Vincenzo Sorrentino CUPIO DISSOLVI. THE SENSE OF LIFE AND THE ABADONMENT PAGES 128 YEAR 2015 Rights sold in France
What gives sense to our lives? The reflections proposed in this book try to answer this question, tracing a sort of path between philoposhy, literature and religion, in an intense dialogue with some classics of the western culture. The core concept is that the sense has to be separated from the purpose and the meaning: the life of an individual can have a purpose and a meaning but, nevertheless, it can remain senseless. The question about the sense relates us with the visibile and invisible aspects of existence, and with the paradoxical coexistence of two basic insticts in all of us: the will to assert ourselves and the impulse to lose ourselves in the simbiotic union with other people (cupio dissolvi). At last, this question deals with the problem of power: the perception of the sense comes out in a state of abandon, in a room which remains closed off to every will of domain, aimed to control life in each one of its intimate folds. THE ORIGIN OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION
FAUST. THE DEVIL AND THE SCIENCE
PAGES 96 YEAR 2008 - Rights sold in France
PAGES 96 YEAR 2016
At the end of the Middle Ages the European civilization and the western culture take a new and distinct direction compared to the rest of the world. The beginning of the western civilization coincides with the development of the “Arti Minori”, the scientific discoveries, the expansion of the international trading, and the diffusion of the “machine”. This book proposes a new vision of the role of the machine between 1300 and 1400, related with the birth of the capitalism and the middle class, arguing that the commercial and economic systems were not the crucial cause of the European renaissance, but instead the technique, meant as a system of machine and precise production times.
The book narrates the story of Faust and the rise of the middle class between the end of the XV century and the beginning of the XVI century. The focus is on the Faust written by Marlow, which evokes characters like Roger Bacon and Petrus de Abano as forerunners of the modern scientific thinking. Beyond the stone guests like Averroé and Bruno, the tracks of science given by the troubled Marlow allow us to trace a new and original potrait of him.

The reflections proposed reveal the trepidation of the wait, the shiver of the risk, the charm of the discovery.

Mirella Di Fonzo SINGING-THERAPY PAGES 240 YEAR 2016
The main purpose of this book is to spread the therapeutic effects of singing, illustrating various experimentations made in different fields. For the author, it is decisive to explain the difference between music-therapy and singing-therapy, describing how the therapeutic principles of singing go beyond the basic approach of music-therapy, thanks to the peculiarity of the voice as an instrument inherent to humans. With a pioneering research, this book aims to put the singing-therapy in a specific place, noting the aspects it has in common with other disciplines and therapies as well as the differences.

THE SECRET OF MONA LISA
THE “OTHER” MONA LISA
PAGES 160 YEAR 2011
PAGES 160 YEAR 2016
What do the eyes of the Mona Lisa hide? What secret do they hold? Who is concealed behind that mysterious gaze? There are a lot of theories about the identity of Monna Lisa but we still don’t have any certainty about this woman smiling so slightly and enveloped in a halo of mystery. This books gives an interpretation of this character not only from a pictorial, philosophical and moral point of view, but also analyzes the famous portrait as a psychological transposition of Leonardo and a sort of humanistic admonishment for the future generations
Did Leonardo Da Vinci paint to different Gioconda? This question, still without response, passes through the existence of the great genius from Tuscany. A long and detailed research retraces the story of the Mona Lisa. The author guides us in an engaging journey, exploring a complex and intricate past and trying to solve two inconclusive mysteries: who was the real Mona Lisa? And did Leonardo paint a second version of the famous portrait? In order to find the answer, the author chooses new paths, and reveals historical documents that have been ignored or underestimated, such as the Salai’s Testament and the complex relationship between Leonardo and his disciple.
