COMMUNITY ED CLASSES ART & MUSIC Ceramics Working in stoneware and porcelain clay through slab hand building and wheel throwing. Includes kiln loading and glaze calculation and mixing. Community Choir

Performance class culminating in a concert at the end of the semester. Repertoire ranges from classical to standards to broadway to contemporary. Full ensemble as well as smaller ensembles and solos. Previous choral experience and/or reading music is a plus, but not required. Music is provided and is generally rated at intermediate level. Partial scholarships may be available. Freestyle Painting An opportunity to paint with others and hone your skills in a supportive environment. Oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels – whatever your choice. No instruction but lots of camaraderie. Other artists in the class are happy to provide suggestions and critiques if asked. Flexible hours. Bring a lunch and come for the full five hours or just stay for a two or three, in the morning or afternoon. CompuClinic CompuClinic is a place you can go to when you need computer help. It isn’t really a class, and there are no organized lessons. It is simply somewhere to go when you have a question or two (or more!) about computers that you need answered. Feel free to stop by even if you don’t have questions, because you just might learn something by listening in on how others fixed their problems! Fort Stanton Established in 1855, Fort Stanton may be one of the most intact 19th-century military forts in the country and is the best-preserved fort in New Mexico. Found just outside the town of Lincoln and surrounded by the Lincoln National Forest, the 240-acre site is best known for its roles in the Indian Wars and the Civil War. Lunch TBA. April 21, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Billy the Kid Tour The village of Lincoln, New Mexico, is a community frozen in time. Lincoln Historic Site preserves numerous historical buildings much as they were during one of the most violent periods of New Mexico history. President Rutherford B. Hayes called Lincoln’s main street “the most dangerous street in America.” In this quiet one-street village, New Mexico History Tours participants can stroll in the footsteps of Sheriff Pat Garrett, Billy the Kid, and other famous and infamous characters involved in the Lincoln County War, 1878-1881. Includes lunch at the famous Dolan House. May 19, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

HISTORICAL ADVENTURES WITH ENMU-RUIDOSO Make history come alive with Living History Tours in historic Lincoln County! Jack Shuster is degreed in History with a field of interest in Social and Cultural History of the American People. A Living Historian and Reenactor, Jack will take you back in history to the first residents of the area and how they lived and bring you through history to the present day. All tours include tour guide, transportation from ENMU-Ruidoso, entry fees to sites and lunch. Each tour is $100 per person, limited seating available.

HOME & GARDEN Rainwater Harvesting/Management System Design The course will cover steps in reducing treated water use, design, installation and use various rainwater harvesting and gray water usage systems for businesses and residences, and development of a rainfall and gray water usage plan for your property. The course will also review of existing rainwater regulations, introduce drip irrigation ‘black water’ systems; and answer your questions. Numerous

The Missions of the Hondo Valley A tour, of the Roman Catholic Missions formed in the 1800s to serve rural communities in the Ruidoso and Hondo River Valleys of New Mexico. These will include missions that stretch from San Ysidro in Glencoe to San Jose in Picacho, all rich in paintings, hand carved Santos and more. Some interesting graveyards, too. Some of these missions lasted longer that others but as times changed and transportation by automobile eclipsed horses and wagon, they were all merged into Saint Jude Thaddeus Mission in San Patricio in 1967. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Alcohol Server The New Mexico Liquor Control Act Mandates that every liquor license, lessee or server who manages, directs or controls the sale or service of alcohol for consumption on or off the license premises must satisfactorily complete an alcohol server program every five years. Our class provides all the state required training and covers all state laws and regulations concerning the sale and service of alcohol, liquor liability issues and driving under the influence of alcohol. Participants must be at least 19 years old and have valid photo validation. The first part of this workshop (1-2 p.m.) will teach you how to “claim your business listing� on Google Places so that your business will show up on Google searches and maps. The second part of the workshop (2-4 p.m.) will focus on Facebook. Learn how to create a business fan page and how to use Facebook as a marketing tool to increase business and sales. Both of these methods are free or low cost. Attend one or both sessions. Starting Your Business Workshop Do you have a business idea? Would you like to explore the feasibility of turning your idea into a profitable business? If so, this free workshop is designed to give you the tools you need to start a business legally and profitably. You will explore how an idea comes to fruition, why some businesses succeed and some fail, and how planning helps lead to business success. This workshop will help you examine your business ownership potential, area facts and figures, and pre-business decisions as well as basic marketing and financial planning. Self-Defense for Women This 30-hour selfdefense program was developed for women. You will learn: How to avoid assault; identify and use their body weapons; breakaways from control holds; take-downs using wrist drags; how to punch and kick. THEATER ARTS Improvisation Level 1 This is a course of play and fun with the benefit of making you more proficient at thinking on your feet, group interaction and conversation. Whether you want to explore being on stage or just improve your presentation or social skills you will be encouraged and challenged. We will focus on the core principles developed for both comedy and acting improvisation. Play games and do exercises designed to develop the analytical side of your brain to focus on simple goals while opening your creative side to new possibilities.
