CHAIRMAN’S STATEMENT DATO’ JOHAN ARIFFIN

We have the responsibility to adhere to strict SOPs, be it at our construction sites or sales galleries because when it comes to the health and safety of our employees and the public, we take no chances.

T

he entire world has been placed in unprecedented situations caused by Covid-19 and the term ‘new-normal’ is on everyone’s lips. As citizens, we are obligated to do our part to flatten the curve and slow the spread within our communities. And as a corporation, we have the responsibility to adhere to strict SOPs, be it at our construction sites or sales galleries because when it comes to the health and safety of our employees and the public, we take no chances. However, there is always a silver lining; throughout the MCO and RMCO period, people have connected with their families and bonds are closer than ever, some have found new hobbies that can even offer a second income and many businesses have found a way to adapt their business model to fit the current situation. At this current time, we are seeing a gradual recovery amidst a very fluid economic situation; our Government has introduced a RM35 billion stimulus package that helps with tax incentives, financial support for businesses, and wage subsidies. Banks announced the 6 months loan moratorium and interest rates are at a record low. While we are all adjusting to the changes around us, I am proud to announce that the Mitraland team has delivered yet again on our mantra of “Crafting Lifestyles and Creating Value”. And with that determination, the team has successfully completed with Occupancy Permit our maiden international project – Esque, South Yarra in Melbourne, Australia. Located in the stylish suburb of Chapel St, Esque offers 60 beautiful 2- and 3-bedroom units and offers stunning views of either the city skyline or the vibrant neighbourhood. Another positive is the resumption of HOC (Home Ownership Campaign) which offers prospective buyers added incentive to secure a property now. Safe to say, units within our Gravit8 and Upperville developments are HOC friendly too. The team here have rolled out several initiatives that offer maximum savings and guaranteed rental returns. itraland’s first international project - Esque, South Yarra at Mebourne, Australia is now complete and in the midst of handover to eager owners. However, in light of the recent health and safety concerns, all necessary Government-issued guidelines and SOPs are strictly adhered to during the handover process. Esque is a 60-unit bespoke residential tower that comes with a private rooftop garden which offer vistas of either the Melbourne cityscape or of chic Chapel St. neighbourhood. Connectivity is a breeze when it comes living at Chapel St. A mere 4km away from the CBD, you can easily make your way there with trams and trains servicing the South Yarra line. For those who prefer to leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind, then this suburb is for you. Here, you can immerse yourself in café culture or take a relaxing drive to the nearby Royal Botanical Gardens for a lovely weekend treat – it’s all within easy reach. In terms of connectivity to education institutions, Esque is right in the thick of things. The Melbourne High School is right behind the property while tertiary institutions like RMIT, La Trobe and Melbourne Uni are located at the CBD. Interested to find out more? ORBIX INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL SETTING UP THIRD CAMPUS IN KLANG A flagship school of AI, Robotics & Coding.

W

ords like artificial intelligence, computer coding and robotics may sound alien to some but for many millennials, it is simply the way the world is heading towards. Virtual assistants like ALEXA, SIRI and BIXBY are very much a part the world our youth occupy and invariably, in our own lives too. Imagine being able to develop enhanced versions of such or other robotics that may change the way we live for the better. As such, the Orbix Education Group will be opening a new school at Pier8 in Gravit8, which will start its inaugural term in January 2021. This new campus at Pier8 @ Gravit8 will be the 3rd Orbix International school to be opened by Orbix Education and will also be the flagship ‘School of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics’. Orbix Education will also be partnering with a large AI based technology company in China, namely IFLYTEK to introduce the first in the country and possibly in the region, an AI syllabus for students aged 6 to 18 years. This comprehensive syllabus will cover areas on coding, machine learning, robotics and big data.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

This curriculum will also run concurrently with its core curriculum of Cambridge IGCSE & Fieldwork Education (UK). The AI curriculum is designed in such a way that students are introduced to AI from a young age through games before getting them to design and create at the secondary levels. Orbix Education plans to introduce this AI syllabus in all schools in stages. Mitraland Group’s Chairman, Dato’ Johan Ariffin said “We are very pleased to have Orbix set up campus within Pier8. This is a significant milestone for us and the surrounding communities. Not only is Orbix a bi-lingual (English and Mandarin) school that offers a comprehensive and holistic curriculum, exposure to AI and robotics is bound to spark curiosity and so applying them in their education syllabus can be an incredibly powerful learning tool”. Mr Chuah Theong Yee, Deputy Executive Chairman of Mitraland also shared that Pier8 retail mall has a total net lettable area of 150,000 sq ft. and offers 700+ car parking space. The mall is part of the integrated development of Gravit8, a 23-acre freehold mixed-use development in Klang South. It also combines residential components and family-friendly facilities like the 8-acre Lakepark. Gravit8 is a community-driven hub, designed with communities in mind whilst offering a bustling and modern lifestyle.

To quote Dato’ Albert Ong, Chairman / CEO of Abric Berhad & Orbix Education, “Global Education, Exceptional Experience” sums up Orbix Education’s philosophy in education. As educators, we are responsible to ensure that our children are prepared to face the future with confidence, knowledge and courage. We believe in collaborating with Mitraland at Pier8 to provide the ideal conduit of bridging quality education to the community.”

21 YEARS & GOING STRONG

Mitraland Group donates RM185,000.

itraland Group has come a long way, and the next chapter is yet to be written. With twenty-one years of proven track record, Mitraland Group has built a foundation of trust, consistency and dependability, fueled by its core values. As the Group celebrates its 21st anniversary this year, the team looks forward to achieving new milestones and to setting benchmarks in the property development industry. The celebratory day was held on 17th January 2020 at the Intercontinental Hotel Kuala Lumpur. It was a night to thank, engage and build on relationships with friends, business associates and employees. It was also a special moment for Dato’ Johan Ariffin, Chairman of Mitraland Group, as it also commemorated his 10th year with the Group. Together with Mr Chuah, Deputy Executive Chairman, Mitraland Group, both visionaries have spearheaded Mitraland to achieving great heights and with more growth to come. Dato’ Johan took to the stage to express his appreciation and gave thanks for the support, team work and dedication shown by all over the years. The dinner then commenced with the customary exuberant toss of the “Yee Sang”, with all guests joining in on the auspicious phrases with gusto. After that, the night was further heightened by a Glow Art performance – charting Mitraland’s journey over the years with illuminating hand drawn art. Another important segment of the night was of course the donation to charity organisations. A total of RM185,000 was raised and donated to 14 charity organisations which were: Pertubuhan Al – Khaadem Kiwanis Club Taman Tun Dr Ismail Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah Ti-Ratana Welfare Society Persatuan Rumah Sayangan Hospis Malaysia Cancerlink Foundation Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amal Charis Mantin N.S Lions Education Foundation Pusat Perkhidmatan Al Rahmaniah Persatuan Kebajikan Xim Phou Moon Malaysia Persatuan Kebajikan Darul Ehsan Malaysia Pertubuhan Kebajikan Asnaf Al Barakh Malaysia Pusat Jagaan Anak Anak Insan Al Rahmat Hikmah And finally, guests were treated to a lucky draw session. The top prizes included an iPad, smartphones and other electronic devices from Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi.

USHERING A BRAND NEW YEAR

Roaring ‘20s, here we come!

T

raditions play a strong part in our history; it helps us understand and celebrate our culture. It also encourages people of different faiths to learn and appreciate the diverse beliefs and practices of Malaysians. And what better way to celebrate our uniqueness than by having a Chinese New Year fete! On 16th February 2020, lively CNY festivities were held at Gravit8 sales gallery; guests were treated to numerous high-energy routines like the Chinese Yo-yo dancers who showed off their precision and skills and also the Festive Drums troupe that gave an impactful performance. But of course, one of the most anticipated highlights of the day was the lion dance performance. Khuan Loke Dragon and Lion Dance Association from Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya were special invitees as they were fresh off their win at the 19th Malaysia National Lion Dance Championship. The dance troupe gave a rousing performance and exhibited gravity-defying moves – leaving the audience in absolute awe! Besides the multitude of traditional activities, attendees got to walk away with ONG-some SHARP lucky draw worth up to RM8,000 and BIG ANGPOWS with a total value worth up to RM288,000 and free trip to Hokkaido was up for grabs. “I love exposing my children to festive performances, it allows them to appreciate the performance art and hard work put into it; it also teaches them the importance of preserving our culture and to be proud of one’s heritage. Kudos to team Mitraland for having events like these for the Klang community.” Mr Jeff Tang, Ashino Residence owner.
