Swim Teams Swim Lessons The Aquatic Center is the home to the Pelicans Summer Swim Team, the Pelicans USA Club Swim Team, and the Pelicans Developmental Swim Team. Each team provides a fun and safe environment for young swimmers. Tryouts are required for each group—see below for minimum qualifications.

SPLASH PARTY PACKAGE The Splash Party Package accommodates up to twenty party guests* and includes two hours of pool time. Package Price: $100 ($5 per additional guest*)

OASIS PARTY PACKAGE The Oasis Party Package accommodates up to twenty party guests* and includes three hours of fun and activity. The first hour is spent in the pool. During the second hour guests roam between the pool and the pavilion/party room. The third hour brings the party-goers inside the pavilion/party room to eat cake, sip drinks, and enjoy time with the guest of honor. The Oasis Package includes a party cake and drinks, as well as disposable plates, cups, napkins, and utensils. Package Price: $270 ($7 per additional guest*)

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding classes are designed to teach you the basics in water safety and the proper protocol when dealing with any emergency in and around water. The Red Cross blends both traditional lecture style along with crucial hands-on training in order to teach you effective techniques to deliver prompt care to those in need. This Red Cross course will teach you to respond safely and efficiently to water emergencies. Students passing this class successfully will be lifeguard certified. BABYSITTING + PEDIATRIC CPR CLASSES CPR / AED / FIRST AID CLASSES When you take a first aid class from the American Red Cross, you’ll gain the necessary skills to help others during times of crisis. Designed to last just a few short hours, our first aid classes will help you recognize the signs that someone needs help and administer the right type of care.

Blended Learning: Featuring award-winning

simulation learning, our blended learning programs combine self-paced, interactive instruction and in-person skills sessions. This Blended Learning Course allows you to learn on your schedule, then demonstrate your skills to a certified instructor. Prerequisites: X This award-winning Blended Learning Course requires an online component of the course be completed prior to the first day of class. Cherokee County Aquatic Center

The course provides aspiring babysitters with the knowledge and skill set necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. This training helps participants develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business; keep themselves and others safe; help children behave; and learn the basics of childcare and first aid. This course will also certify participants who meet the requirements in pediatric first aid and CPR. Students must be between the ages of eleven and fifteen. In a fun and colorful atmosphere, two-year-old toddlers learn basic coordination skills associated with soccer, t-ball, football, and basketball. This interactive, twelve-week course is led by instructor Michelle Russo. TinyTykes is not a parent participation class.

It’s no secret; young toddlers love to sing and wiggle along to music. Music helps spark curiosity in youngsters and broadens their language, social, and emotional skills. Baby and Me Music classes explore singing and rhythm exercises that engage sensory stimulation, develop motor skills, and provide a unique bonding opportunity. Join us as we sing, dance, and explore the world of music together. This program is made possible by FineArtsMatters.

THERAPEUTIC RECREATION

Therapeutic Recreation Programs are designed to increase independence and improve quality of life through

recreation and leisure for anyone with special needs. We also encourage you and your family to participate in every program CRPA has to offer as our programs are designed for nearly all ages and abilities. Explore beyond the Therapeutic Recreation Programs. Prerequisite: The following programs require a therapeutic recreation assessment prior to registration. LEISURE SPECTRUM Would you like to socialize with friends or spend a night on the town away from your parents? Leisure Spectrum is an allinclusive six-week program that involves weekly field trips into the community. Activities may include bowling, laser tag, movies, art, music, or shopping. REGISTRATION OPENS August 3, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. (for most programs)

Registration takes place at the following locations: Recreation Center | Aquatic Center | PlayCherokee.org General Information X Registration is available online or in-person at the Recreation Center or the Aquatic Center. X Cash, credit cards, debit cards, and checks are welcome forms of payment. X ALL debit/credit card purchases will incur a small transaction fee. X Returned checks are subject to a $35 fee.

Cancellation Policy X All classes falling short of minimum enrollment will be postponed or canceled. X In the event of class cancellation on the part of CRPA, all registered students will receive a notification. Class cancellations may be due to low enrollment, inclement weather, or instructor unavailability. X Full refunds granted upon class cancellation by CRPA. X Programs, events, and classes missed due to personal reasons will not be refunded. Neither will such absences be granted make-up opportunities.

Scholarship Program

A family or individual may apply for a scholarship one time per the calendar year (January 1–December 31, 2020). Some restrictions DO apply. Applications must be received ten (10) business days before the end registration date. Call 770-924-7768 for details and applications.

Credit/Refund Information X All refund/credit requests must be completed in person during regular business hours and at least five (5) working days prior to the beginning date of the program. X Refund/credit requests must be in writing and are subject to approval by the Cherokee Recreation & Parks Agency staff. X Refunds make take up to thirty (30) days for processing. There are no cash refunds. X Participants requesting a refund will incur a $5 administrative fee. X Transaction fees will not be refunded. X Credit agreements will not incur a $5 administrative fee. Open Gym The Recreation Center gymnasium is available for open-play when scheduled programs and rentals are not occupying the facility. Call before you visit to request open gym hours. The fees for utilizing the open gym are $2 per day for people thirteen (13) years of age and older and $1 per day for children twelve (12) years of age and younger.

Advisory Board A Recreation Advisory Board has been appointed by the Board of Commissioners to act as a guide for CRPA planning and implementation of public recreational activities and programs as well as offering advice on a system of parks and facilities that will accommodate the needs of the public. Board members’ terms run concurrently with appointing Board of Commissioners.

Photography and Video Policy On occasion, CRPA may photograph or videotape registrants, participants, and spectators in Agency programs, special events, or facilities. Such photographs are for Agency use only. Agency reserves the right to print and publish said pictures and videos in publications, brochures, pamphlets, fliers, websites, or video productions.
