residence in the U.S. since 9/11, none has been arrested on charges of domestic terrorism. None. Refusing asylum to Syrian refugees who have been extensively vetted would be a symbolic gesture at best… …So how do we fight ISIS? First off, we need to develop much better intelligence sources in Syria, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, and other terrorist hotbeds. Who better to recruit as intelligence assets than refugees who have escaped from ISIL-held territories? Airstrikes are only marginally effective against a group that has no national borders and can move easily throughout the Middle East…

…The U.S. and France may have an unlikely ally in the fight, however. Last Tuesday, Russian president Vladimir Putin officially confirmed that a small bomb took down a Russian passenger plane traveling from Egypt to St. Petersburg, killing all 224 on board. Putin is a destabilizing force in world events, but having Russia on our side in the fight against ISIL could be a game-changer. As the old proverb goes, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” The ISIL attack on that Russian airliner might be enough to get Putin to stop using his military to help prop up Syrian president Bashar al-Assad and start fighting ISIL…

TORONTO - As U.S. universities Yale and Missouri deal with internal social justice and free speech issues, a Canadian university is implementing new rules to prevent the stifling of controversial or unpopular opinions. John Harris, founder of the Harris Institute in Toronto, has drafted a new set of rules, effective for the Spring semester, in response to complaints about use of language and topics being discussed in the classroom. Students and faculty will be required to agree and comply to “Rules of Civility,” one of which threatens probation and even dis-
missal, for anyone found to have “shouted down an opposing view.” Harris told Metro News that he and administrators agree that there is no room for avoiding touchy subjects at the university, known for its courses in music production and management. “We’ve got courses that talk about hip-hop culture and rap culture and for some people those are sensitive areas in terms of racism, sexism, et cetera,” he said. “In the end, the decision to approve the policy was unanimous.” Harris cites backlash against an on-campus speech from punk rock drummer Martin Atkins, who he admittedly described as “outspoken,” and a trend of over 290 guest speeches that were can-

celled across Europe and North America as signs that political correctness has gone to far. “You shouldn’t have limits on what can be discussed,” he told Metro News. “It’s undermining what a lot of people, including me, feel is the essence of post-secondary education.” NASHVILLE - Used-car website Carvana added an alternative pickup method for their customers, building the world’s first coinoperated car vending machine. The company first came up with the idea for a car vending machine in 2013 and on Friday the five-story structure opened in Nashville. The vending machine is fully-automat-

ed and can hold up to 20 cars at a time. It also features a slot for a giant coin and a robotic arm that picks up the car and places it in a delivery bay for the customer. “The experience itself is exactly a vending machine experience,” Caravan founder and CEO, Ernie Garcia told The Verge. “The customer even gets a customized, oversized coin that they drop into a slot.” When customers arrive to pick up their online order they drop the coin into the slot and pick up the car from the delivery bay. They then have the opportunity to inspect and test drive the car and, unlike traditional vending machines, the
transaction is not final until the customer drives the car off of the lot. The company hopes to open additional vending machines in the future, but for now they are offering $200 toward airfare and “white glove” chauffeur service for any customers willing to make the trip. RAINBOW VALLEY, AZ - 53-year-old Paul Rater took his 5-year-old granddaughter for a ride in his truck. It was a generational bonding experience. That is until the truck got stuck. Rater did not have his cell phone with him, but being proactive about such little inconveniences he set out across the desert on foot with his granddaughter in tow to find help. Rater later said that the girl became too tired to continue walking, so he left her under a tree. Now before you become all shocked and scandalized that a man would leave his own 5-year-old granddaughter alone in the desert, you should know that he left her a loaded .45 caliber handgun. For snakes and coyotes and such. When he finally found a bar, Rater decided to get something to eat and drink as he was hungry and dehydrated. He then called his wife to let her know that he left the girl in the desert. The family called police, who used a helicopter to search for the child. Meanwhile, a family member found the girl alone with the .45. Rater was later located still at the bar and arrested. He has been charged with two counts of child abuse and one count of child endangerment. PATASKALA, Ohio - Authorities in Ohio said an 8-year-old girl was found in a bathroom attempting to smoke marijuana in an inefficient way — by lighting a plastic baggie on fire. The Pataskala Police Department said the 8-year-old Pataskala Elementary School student was caught by a school employee Nov. 4 trying to ignite the marijuana in the girls’ bathroom. “The good thing is she didn’t know how to [smoke the marijuana],” Police Chief Bruce Brooks told The Newark Advocate. “She lit the [plastic] baggie.” The student attempted to flush some of the marijuana down a toilet and threw the rest in a trash can, where it was recovered, police said. The student was suspended. Southwest Licking Local Schools Superintendent Robert Jennell said confidentiality laws bar the district from discussing the student’s punishment. “Obviously, though, we take the tone in the district that [school] is not the place for drugs,” Jennell
said. “We certainly want to make sure we reach out to all the organizations we can to give this student all the help possible.” The superintendent said the incident is being taken “very, very seriously.” WSYXTV quoted a family member as saying the girl was initially suspended for 10 days, but the punishment was reduced to three. The family member said school administrators are reviewing school bus security camera footage in an attempt to identify how the student obtained the drugs. MOSTARDAS, Brazil - A 1-year-old Brazilian boy saved himself from a potentially venomous snake by killing it with a bite of his own, the toddler’s parents said. Jaine Ferreira said she went to check on her son, Lorenzo, when he was unusually quiet earlier this month at their home in Mostardas and she discovered the toddler holding a snake in his mouth with blood on his hands and face. Ferreira told G1 her family’s home is in an urban area where she has never spotted snakes before. The mother said the child was treating the snake as if it was one of his toys and she needed help from the boy’s father to wrestle the reptile out of his jaws. Doctors examined the boy and found no signs that he had been bitten by the snake, which they said he killed by biting down close to the animal’s head. The doctors identified the snake as a venomous pit viper, but experts viewing photos of the expired reptile said it may have been a non-venomous water snake. The Snake Bite Initiative estimates there are 540 to 2,298 deaths each year from snake bites across Latin America. WASHINGTON DC - Police in Washington D.C., released a video of two women sexually assaulting a man in a convenience store. The surveillance video, which was released by police, shows one woman in a tight fitted dress twerking while rubbing her body against the man. The second woman, who was wearing a short red dress, is seen grabbing the man’s private parts several times before attempting to grab the man’s cell phone and money while he was distracted. The man, who was on his phone at the time, managed to get away from the women unharmed. Both women are facing charges of third-degree sexual abuse. If convicted, the women face up to 10 years in prison or a fine of $100,000.

applying for a bank loan, if it is crucial that you get one, there are some tips you can follow or employ to make sure that your application does not get rejected. Below are some useful tips on how to have your bank loan approved: Be ready to share to all of your true financial information. Don't try to hide any financial information from your bank; more often than not, they'll get all the details anyway. A bank will always verify all information you have provided in your application sheet. During the application process, the bank will call you to verify all your personal data. The more personal and financial details you provide, the easier it will be for your loan officer to get your loan approved. Maintain a savings account. Whether you need the loan for a particular purpose or for emergency reasons, setting up a savings account is always a good start. Make sure that you contribute regularly into it. When you do this, you are proving that you are capable of managing your loan repayments.
Set your sights on a realistic loan principal. Apply for a loan amount that is realistic based on your monthly cash flow. Your chosen commercial bank will check your current standing from all the documents you are going to send them anyway so it wouldn't make sense for you to apply for a large amount that is incongruent to your present financial status. The bank can grant you the loan but possibly lower than what you wanted if they think you cannot repay it. The bank can even decline your application if you are aiming for a big loan amount. Maintain a good credit history. Lastly, your credit history will be the solid proof of your repayment behavior and practices. A good credit history will give you nothing but benefits even if you think you are not getting a loan now or you think you would not require one in the future. Unpaid loans, bounced checks, credit card payment delinquency, and dishonest loan purpose, among others, are red flags that could ruin your application process.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/9212003 Rousey is very easy on the eyes. Yes, she is quite pretty. I admit it. But that has nothing to do with it… well maybe a little. While the former champ is very attractive, she comes across as articulate despite dropping out of high school (she did obtain her G.E.D.), a good sport with her interviewers and quite candid. Unlike most fighters and pro and collegiate athletes who rarely speak in complete sentences Rousey can carry on a conversation and despite her becoming the centerpiece of UFC she never beat her chest literally or figuratively proclaiming herself the greatest – like Muhammad Ali (who in my opinion wasn’t). Unlike other fighters and athletes that garner the national spotlight Rousey is pop culturally aware and can speak on a number of subjects and has a sense of humor and for the most part is relatively humble

It is usually her interviewer that keeps mentioning that she is (or was) the champ. Rousey compared to most pro athletes is well rounded as not only is she an MMA fighter she also is a model and actress (the perfect woman for many a red-blooded American male). Her actual appearance of course did catch my eye and attention but it was also he way she carried herself that kept me interested. There are plenty of beautiful women out there but a lot of empty heads as well. Looks fade, personality rarely does. The past six months we have been inundated with everything Ronda including Hardees/Carl Jr. commercials that seem to run non-stop (until recently ironically enough) to a public verbal sparring with heavyweight boxing champ Floyd

The Bitter Ingredients Behind Supertramp's Delicious Album Breakfast in America Popular music has had several phenomenal songwriting partners, though none of them are quite as well-known as the tandem of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Most of them, like the main combination behind many of the greatest songs by The Beatles, end up splitting because of built-up tension. It happened to Johnny Marr and Steven Morrissey of the Smiths at the end of the eighties, and the two have been estranged ever since. Although Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook did eventually reunite, the two slain composers in Squeeze spent several years at odds.

Just Another Nervous Wreck Davies simply says, "I'm feeling so alone now," which is yet another plea for a split from his collaborator. Casual Conversations Here Davies points out his frustration with Hodgson, claiming that "It doesn't matter what I say, You never listen anyway, Just don't know what you're looking for."
In most cases, the friction between the song rewriting team cannot be readily detected from the songs themselves. The Let It Be album's "Two of Us" did give us some insight that The Beatles leaders were finished with one another, but the sweet nostalgia of the lyrics hardly indicate bitterness.
Child of Vision The last track on Breakfast in America begins with the most pointed message, when Hodgson asks, "Well who do you think you're fooling? You say you're having fun, but you're busy going nowhere."
