A World Gone Mad It's been proven time and again that we feel more compassion toward an individual than we do toward a group of people. But, now we're looking at a slightly different dynamic. Why are we feeling more compassionate toward a homeless man who plays the piano brilliantly than we are toward a 90-year-old man who has been arrested three times for feeding the homeless? In both cases, the plight of the homeless is the center of the controversy. Yes, this particular homeless pianist has gone through hell and back but he is still homeless, although that's about to change with the gofundme campaign in this man's name with a monetary goal of $50,000 to buy him a home, a car, and tuition for the three classes he needs to complete his music theory degree. I feel deeply compassionate for this man but not more so than I feel for the hundreds of hungry, homeless people who gather on a Fort Lauderdale beach every Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. to be fed by a 90-yearold man, who does not solicit donations from anyone, and whose only crime is trying to eliminate hunger in his community.
speeches about helping the needy and then enact laws to penalize these same people for being needy? This is definitely a world gone mad when we can punish our neighbors for sleeping in
It's strange to see people rush to the aid of people who have been hit by a natural disaster, or those whose homes have burned down, or children who are sick and dying and would like one last thing before they die, and then see these same people making it a crime to feed the homeless or even to be homeless. Some cities have gone so far as making it a crime for homeless people to sleep in their car or in the streets. One city even makes it a crime to smell bad on city property. And, yeah, homeless people might smell bad if they don't have access to showers and washing machines and the clothing on their back is the only clothing they own. In many cities, it's illegal to sit or lie on sidewalks, to dig through trash cans, to feed the homeless without written permission, to sleep in public, to ask for help, not just for money, and some cities even have a hotline to report homeless people who ask for money on city property. Where are these do-gooders who make speeches about eliminating poverty but then make it a crime to be impoverished? Where are the politicians who make impassioned ENIGMA

The Gun Thing Will the execution of 24-yearold reporter Alison Parker and 27-year-old videographer Andy Ward on live television finally prompt a serious bipartisan discussion on gun control? It will if Andy Parker has anything to say about it. The father of the slain video journalist has been an outspoken advocate for gun control since his daughter was murdered in cold blood… …I’d like to think that Mr. Parker and others will be able to get our politicians to at least admit that we have to do a better job of protecting our citizens from gun violence. But we’ve had horrific shootings before. Columbine.
Aurora. Sandy Hook. Chattanooga. And many more. There is usually a bump in gun control rhetoric after a high-profile gun-related homicide. But then The National Rifle Association and its lobbyists step in to remind our lawmakers just how much cash they’ve splashed on various political campaigns. The chatter fades… and the U.S. goes back to business as usual on the gun thing…
1990s when total homicide rates peaked in the U.S. But nearly all of that decrease occurred in the late 1990s. We’ve made relatively little progress since then and our firearm homicide rate is nearly 20 times as high that of the average high-income country…
…Two of the biggest “arguments” against additional gun control legislation can’t really be argued against… and are totally irrelevant. …Firearms are used in about First there’s the “criminals 31,000 deaths per year here in the U.S. About 11,000 of those deaths are homicides. Firearm homicide rates are about half as high now as they were in the early

can always get guns illegally” argument. Of course they can. They’re criminals. They do illegal stuff. But police departments in major cities say that the underground market for firearms isn’t what it used to be. There are quicker, safer ways to make illegal income without getting into the gun racket… …Others say that there are already so many guns in circulation that making it any harder for people to buy new (or used) ones won’t make
any difference. It is estimated that there are well over 310 million guns in the U.S. So how much will it help to make it a bit harder for people to buy firearms? That’s
…I’ve written about mass shootings and gun violence more times than I can count. We’ve somehow become numb to deadly shooting incidents. Our own community can bear witness to the transitory national interest in mass shootings. Chattanooga found itself in the national headlines after a lone shooter murdered four Marines and a Navy member back in July. But other incidents soon pushed our city off the front page. Chattanooga is still reeling from the horror that shook us all out of our illusions that “it can’t happen here,” but just it. We don’t know. So the rest of the country has what? …It’s time to at least discuss any options that can reduce gun violence in this country. We don’t need gun control as much as we need “human control.” Many mass shooters have some history of mental illness. But most of them haven’t had the specific diagnoses or shown the specific behaviors that would have prevented them from buying a gun legally. We have to do a better job of identifying those who pose an elevated risk to the rest of us. Mostly, we just have to do… something. Doing nothing about gun violence is evidence of collective mental illness…

COLUMBUS, Ohio - An Ohio group supporting marijuana legalization is under fire from critics who say the group’s new superhero mascot appeals to children. ResponsibleOhio, a group supporting the state’s Proposal 3 to legalize marijuana for adults over the age of 21, recently unveiled the superhero mascot, dubbed Buddie, with pictures on Facebook. Buddie features a green marijuana bud for a head and a superhero suit complete with a cape, six-pack abs, and a “B” logo over a picture of a marijuana leaf. Nick Lashutka, president of the Ohio Children’s
Hospital Association, accused the group of marketing marijuana to children. “I have four kids and if any of them were to see this, they would draw a conclusion that it’s OK,” Lashutka told Cleveland.com. Jen Detwiler, spokeswoman for rival group Ohioans Against Marijuana Monopolies, said Buddie was a poor choice of mascot. “ResponsibleOhio has placed a lot of emphasis on the 21 and over piece of their amendment but then comes out with a mascot styled after a superhero?” Detwiler said. “It’s a pretty shameless attempt to entice young people.” ResponsibleOhio spokeswoman Faith Oltman said Buddie will only visit college campuses as part of

morning when he came across a strange scene. A heavyset woman stood wrapped in a blanket, surrounded by medical personnel. Suddenly, the woman whipped the blanket off and threw it at the medics, revealing that she was completely naked, Knight said. Then she turned around and noticed Knight, still stopped and now shocked behind the wheel, about 50 feet away. “She walks directly to me,” he said. “She walks up the hood of my car and she begins stomping on my windshield, completely naked.” The woman, who Knight estimated to weigh about 250 pounds, cracked his windshield with the first stomp. She got a couple more in before plainclothes officers pulled her off and hand-cuffed her as she screamed, Knight said. Apparently the woman had stripped on a commuter train earlier in the morning for no good reason, and it was pure coincidence that Knight pulled up to that intersection at that exact moment. “They (the insurance company) didn’t really know what to make of it.” Knight said. BEIJING - Police in Beijing said a woman who wasn’t allowed to bring a bottle of expensive cognac on a plane chugged the entire bottle at airport security. Police said a woman identified by the surname Zhao had the bottle of Remy Martin XO Excellence cognac in her carryon luggage Friday at Beijing Capital International Airport when security workers told her the item would not be allowed on the plane. Zhao apparently decided to drink the entire bottle on the spot rather than allow it to go to waste, and police officers said they found her shouting and screaming on the floor at her boarding gate, unable to stand on her own. The woman was taken in a wheelchair to a room where she could rest after the captain of her Wenzhou-bound flight decided not to allow her on board, police said. Zhao, who police said had purchased the liquor for about $200 during a trip to the United States and was at the airport to transfer to a domestic flight, woke up a few hours later and thanked police for taking care of her. They said she was not detained or charged with any crime. TAIPEI, Taiwan - Security cameras at a Taiwan art exhibition captured the moment a 12-year-old tripped and punched a hole in a $1.5 million Paolo Porpora oil painting.
Organizers of the “Face of Leonardo: Images of a Genius” exhibition at Huashan 1914 Creative Park in Taipei released footage of the beverage-holding boy tripping next to the still life and putting his fist through the bottom of the canvas before freezing in apparent horror at his mistake. Sun Chihsuan, the exhibit’s organizer, said the boy’s family will not be charged for restoration costs and the $1.5 million painting, titled “Flowers,” was insured. “The painting’s bottom right is damaged,” Sun told reporters. “The boy’s hand made contact with the artwork and left a hole the size of a fist.” A post on the exhibition’s Facebook page thanked restoration specialist Tsai Shun-jen for helping to quickly restore the 350-year-old painting. The post included photos of the experts working to repair the canvas. DENVER, CO - There has been a lot of racial tension in the country lately, what with cops shooting minorities, minorities shooting cops, psychotics shooting minorities, minorities shooting other minorities, and rednecks harassing illegal aliens. People have understandably been getting a little touchy. But where does racism end and hypersensitivity begin? Let’s look at a recent case from Denver, Colorado. A restaurant is defending its image after a customer received a racially offensive message on her receipt. “I grabbed the check and I’m looking at it, and that’s the first thing that caught my eye, and I was like ‘whoa!’” Beatriz Castorena said. As she looked over her receipt, she noticed that below her food were the words, “you fucking Mexicans.” The woman and her husband flagged down their waitress to show her what was written on their receipt. “She grabbed it and she seen it and she was like, ‘oh how funny,’” Castorena recalled. “I was like, ‘that’s not funny.’” The couple paid their bill and left the restaurant. The next day Castorena said she returned to the restaurant for an explanation and an apology. The owner of the restaurant said he and his staff apologized for what happened and refunded their meal. Sure, it seems racist, but the fact is that Castorena and her husband were in a Mexican restaurant, owned by a MexicanAmerican and staffed by MexicanAmericans. The waitress, the cooks, the dish-washers; all Mexican. So the question: is it racist?

the incentive for crimes such as extortion or drug dealing, and that it serves as a useful deterrent as well as an instrument of justice. Fair enough; the same can be said of speeding fines. But we don't let highway patrolmen personally pocket the fines they generate. We shouldn't be letting localities keep most of those fines either, if we want law enforcement to focus on public safety rather than revenue generation. We have even stronger reason to deny law enforcement agencies the direct fruits of their forfeiture efforts. But that is exactly what is happening in many places, forfeiture's crit-
ics are quick to point out. Some of this is by design. Under the Justice Department's "equitable sharing" program, local law enforcement can keep up to 80 percent of revenue generated by forfeiture cases that they refer to the federal government. (Most forfeiture happens under federal law, though many states have established their own programs.) And while a warrant for a seizure is generally required, if an officer has probable cause to believe the property is subject to forfeiture, that requirement can sometimes be waived.
budget to come from forfeiture revenue. (1) And in places where local rules about forfeiture are stricter than federal rules, such as California, some agencies are said to use federal law for seizures specifically to bolster their budgets. By allowing law enforcement agencies to fold revenue from forfeiture into their own budgets, we have directly encouraged officers to interpret "probable cause" as broadly as possible without running afoul of the Fourth Amendment. As Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said at a Judiciary Committee hearing, "the process creates perverse incentives." (2) And this is before we even mention the allegations of outright abuse, which have also been leveled at some agencies.
Through the equitable sharing program, proceeds from seizures may be used for overtime officer pay, training, building construction and improvements, and equipment. In Texas, the Journal reported, Even if the benefits of civil forit isn't uncommon for a third feiture outweigh the drawor more of a district attorney's backs - a question upon which

reasonable people can disagree - we should not funnel the proceeds back to law enforcement agencies themselves. The same crime-fighting purposes are served if assets seized through forfeiture are devoted to general government purposes. Even better, they could be dedicated to reducing government debt, which would avoid giving the public sector another tool to bloat itself at the expense of the general population. Either way, we would greatly cut down the incentive of law enforcers to target cash and other valuable property merely because they covet it.
forfeiture. A cop who reaches into a vehicle, pops the trunk and finds a bag of cash may have a strong professional incentive to say he actually just saw the bag in the back seat, with money spilling out, in order to justify a warrantless arrest and seizure. And this presupposes the cop is honest enough not to just pocket that cash himself. If law enforcement wants to argue the merits of seizure, fine. But let's keep law enforcement honest by taking away the incentives for dishonesty. Besides procedural safeguards to ensure fairness, law enforcement should be financially indifferent to the consequences of its actions. This will put the brakes on the confiscation lobby.
Most officers tell the truth most of the time, but there will always be those who fudge or lie. Almost any front-line cop is subject to direct or indirect pressure to meet targets for - Larry M. Elkin "collars," tickets, fines - and

Life Is Not About Money Money Just Gives You Choices Poor people think they can do what they want, but that is not true. They are limited by their poverty. Rich people can choose to do what they want. For example, poor people have to travel by public bus. Rich people can go in a car or on a jet, or they can go by bus, they have the choice. That is what money is for, to give you choices. Money is not a thing in itself, you need to watch yourself and not be so focused on money. You may be surprised to find that poor people who say they do not need or care about money are far more fixated on money than rich people, and this is a very important key to success. What frustrates me in my work of trying to help people improve the quality of their life, and their character, is that they generally think that paying for my time, or anyone who is helping them in the direction of improving their life, is about money. You have to get past this idea that knowledge can be bought. Money has nothing to do with it. To say thank you immediately when someone does something for you, to consider and respect everyone, to appreciate what you get and show that appreciation, this is what matters. But it must be a sincere thanks, meaning it must have a value of some sort.
If someone gave you a few beans that could change your life, and you did not plant them, then Jack, you disrespected the gift and giver. Appreciation and gratitude is to plant those beans and climb the beanstalk, and find your treasure. That is the best payment, make use of the gift and then with your riches, give back to those in need of the same help you needed. This is playing your part in the evolution of humanity.
ful people have more things to do than they have time to spare. Sincere appreciation and sincere effort in making use of the gift of knowledge or other help you have been given.
How To Cultivate Sincerity
Think about this and think about money in relation to this. Maybe you will get closer to the understanding about what money is that makes the difference between a rich and poor person. It is the different understanding about money What I want you to get in your that allows a person to have it head is that payment with in abundance. money or gifts may be a way of showing appreciation but Money is not a thing in itself. money is not the point, gifts Money is merely the gas in the are not the point. What matters is sincere appreciation and respect. Money allows you to give something to show your appreciation. It is very limited but often the only way we can do something to show our thanks. The gift or payment is not enough, it is empty in itself. To give a gift to a rich person is not going to change his life like giving food to starving people. But the rich person has more to give you in way of knowledge and information and guidance that can help you raise your level in life more than someone in total poverty, at least as a general rule this holds true. So what can a rich person value that you can give which makes him feel you are worthy of his time? After all, successENIGMA

One of our students read this and asked a very good question; 'how can she become sincere.' She knows that she does things to show gratitude but it is lacking sincerity and she wants to get that depth of character. This is a key factor that I will work on an exercise and detail explanation about.

Falcons Still Have A Lot of Questions to Answer After two weeks looking like a fine oiled machine the Atlanta Falcons’ offense sputtered and stalled and quarterback Matt Ryan was batted around like a piñata before first year head coach Dan Quinn called off the assault and let T.J. Yates take over as the Falcons fell to the Miami Dolphins 13-9.
The defense has continued to show improvement as they only allowed RyanTannenhill and the Dolphins one touchdown.
Granted, Ryan had none of his targets as Julio Jones and Roddy White sat out, but a still makeshift offensive line made for a long night for the Falcons. Add to that no running game and 2015 has the potential to be a long season.
Neither team was efficient on third down or on the ground as the two teams combined for a total of 124 yards on the ground. The big difference being the Dolphins managed almost an yard more per rush.
