SECTION ABOUTTITLE
CHEROKEE RECREATION & PARKS
The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Cherokee Recreation & Parks Agency (CRPA) achieved national accreditation in May 2021. As part of the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) process, CRPA created, approved, and implemented the following: • A Standard Operations Procedures Manual covering 50+ new or amended policies or procedures •
A Park Maintenance Manual for all 23 parks and facilities
•
Adopted a new strategic plan for the next five years
• Trained staff in areas such as de-escalation tactics, developing and evaluating programs, using social media, and reducing risk in agency programs and facilities
OUR We seek a future where the full power of parks and recreation is widely recognized for creating a better life for everyone by building strong, healthy, and resilient communities. We advance this vision by investing in and championing the profession as a catalyst of positive change for equity, climate readiness, and overall well-being.
CRPA officially passed 149 out of 154 CAPRA standards, becoming the eleventh accredited agency in Georgia. Eleven full-time employees at CRPA are Certified Parks and Recreation Professionals (CPRP). CRPA is proud to be a Better Sports for Kids Quality Program Provider. This prestigious designation recognizes organizations that have met an equally high standard when administering youth sports programming. Earning the designation means that the agency has taken the necessary steps to ensure a safe, quality playing environment for children.
