About CNCF “We plant trees for our planet. Together we can reduce our carbon footprint, restore the landscape, and revive the biodiversity of the Australian native land.” Carbon Neutral Charitable Fund (CNCF) helps individuals, families and organisations to minimise their impact on the environment.

to assist companies in becoming more environmentally responsible and manage their carbon emissions, two new entities were born.

CNCF uses the funds raised through donations and carbon offsets to plant native trees on degraded land in Australia. Our reforestation projects sequester carbon whilst helping to restore the landscape and conserve the natural biodiversity.

Carbon Neutral - a ‘profit for purpose’ organisation, offers a range of carbon and environmental consulting services and products to business and corporates.

We started as a nonprofit organisation known as Carbon Neutral in 2001. Based on a concept initiated by Men of the Trees to use the emerging carbon market to plant even more trees, our charity restores unused and degraded land back to natural habitat. In 2013, responding to a fast growing need for corporate advisory services

CNCF continues as a not-for-profit, working with the community to reduce and offset carbon emissions. Research, education and tree plantings are our motivation, as is restoring our wonderful natural bushland.

Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Reforestation Project Providing essential habitat for the for the endangered black cockatoo The Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Reforestation Project involves the restoration of a 38 hectare site of black cockatoo habitat within Banyowla Conservation Park in the Perth foothills. The project will focus on native plant species known to be important to the feeding, breeding and roosting cycles of the three endangered/ threatened black cockatoo species unique to the southwest corner of WA. By reforesting an old orchard and grazing property in Banyowla Regional Park the project also enhances local flora and fauna, and forms an important carbon sink. A critical time for black cockatoo conservation, this iconic Australian bird’s population numbers have seen a 50% decline in the last 45 years. Most of their habitat in the southwest suitable for breeding and foraging has been cleared entirely or fragmented. Black cockatoos migrate annually between the Wheatbelt, where they breed in tree hollows during the spring, and the Swan Coastal Plain which is the “nursery” area for the young birds in their first year summer/autumn. But much of their habitat in the Swan Coastal Plain has been destroyed and over 90% of bushland in the Wheatbelt has been cleared. This project is unique because it is located on the very edge of the Swan Coastal Plain – a key habitat area for all three threatened species of black cockatoo endemic to the southwest of WA the Endangered (Carnabys and Baudins) and threatened subspecies (NASO Forest Red

Tail). The project will reforest the only remaining cleared area within the greater Banyowla Conservation Park, making this once fragmented area of bushland one large area of habitat for black cockatoos. Carbon Neutral will partner with the Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre and the Department of Parks and Wildlife on this project to get the best possible outcome for black cockatoo conservation. The Alcoa Foundation is also supporting this project with a generous grant. The sale of urban reforestation carbon credits will provide essential funding for the planting of trees species suitable as food source, roosting and nesting area. By removing and storing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere in their trunks, shoots and leaves as they grow, trees and shrubs planted through the project will also help combat climate change.

REFORESTATION CARBON OFFSETS TREE PLANTING

Moresby - Reforesting the Range Carbon Neutral Charitable Fund (CNCF) specialises in reforesting partly-degraded and marginal farmland in Australia to generate biodiverse reforestation carbon credits. To date, CNCF has planted over four million trees in Australia. Since its inception in 2001, CNCF has honoured every donated tree and carbon offset by the planting of trees.

Trees Help To... Sequester carbon dioxide Reduce soil erosion Combat salinity Provide wind breaks Improve biodiversity Provide habitat for our native plant and animal species

About CNCF Trees

Multiple local native species of trees and shrubs are planted.

How to work with CNCF’S Workplace Giving Program A. Calculate your carbon emissions using an online calculator

Join our project to reforest 140 hectares of the Moresby Range. Carbon Neutral Charitable Fund and Forbes Spillman, the landowner, want to plant a wide selection of biodiverse native trees and shrubs will be planted to rehabilitate the area, lock in carbon and provide habitat for animals, plants and birds.

OR decide on a set amount.

The Yarraweyah Biodiverse Reforestation Project is working to restore 100 hectares of partly degraded rural land in Australia’s southwest, an area recognised internationally for its exceptional ecological values and vast array of plant and animal species. A wide selection of biodiverse native trees and shrubs will be planted to rehabilitate the area, locking in carbon, reconnecting remnant bushland and providing habitat for animals, plants and birds. The south western part of Australia is one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots, with an abundance of unique and endangered plants and animals – many of which are found nowhere else on earth.

B. For calculated carbon emissions, divide your carbon emissions total by 26 (weeks) C. Fill out a Workplace Giving Form with the amount to be deducted With much of Western Australia’s natural landscapes lost to deforestation, this is a unique opportunity to revive Geraldton’s local environment.

Trees are legally protected on most sites.

As well as helping to rehabilitate the Range, this planting will also help to sequester carbon through the growth of large trees and shrubs.

As a guide, sites will conservatively sequester between 150250 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e) per hectare over their lifetime in the areas we plant.

Carbon Neutral Charitable Fund already has a biodiversity grant, but extra funds for planting costs and maintenaince need to be raised. This project will only be possible with your support.

Sites are prepared to industry best practice standards to promote maximum health, vigour and survival of seedlings.

Yarraweyah Biodiverse Reforestation Project Restoring Australia’s precious rural landscape

Helping to revegetate Australia’s natural landscape

Packed with over 1,500 species of flora, wildflower viewing in the region is an incredible sight. Yet large amounts of native vegetation in the Southwest have been cleared for agriculture. The Yarraweyah project works to help restore cleared land that is less suitable for farming to assist the survival of the region’s unique flora and fauna and to support the return of wildlife. The project will be unique due to its size and the number of species being planted — over 200 native species of trees and shrubs will be established through the direct seeding and planting.

Well positioned within existing nature corridors, the Yarraweyah project is located between the Stirling Ranges and Fitzgerald River National Park. The project borders remnant vegetation and other neighbouring nature hotspots include Corackerup Nature Reserve and Bush Heritage Australia’s Monjebup Reserve. The project is also situated in the middle of the Gondwana Link pathway, one of the largest and most ambitious conservation projects in Australia. The Gondwana Link vision is to protect and restore ecological connectivity and biodiversity across south-west Australia, from the Karri forest of the SW corner to the woodlands and mallee bordering the Nullarbor plain. Deforestation and loss of natural vegetation is one of the most significant

global contributors to climate change, due to the release of carbon that was previously locked up in the biosphere. By helping native trees and vegetation to regenerate on degraded land, this project will capture approximately 25,000 tonnes of C02-e.
